Dynamic Foveated Rendering: Time to go to an Aero, or wait for next gen?

Quest Pro vs G2 Impressions - 4090/7950x3D

Actually that is not quite right, in fact using DFR with eye tracking of the Aero in DCS one can not be running the Open XR Toolkit. So if having Open XR tools available to you is essential then you will not want to run DFR with DCS. If you would rather have DFR/eye tracking of the Aero with DCS, then you need to disable the Open XR Toolkit but yes you will need to run DCS-MT in Open XR runtime. Grab this little program from @mbucchia to set your DFR settings for the Aero. https://github.com/mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated Also insure you have eye tracking enabled in Aero. I found the results to be phenominal and am a big advocate of using that feature of the Aero with DCS. Sorry no idea if this can be done with Quest Pro. I just wanted to make that clarifcation for using it with the Aero. -
Fantastic news!! Looking forward to it's release, hopefully my WWII birds will work properly. Thank you for all your efforts!!

Imho yes, for seated only you can probably get by with one. I play seated only and am glad I have two though.

Same here - I added buttons and use the slider for both Regular VR Zoom and Spyglass VR Zoom. Center is normal view.

Maybe - I stopped watching his vids after he proclaimed Varjo's first iteration of their Motion Reprojection in the Aero to be absolutely perfect with no anamolies. I love my Aero but Varjo's first attempt was pretty bad imho And it still is not up to snuff enough for me to use it yet so I continue to prefer using Aero without Motion Reprojection. I just don't feel like he is on total up and up any longer, Tries to please them all I guess. Looking forward to real world every day folks reports whenever they finally get their units.

No one can predict the future - this is the first sale I have seen Varjo do on the Aero and it is a decent one at that. I personally do not think anything is coming this year that would truly beat out the Aero. But that is just me - I know a lot of folks "feel like" the Pimax Crystal will. I am biased in that regard though, I do not consider Pimax to be an option for me. So I am fine with the Aero for a while still yet thank goodness. It will be interesting to see what direction Meta takes the Quest line up later in the year. I gotta say though DCS with MT along with Dynamic Foveated Rendering with Eye Tracking using the Aero is something else!

Videos are fine but I would put way more stock in normal everyday users feedback rather than these popular YouTubers.... especially when talking Pimax. I have not seen any of those yet...

High end hotas - which one and why?
dburne replied to BaronVonVaderham's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have slowly migrated to Virpil now for my stick and throttle - also have their collective for my Apache flying. I have the CM3 throttle, the CM3 stick base with Virpil Alpha Prime (metal) grip, and Virpil Rotor TCS along with Alpha -L grip. I love this setup very much, been running the throttle couple of years now, the collective close to about a year, and the CM3 stick base with Alpha Prime grip for two-three months now. They all have very nice adjustability and are rock solid. I would consider these to be "high end" devices. -
Mine seem to be coming and going on a whim lately as well, no rhyme or reason to it that I can tell.

Quest Pro vs G2 Impressions - 4090/7950x3D

Far as I know they are readily available aren't they? -
From what I have seen on their Varjo Discord and my own personal experience with Varjo support it appears to be excellent. I had an apparent Link Box failure and they overnighted one to me. One day to diagnose and one day to get replacement Link Box to me. They had me send the bad Link Box back to them after receipt and confirmation of the good one.

I expect you will be very happy with the Aero.
-
Important to note - these well known "youtubers" have to sign an NDA with Pimax that they can not reveal certain - well let's say aspects - of the current unit they are reviewing. It will be more interesting to see real world comments from real world users that actually buy this thing and plan on using it on a regular basis. In the meantime this is just Pimax doing business the same old Pimax way.

My only question would be - why would an Aero owner want to use a Play Station 2 VR headset for PC gaming?

Yeah running MT version in VR is especially a no brainer - performance benefit is nice and hopefully they will continue to improve upon it as time moves on. -

The installer prompts to uninstall previous version. I uninstalled it and then ran the msi again and it seems to have installed just fine. Won't get a chance to check it out till tomorrow.
