Yeah I’ve had them since they came out too but a lot of people don’t go beyond the general forum and they miss a lot of MOD’s Another heads up for some; new Aim120 (clipped wings) and Aim 7. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=18590 With the new tools released by ED it’s a good idea to check the “3D Models Discussion” and "MOD’s" forum regularly.

Offline sometimes I cheat and add the wing man as a second “Flight” rather than just “Pilot 2” this helps a little to separate the aircraft.

Couldn’t agree more .. his Birds of Prey: F-15C Skin Pack is just excellent. ------------------------------------------------ Anyone know if the F15C ever carries just two tanks on the wings, similar to the strike eagle or is it just three tanks or only one?

Check out the Mig29 48 secs into this video :smilewink: Also 2 mins 43 secs in you can see what it actually looks like when someone evades your sidewinder. Unfortunately that part of the video is very poor.

I’ll keep checking too .. It looks like in the next episodes they start the live fire exercises.. arrg I hope the guy uploads the entire series.

TIR I’m not interested in, I use the mouse to look around and it works great, so my number one would be a CH Hotas but I’m happy with my set up so I’m in no rush. As for rudder pedals well that’s just more cables running around my PC :no_sad: so a twist grip or rocker switch is more my kind of thing. My dream would be for a CH Hotas with dual throttle, force feedback and a twist grip for rudder control, if CH made that set up I would’ve bought it yesterday. :thumbup:

You went to a finishing school in Switzerland? :suspect: In terms of just a normal explosion then I have to say I like IL2 PFm. It's as funny as hell online when a bomber manages not only to take out the entire airport but anything that’s flying over it as well with just one bomb. :surprise:

TWS has all the targets locked and is sending all the missiles fired course corrections when needed via a data link until the seeker is in range. This is different from the Aim 7 where the Eagle has to focus its radar on the target but the idea of maintaining lock until you can A-pole is similar. Once the missile has gone active then it is left to its own systems until then, if you loose TWS lock, it will fly to your last known spot and if you are unluckily enough to fly into the seeker then it will start to track you again.

Yes but those are extremely ideal circumstances where the Aim120 wouldn’t need any mid course corrections after it's launched. I am not disputing the fact that the Aim120 is fire and forget .. because it is under the correct parameters but if you start firing your missiles then switching to nav mode you most likely wont hit a thing unless you’re in active range of the amraam.

Its to do with the small radar on the Aim120 not having the distance to go active at Rmax.. if it could then the f15 wouldn’t need a radar. You fire at Rmax to get your opponent to go defensive then fire at a closer range. .. it doesn’t have to be done that way but it is the most competitive way when facing a capable opponent… well a high percentage of the time anyway.

Too right .. never turn always go vertical with a Mirage.. Bnzing a Mirage2000 is the easiest way or you could also make him climb to you.. The most fun way is to run him down on the deck then use AB to push over the top while he’s turning. Here’s a couple of tracks (they’re not perfect examples but I didn’t have the time to make the tracks pretty ;) ). BnZ Making him climbing.

The fighter would have to take no evasive action for it to hit under those circumstances. “Before launch, the launching aircraft's fire control system programs the missile's inertial autopilot in the WGU-16/B guidance unit to bring it into a homing basket in the vicinity of the target. The autopilot can receive mid-course updates from the aircraft via a data link. The AMRAAM's WCU-11/B control section controls the missile in flight with the four movable tail fins. As soon as the target is within range, the AMRAAM activates its active radar seeker for autonomous terminal homing” For a shorter range shot where the seeker goes active soon after it leaves the rails then yes but for longer range shot you most likely wont hit anything with out mid course corrections. “For the lower portions of the AMRAAM's range envelope (minimum range is said to be 2 km (2200 yds)), where the mid-course guidance updates are not needed, the AIM-120 is a true fire-and-forget weapon.”

I assume that’s smokeless with in reason I doubt they are talking about absolutes when they refer to a smokeless motor. Similarly when they say the Aim120 is a fire and forget missile which isn’t exactly true because you must still hold lock until it goes active. I mean for all intensive purposes the aim120 is smokeless but it does have a smoke signature even though its very, very faint.
