F-16C autopilot - required conditions to activate
buceador replied to TheBiggerBass's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Upload the track! I have been flying the F-16 almost exclusively for 5 years and have never experienced an autopilot problem. -
F-16C autopilot - required conditions to activate

As @BIGNEWY says, upload a track that contains the problem. -
Ability to place some ground units on ships or sea-shelf objects
buceador replied to Tank50us's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I have only just realised(!) that you cannot place ground units e.g. infantry, on ships (LST Mk.II for example) It is possible to place STATIC objects on ships but DCS doesn't include INFANTRY in the list of static objects for some obscure reason? I am aware that there is a PERSONNEL section but this only refers to carrier personnel. With the upcoming update to infantry wouldn't this be an essential feature? Is it planned? @BIGNEWY @NineLine Thanks. -

ME (Mission Editor) - There is no ERROR trapping. For example - you create a simple mission: Aircraft A flies to point A and drops a bomb on target B. You have set the mission parameter to BOMBING but because of the loadout or aircraft type or the altitude or the waypoint or one of a myriad of other possibilities the aircraft simply flies on by and you are non the wiser as to why. In this example perhaps ATTACK MAP OBJECT was needed (or perhaps not) users need feedback. In that well known civilian sim, if you try to assign a keybind to a device not selected it says WRONG DEVICE. Feedback / error trapping is useful especially to newcomers.

I always manage to fire all 4. I'm only carrying 2 here but there is no problem with locking and firing...

I would say some, not many, it is not the norm, tricycle gear represents the vast majority of PPL training, even back when I did my PPL (late 90s), nobody was offering tail draggers

True but the OP's message here is focussing on making DCS more user friendly for the newbie / beginner, neither of the 2 free aircraft supplied are user friendly. The SU-27 (for example) is much easier to take off, fly and land. I think that is a given but wasn't it you that said "Took me over 200 flight hours to get confident and combat ready" ? That kind of time frame is unlikely to encourage new blood.

This! Tail draggers are notoriously difficult to take off and land and TOTALLY unsuitable as a first-time trainer platform. (The P-51 was the legend BTW) @draconus Can be a beast to land with tyres made of paper-mache! I think this is one of the points being made re. not beginner friendly... I have never understood why the ED website is, initially, so user unfriendly, yes, when you know where everything is and what the links mean / refer to (Texture templates?) all is fine and dandy but as a first time user?

.trk file fails to load with 'unexpected end of track' error
buceador replied to buceador's topic in General Bugs
Fixed in the last update! -
76.4 percent of statistics are made up on the spot! However... I think ED have stated in the past that the majority of DCS users are SP.

Forgive the ignorance but what constitutes a 'signed plugin'? Can you give me an example please? Thanks -
Static Templates vs Selected Groups with Statics.
buceador replied to Weta43's topic in Mission Editor
I understand that there are probably better options but in the interim the COPY / PASTE option does work ( I tried it 30 minutes ago to check and copied a mixed group from Caucasus to PG successfully) -
Static Templates vs Selected Groups with Statics.
buceador replied to Weta43's topic in Mission Editor
I'm not sure I understand correctly but... As it stands at the moment you can select a group of mixed units and static objects with the SELECT tool, then CTRL C to copy, load a different map click on desired location and CTRL V to paste the copied units? Have I missed the point? -
I wouldn't. For such a simple mission use the mission editor, select the map you want place the Phantom where you want set the phantom to PLATER and off you go!

Hurrah & many thanks!

Same problem! Neither custom nor standard templates can be place on the ME map.
-
Ha! Hurrah! Thank you!

Ok, all done. No change. Sequence: Load DCS from bin-mt dcs.exe Mission Editor New Mission Caucasus Select (in this case) F-16 Place on map Select PLAYER Create 1 waypoint Save mission Run Exit Save track Watch track or simply Watch track without saving - result is the same As mentioned earlier, I have repeated this sequence for 5 years and created over 500 videos using the saved track combined with nvidia shadowplay without ever seeing this issue. Looking at the log I see that 24H2, which is recent, is parking logical cores - I will turn this off again and retest. May 22 track test.miz LastMissionTrack.trk dcs.log

Thank you! (bated breath)

Hi, as you can see in my post above, the problem remains. I have to assume this problem affects everybody that tries to load a saved track, given that there are not hundreds of posts about this I have to assume that not many people use / edit a saved track? Can anyone out there in DCS land save a track after an (F-16 or F-18) PLAYER mission and then successfully reload that same track?
