  1. Great vid! Check this one out; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXoRzzqWruU There are some maneuvers in this video that I thought impossible for a helicopter to perform.
  2. WOW!! Great video GA!! I have two questions if you don’t mind; 1. Has the in cockpit toilet paper smoke trail effect been correct. All of the incockpit rocket/ missiles shots in the video were done while zoom in and the problem is only visible when zoom out in cockpit. 2. How does the clickable pit work if you use the mouse the look around.. Ok that’s it, thx again awesome vid, well worth the wait.
  3. 15.5 KB/s wohooo lol .. normally I’d have that file in about one minute but looks like its gonna take over an hour .. No big deal, “all good things….” ;)
  4. Maybe we should talk cars in the chit chat section of the ru forums http://forum.lockon.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=32 I love a good driving sim. Right now I’m into Forza (Xbox), I like the way you can build up a production line car into a GT racer, drifter or even a stock car if you want .. then you can paint it with 300 layers, not bad for a console. I think that’s my favorite way to use a driving sim, a few of my friends have Forza and we have these competitions of building a car up to say under 500 or 400 hp and then we time ourselves or race on a track to see who built the best car.
  5. Great work!! Where can I get it?? And in regards to /7POKYPOP, comments then I have to say that I totally agree with Toady. ;)
  6. That worked for me.. Now that’s what I call a Six Pack ;)
  7. I wonder if its my monitor that makes it so dark.. I’ll have to check it out and adjust a few settings and see.
  8. I’m probably the only one that thinks this but IMO the night in LO is way too dark, IRL its nothing like that.
  9. Here’s a screen shot of what I’m seeing; Note; the first download worked for me when zoomed in however when I zoomed out from the missile "a little" then it looked like the screen shot above. With the download available in this thread the 77 looks like it does in the screen shot all the time whether zoomed in or not.
  10. I’m going to order “Microsoft Flight Simulator X (Deluxe Edition)” … it doesn’t cost that much more than the standard version and I’ve always purchased the Pro versions of M$FS. The FMs from the default aircraft have never been anything to write home about but third party stuff feels great as long as you don’t push the plane into high G or AOA maneuvers.
  11. Doh hehe oops.
  12. I like the 500, it can be a little difficult entering in the ICAO codes while flying a helicopter but it’s still fun to program while in-flight. I also have FSNAV which is truly like a navigational map with everything from nav ID’s/Freq to jet routes even ramp and gates at airports are displayed .. I’ll checkout the GNS530 mod though, there are so many Mods its hard to keep track.
  13. The best post I’ve read here. The idea of flying “full real” shouldn’t be so narrow. In Il2 FR servers mean no external views and cockpit is on, that’s it you will most likely find that labels will be turned on at least for friendlies and map view showing your location plus the line of defense will also be available. I just have to laugh at the more extreme ones trying to prove to God knows who that they could do it for real by using derogatory terms to describe someone else idea of realism. WTF is that about, who gave them the monopoly on what’s real and what isn’t but hey if they want to make themselves look obsessed then that’s their problem. Personally I fly all kinds of servers whether they are considered full real or not and for me they are all real fun and I have a great time spending billions of virtual dollars blowing stuff up and getting blown up myself.. ;)
  14. Great Job!! It works for me now :) I’d just like to say thanks for taking the time to hunt down the problem the minority of us were having even though it worked for the majority .. you’re a real credit to the community.
  15. Yes of course but you can program the nav aids etc which you cant do in LO.. To be honest I never use F10 for air to air missions, most of the servers I fly in I don’t even know if its active….. I only use it for specific A2G missions when I’m trying to simulate being vectored to an area, town or when I set up a kill box. For me it just feels more realistic to check the map view to make sure I’m over the right town or within the area where I can engage ground targets freely, with out having to always follow a waypoint to an area then start looking for enemy units that are placed a certain distance from the attack waypoints. I bet most of us wouldn’t even need to use a compass to find our way around the map in LO the amount of missions we have flown but it comes down to what ever works online and what ever you feel is realistic. For some they like externals and others like labels but for me I find both of those extremely unrealistic and immersion killers in LO. In FS9 I get to use Garmin GPS 500 and the 295.. as you say they are very powerful nav tools with all kinds of info from flight plans to different classes of airspace .. Didn’t know anything about the company itself though so thanks for the info :) Ps are they giving A10 pilots hand held GPS systems? I don’t know if I read it somewhere or am just getting mixed up with something else.
  16. IMO any form of moving map has got to be more realistic than none at all. The Garmin GPS system looks very similar to the F10 view in LO and that’s good enough to simulate moving map based navigation and SA. To say its unrealistic is just bizarre imo seeing as fighter pilots have much, much more than a simple hand held device to rely on or a printed map. Now I understand that cheating can be a problem and I can see the argument for keeping it off but it seems for some people that the less tools you have for navigation the more realistic your flying experience will be...again this is bizarre. I know most of us here don’t actually need F10 view to navigate or locate targets but for me it adds to the realism and doesn’t take it away, although that’s just my opinion and I have no problems whether servers choose map view or not.
  17. Has any here said to put enemies on F10 view? We are just talking about Your own aircraft and that’s pretty much it.
  18. I think we all understand the person that pays for the server makes the rules and I have never and would never ask for any host to alter anything .. well maybe the time of day but that’s it. I do sometimes use F10 with only my own aircraft being displayed when flying offline… Do I need to? Nope but I like the immersion of checking a moving map and making sure I’m in the right place especially when flying CAP missions where friendly units are very, very close by. Now if we are talking about realism then real men fly with maps like these ;) I wonder if we will ever see nav aids in any future LO product like my FS9 pics above with ndb’s, vor’s, H/L jet routes etc.
  19. I agree with you but personally I prefer twin engine fighters/ strike fighters, like I said before I am glad the USN developed the F18 and decided against the F16… although I do like the F35 ;) . I’d still fly the Falcon in a future LO product or FO but I would much prefer the Strike/Eagle or Hornet…. its all good though the more flyables the better.
  20. Ah OK .. The way I understood things were that half way through development naval specifications were required from the YF16 and YF17. My understanding was that the YF-17 was a derivative of the cobra. I wont go online with FO not knowing how to start up the engines lol Its just that I do enough procedural flying in FS9 and the thought of just flying around in a combat sim doesn’t interest me. I’ll wait for the F16/15/E and get both the Trainer and the fighter in one go. F18 .. oh man I hope so and I hope that will bring some kind of naval aspect to FO as well.
  21. I have both the F15 tanks and Missiles installed but with the Mig I only get textures on half the center tank :(
  22. It’s basically the same thing .. well kind of .. The YF-17 prototype was originally a technical demonstrator, as was the YF-16 so I assume the USAF would have been aware of the direction Northrop were going to take with the development.
  23. I agree .. I just don’t like the Falcon; single engine strike fighters just don’t interest me. I cant believe the USAF chose the F16 over the F18 :( I’m just glad the USN decided to stick with the Hornet. I’ll still buy FO though once it becomes a combat sim but I'm not interested in the training thing.
  24. Nice find!! Thx for sharing. Here’s a Su33 vid I came across a couple of weeks ago, some of the sequences you may have seen but there are some that I know I haven’t seen before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9jFbIVJyLI&mode=related&search=
  25. Considering that real pilots have maps, GPS etc then for realism I would say Map view with at least your own aircraft displayed is the most realistic and there are probably good arguments for having all friendly aircraft on there as well especially when considering the IFF limitations of the F15. However if this can lead to cheating then I would say if there’s an admin present turn it on but if no admin is online then leave it off. As has already been mentioned IL2 has the best map view I’ve seen for a combat sim .. I was playing online last night and a bomber calls in that he needs assistants in Grid “C3” so all of the airborne fighters start out in pursuit. I wish we could have something like that for LO with the frontline lines being shown as well.
