Anyone managed to set a sky like this?
Jafergon replied to Ala12Rv-watermanpc's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
I think lighting at that time of the day is still WIP. In the patch notes they mentioned they are working on lighting with the sun at very low angles. -
No problem, I couldn't resist trying, just in case it was an undocumented fix
-
Just tested in a short work break and clouds are the same. I'm confident ED will be able to fix this and get us VR players back in the game.

Before 2.5.6 shadows used to cast shadow on the surface of the sea. I really liked the effect. With 2.7 there are still no cloud shadows on the sea, only the speculars and reflections are affected, but not the diffuse component of the water. I love the new cloud shadows on land and I think the same offect over water woud be really cool.

Coulds look so amazing in 2D, that I simply can't fly in VR these days in their current state, so I've reinstalled my old TrackIR that I haven't used in years. At least until they are fixed in terms fo level of detail and contrast.

Thanks for the update!!

I'm very grateful for the amazing work the team has done on this patch and how beautiful and realistic clouds look (as a matter of fact everytime a major patch is released, I buy an ED module, even without the intention to use it, just to support the team). We are just trying to get some answers on a very specific question, the fact that changing quality settings of clouds in VR doesn't seem to have any real effect. I understand there must be a very good reason behind, just want to know why and if it's something we can expect to be fixed soon.

known issue Jumping clouds
Jafergon replied to Charly314159's topic in Weather System Bugs & Problems
Actually I don't know if it's because I was looking closer, but I only started noticing the bouncing clouds issue in the latest batch of Wags videos for the Hornet and the Viper, before that I never saw the effect in any of the videos released (I've seen a thousand times the DCS Clouds video), so maybe it's a side effect of recent 2.7 optimization. -
I agree, they look better than in 2.5.6. The point is that quality settings don't seem to be as scalable as in 2D and the difference between clouds in LOW and ULTRA is minimal if any at all. Personally these days I feel a bit jealous when I see someone showing off the amazing clouds in 2D I hope we get a hotfix for this soon

Actually this morning I was telling a friend on the phone to silence his opnion in forums. He likes the soft look of clouds in vr and I was trying to convince him that he can't say that out there, because I want ED to fix this :)))
-
I agree. I didn't see this in the bug list. I'd like to increase detail, even at the cost of reducing other parameters. Actually I was mentally prepared before 2.7 to reduce some settings in order to have those amazing clouds as in 2D
-
Actually I'm was not complaining either when I created this post, I think 2.7 it's an inmense achievement. It's more that I'm curious about the fact that the different quality settings don't seem to have any effect in VR and it seems to be stuck on LOW.
-
Maybe the issue of the jumping clouds and detail level locked on LOW are linked, so they did that to prevent the jumping issue from being more noticeable... just a theory
-
I'm using a Reverb G2. I don't think it's and HMD issue. Somehow it looks that quality settings are capped in VR...
-
Besides from the jumping clouds issue one thing that I've noticed is that regardless of the quality setting I select in VR, the clouds look the same with no difference or very litte in detail between LOW and ULTRA. Maybe this is related with the jumping bug, but I was curious about this and if anyone else have the same impression. Other than that they look amazing in 2D and performance is incredible!

We badly need the new S-3 and SH-60. I think they are coming this year

Air Combat Sim with NineLine - post your questions here
Jafergon replied to baltic_dragon's topic in Community News
How are the multiplayer ingame voice comms coming along? Any chance we might see this year a new iteration with radio sound effects, frequencies, etc... Thanks! -
The more I see the more I'm impressed by how realistic the new clouds are looking. However, we still haven't seen any night time pictures. I wonder how will they look under the light of the moon for example.

Please keep in mind that a lot of new features are coming. In the near future we are going to have access to PriFly and seat in the Airboss chair (with controls for elevators, lights...) , an interactive ready room and a more detailed hangar. You can see some glimpses in the latest trailers and they have stated that there has been a lot of work already done. So in 2021 the module will expand beyond a "glorified 3d model and some animated crew". At some point we will get plane directors for taxi from and to parking spots. barricade for emergencies and more stuff, but I'm not sure that's coming anytime soon.

Did anybody else see the new clouds in the thumbnail of the new video released yesterday by ED. They look cool for sure. I can't wait to fly between layers like in the screenshot. I guess iif they used it for the thumbnail they must be getting closer.

Anyway to turn down the colour saturation within DCS.
Jafergon replied to LaLa's topic in General Bugs
I'd need exactly the opposite in VR, where usually colours tend to look less saturated. I can't use together anymore the the VR optimized shaders and the 3DMigoto package that had a VR saturation control slider :(
