  1. Multi-crew on the FB.VI will be a neat start for the ability of another player to sit in your plane and able to flip switches in the cockpit. It does not require any additional modeling of systems (unlike in a bomber version with a bomb sight), but as far as I know the basic game mechanics that allow two players to sit in the same plane do not exist (not available in the F-14 right?), and FB.VI can be the 1st to showcase this ability - even though its usefulness will be quite limited. I would love to have a late bomber Mossie, but I’d say that in the current state of WWII DCS that is not the best model to add first.
  2. That’s my kind of lad. The announcement of a forthcoming mosquito module is what made me come to DCS (got a Mig21 and P47 to pass the time till its arrival). I can trace back to the exact time and place when I first learned about the mosquito - just about 40 years ago, me as a kid looking at an old (even then) photos album of the Israeli Airforce, a full page portrait photo of a pilot standing under the nose of a Mosquito and my aunt reading the captions to me, a few words about the Mosquitoes service in the Israeli airforce. I remember being amused by the name “mosquito”. I am a fan ever since. There are rare occasions in history when engineering and art get tangled up and end up with a machine that is not only extraordinary in its function, but also so beautiful that you can put it on a pedestal at a gallery and call it art.
  3. I do the start sequence once - then auto start always. Can’t be bothered with memorizing sequences of switches, then debugging the plane when it won’t start. There’s no need to simulate the boring or annoying parts of life. I also arm all the weapons on the ground immediately after startup. Safety is not fun either.
  4. There was not one “G6” variant - there were lots of variations on this long-serving model with quite a bit of differences in performance. I agree about the G2/F4. These would be the most fun for me and a good match to the Spit IX and Mosquito. Well, the F4 is a bit earlier but still a good performer in 1943.
  5. I promised to post a review of my Gladiator K. However with it out of stock and the NXT in stock this seems pointless. I ordered the VKB Gladiator K on July 10. It arrived on September 6, so it took just about 2 months. OK these are not normal times so I understand. However, on August 10 Gladiator NXT has been announced on this board, so my “K” stick has become obsolete a month before it even arrived to me. Well, one can’t but feel a little cheated. Gladiator K is a good stick for its price. Its only advantage over the newer NXT is that it has more buttons on its base - this is very nice if you do not wish to use a separate throttle (I currently don’t) and for cold war era fighter or warbirds, this is usually enough. However I would not have bought it had I knew NXT is going to come out so soon. If you already have it, enjoy it. If you are looking for a new stick, look at NXT. This is my bitter-sweet summary.
  6. But man, dropping so much fuel, after a few missions the coast of Normandy will look as if the Axxon Valdez has cracked and sunk there! :shocking:
  7. Merlins on a Beaufighter?! HERESY! :chair: I’ve heard of these mongrels, but real pure blood Beaus pack a pair of Herculeses!

    Mirage III

I don’t own any other RAZBAM modules and am not interested in buying any, so from my POV any development of them is wasted.

    Mirage III

RAZBAM should put everything aside and focus on the Mirage III. This is the most important module that they can deliver. When a Mirage IIIc module comes out my credit card will come out so fast that the sonic boom will be heard all the way to the developers offices!
  10. Thanks. I flew my Bis and was wondering about that odd new behavior.
  11. Skyhawks served in the Israeli air force for 48 years! First ones arrived December 29 1967, shortly after the Six Days war, last ones were grounded in 2015. Amazing.
  12. “Terror in the starboard seat” by Dave McIntosh. The best written autobiography that I have read and by a good margin too. Dave was a navigator in no. 418 RCAF squadron, one of two mosquito squadrons dedicated to intruder operations and produced a good number of mosquito aces. Dave describes his 41 missions beautifully mixing sarcasm with the sheer terror that he felt on many. His number 40 mission was a crazy single mossie “day ranger” operation that actually spanned two days and won Sid (the pilot) and Dave their DFC. Highly recommend.
  13. An interesting Mosquito discussion at Greg’s channel:
  14. The navigator will have full access to the mini-bar and the in-flight entertainment system.

    Mirage III

Mirage III is from an age when pilots actually controlled flight surfaces, missiles were for show and the kills were done with cannons. Mirage 2000 is from the age of computer flown planes, BVR combat like flying SAMs, and cannons are installed for the nostalgia.

    Mirage III

Yes! please don’t abandon this project! The Mosquito and news about Mirage III development is what brought me to DCS. Mirage III is an instant must-buy-day-1 for me! Though no news about it in ages, it seems to have been pushed to end of the queue.
  17. Be warned that MSFFB2 does not work perfectly with DCS. I suspect that this will apply to the older MSFFB too. The main issue is trim. Pitch and roll trims behave strangely and this changes from module to module. Yaw trim seems to work better. This is VERY annoying in the WWII birds. In other modules such as the community A4E the Auto pilot does not work with MSFFB, but this may have been fixed in the recent update of the module.
  18. While we are waiting for the mossie, here is the story of the Phillips factory raid by Mark Felton, uploaded a few days ago:
  19. The parts I bolded are incorrect. While obsessing about charts and figures of plane performances are a fun academic exercise, this is not how dogfights play out. Planes do not fly on 2D co-centric circles. They rarely fly at the same speed or even hold it constant unless they get stuck near the ground at their stall speed - which means that the pilot flew the fight very badly. This is why the pilot is a huge factor in a dogfight, much more significant than performance figures unless the differences are very large. I have no info regarding how the Viggen flies with gears out. However, if it is modeled correctly it is a legit move, even if it was not used by real pilots. The “sim” refers to the equipment, not the habits of the pilot.
  20. Just placed my order at flightsimcontrols.com. :joystick:  This Gladiator K looks like great value for a mid price range stick. It really should get more publicity. The "China express airlift" option was cheaper than most shipment options to my country (Israel). I feel lucky that CH T.16000 hotas was all out of local stocks and shipment costs were insane, so I waited. I will post a review once I get it.
  21. These are excellent vids! I enjoyed watching  I really wish the A4E was made official so we could fly it in multiplayer like the cold war server.
  22. This stick looks great! If the shipping costs will not burn my wallet, I am getting one.
  23. The other WWII sim has mosquitoes? I think they are coming only with their “Normandy” DLC, and it is not out yet.
  24. They did not operate the rudder by twisting their stick...
  25. I love the new cockpit! This great module is getting even better
