  1. Hi all, Interesting post and quite ironic. I have just made a post about another open workshop. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=98144 Speed. Couldn't agree more. This is extremely important. I have wasted hours and hours 'trying' to map others' HOTAS setup's for them. Fact is, they have to, and they have to know what is programmed to where, even if they have no idea what that function actually does! That's where things like the open workshops come in handy. Flankerator - Thanks. Regards 'T'
  2. Chuck an aircraft on the map, set its altitude. done.
  3. Gotcha. Thanks. good point.
  4. Well you can't fly F15C in CAS role because it's an out and out fighter and not Multi Role (AFAIK), but the F15E is. As for CAS with a C130, well, Spectre Gunship is not modelled (shame), so CAS with a C130 is defo out of the window. No, with respect, the aircraft available for CAS are correct. RL, Sim and that bloody word 'Game' all get jumbled up in a bag called DCS and what we get we get. 'T'
  5. That'll do. Ta.
  6. And you are an ED Dev are you? er...........................defo not. Shtum and allow them to answer
  7. Which is great..................................... What about official advice to the rest of us mate? I haven't seen anything to say that this should be the case. To be frank, i`m aware of the 'LAN' option from my own time as a tester, but it was never 'offical' guidance and only the initiative of testers as a nuance to other settings. So again, what is the ED Dev official advice for the best option? Hope all is well mate, lets catch up sometime. 'T'
  8. Dunno where you heard that from, but in my experience 256 is the most stable settings of all of them when running and connecting to a server through the master server list. This, is after extensive testing for warp and lag over the past 4 years. Smaller packets for fast updating software allowing the UDP protocol is always going to be the way to go. Unless an ED dev says otherwise, id stick to ADSL 256. ED Dev's? definitive answer to this regular conundrum? whats your advice? 'T'
  9. Hmmmm....sounds nice. lets get this current iteration stable first shall we? particulary the infamous kernal32.dll and ntdl.dll errors we are all suffering from. Logs submitted by many before the usual request is made. no offence. Thanks for ya time and efforts. 'T'
  10. Most mission designers mention in the first few lines of the Mission Description, how many slots for respective aircraft are available.
  11. If there are AI Aircraft in your mission and they land and shut down you will get CTD'd, ntl.dll, kernal32.dll error or client disconnect. When you try to rejoin, you will usually get an appcrash. Clear out your temp files and .trk,s and rejoin.
  12. Thanks for your hard work on this. I know only too well how many hours can be busted working on a project or two. takes time and energy - a dwindling commodity for most. Regards 'T'
  13. Already poss repped, couldn't agree with you more about the trollfest. I forget how many times this thread has been reborn to be frank. There is a difference between a 'douche admin' and a mission briefing though mate. come on my server and non comply with the mission briefing and prepare to get kicked. Go into Real combat and not comply with the ROE or Mission perameters, ME's or Scheme of Manouvre and prepare for Disciplianry Action. This is a Sim and not a game. For those that want a game, well........ARMA is over there somewhere.
  14. To be fair to the OP, he did apologise, fairplay. Just Ironic that he started this thread of a subject brought up again and again. I dont think banning via UCID is really the way forward ENO to be honest. Mistakes are made frequently by peoples, new and experienced alike and it would be easy to categorise everyone who screws up a little as a constant offender. Not neccessarily the case. The OP for example was informed of his misdemeanour (thats all it is) and then was kicked from the server and banned from TS for 10 minutes (yes he was in TS - again, fairplay.) Again, the point is that even if the server was passworded, he was in TS. He didn't read the mission so didn't know what was going on. Being in TS however, enables us to ID the offender and speak to them or take action. But.............................99% of the time the mistakes that are made are minor, although i did have a dickhead who took off and then gun runned me whilst i had just finished starting up the A-10C - knob. Point is, permanent banning via UCID is a serious thing that we should not really be thinking about and certainly not for multiple servers via a co-ordinated approach. In 4 and a bit years of ED support and flying their products, i have only EVER came accross 'one' that deserved to be banned forever from every server. one. Good luck 'T'
  15. It is interesting to note that the OP came onto LYNX when we opened it without a password, jumped into a Red Slot and immediatly headed south and took out an A-10C that was blue, and had spent 30 minutes getting into position. However, had he of read the Mission Briefing he would have noticed that in this scenario (NATO+), Blue and Red were on the same side, the Mission Brief made this perfectly clear. Not wanting to turn this into a flame war of anykind, the fact is that because he had not read the Mission Briefing he was unaware of the Missions Scenario, Its aims and specific Tasks for Specific Aircraft. Had he of done, he would have known that he had a SEAD Task. This..................is what 'sometimes' happens when servers are not passworded and is the risk that we run when doing so. There is always one, but sometimes, this is all it takes to screw the whole lot up. MP is about co-ordination. If it's a furball you want then please...........create your own server. Bottom Line? If a server is not passworded, it does not mean that you shouldn't read the Mission Brief or tasks. They............are extant, passworded server or not. Regards 'T'
  16. now that would be a little daft on here no? ;-)
  17. MP is now ridiculous for us, again. I have removed all AI from Op Dynamo as a result. LYNX (our server) will now remain open for the public for the foreseeable future as a result and to aid in stability testing, and identification and isolation of CTD circumstances so that we can better inform ED perhaps. feel free to do what you will, but try to stick to the actual mission brief. DCS Logs are being archived for ED. Regards 'T'
  18. AAF just taken delivery of a lot of mi24's. they just need to be taught how to fly them now. An ongoing and very slow business for obvious reasons. (edited as requested) 'T'
  19. VFS choice as to whether a server is locked or not and for specific reasons. It is no ones place to question that, unless it is you that pays for extra licences and hardware and connectivity.
  20. Thanks fellas, thank you all. Just had my mandatory 'Mong Month' post tour and now am stepping up a bit. Hope to see y'all around. Doing a lot with Op Dynamo and 74th business, but I'll be sure to pop into see my buddies in the 104th when i can. Hope all is well. Regards 'T'
  21. +1 - Well Said. couldn't agree more.
