  1. And the winner of the most unsubstantiated and arrogantly misguided conclusion is...
  2. This!
  3. Good luck guys! An attractive aircraft but... "Of a total of 916 aircraft acquired by the German military 292 crashed or were damaged beyond repair during the F104's time in service from 1960 to 1991. This came at the cost of 116 dead pilots, including eight U.S. Air Force (USAF) exchange pilots..."
  4. Is this confined to MP only as I cannot reproduce this issue?
  5. They probably are not "negative people" more likely the are just people with some negative views about the game, I think the distinction is important.
  6. On this topic, I'm guessing / hoping that the icon floating above the active marshal can be turned off? @BIGNEWY ?
  7. And hopefully brighter PAPI lights!
  8. I think this statement by @BIGNEWY encapsulates perfectly the dichotomy that exists between ED management and factions of the customer base, especially "...and priorities which the project managers decide" The project managers' priorities often do not align with the customer base priorities because they are driven by completely different forces, project managers priorities (I would assume) are driven by edicts from ED management whereas customer priorities are usually driven by personal desire and as Kipling said "...and never the twain shall meet" Although in this instance the twain do, occasionally meet.
  9. @BIGNEWY has said previously, I think, that a sun visor will eventually be part of the F-16 retractable visor...
  10. On this subject and I know this is definitely a wish-list item but... When taxiing and on the rollout you release the stick / yoke because you are steering with the rudder pedals, can this be modeled in the future please (like the Hornet pilot holding the restraining handle on a cat launch)? MTIA
  11. As the title suggests, when viewed from the outside the F-16 cockpit is dry, feature or WIP?
  12. Of course this is the case. ED is not a philanthropic organisation it is a business run for profit. ALL businesses can expect criticism. If you put yourself out there in the public domain then the public will criticise, that is a given. I agree wholeheartedly with everything @cfrag has said and I imagine both you and @NineLine also agree with much of it, of course neither of you are at liberty to say so as you are employed by ED. It is a mistake for the DCS customer base to think this is some kind of happy, extended family, it is a business. MS released a flagship product 4 years ago, there was a lot of very vocal criticism about the absence of an intuitive replay system, it has taken them nearly 5 years to address that problem...
  13. Of course! Those 'interviews' are essentially PR.
  14. Understood. I do not run any core mods.
  15. I have 4 _backup folders at the moment but they only account for 86kb in total so I am surprised that deleting your made any significant difference?
  16. These contain files that are non standard to the DCS install. In other words they are mods or changes that have been made to the core files of a standard install - the update locates these files and replaces them with the original file then it backs them up in case you want to review them, they can be safely deleted but the next install will create more backup files if you change any of the original core files. Obviously this does not apply to any changes made in the SAVED GAMES folder.
  17. I just tried it... For me, Caucasus map, F7, I can zoom out for ever, F4, the same, if I press F2 after F4 it zooms out a long way then snaps back to a close view.
  18. Good advice! Mine uses 3% at startup
  19. If you look back at what @Brainspiller said re. " It looks like they are deep in technical dept." leads me to the conclusion that the fact that "it can be done" does not mean DCS can do it (or is willing to do it).
  20. I have to agree with this (even though I am aware that there are HUGE budget differentials between the two)
  21. @BIGNEWY Has said "Vulkan is in progress, no ETA to share yet."
  22. Sadly, for me, it seem like my most highly anticipated features: Air Traffic Control Vulkan Implementation Dynamic Campaign Engine Data Transfer Cartridge Save / Load Game State Will be more "Beyond" than 2025...
  23. This!
  24. As a former RWP I agree with all your descriptions of ATC and especially PIC however your conclusion that CTAF is sufficient is strange given that DCS already implements a bastardised version of ATC and that other major FS that we cannot name () has clearly invested many programming hours in creating a passable ATC environment. DCS is a simulation which prides itself on realism, given that fact, a desire to improve upon an existing feature is laudable, in my opinion. And yet significant development time was invested in prettying up the pilots...
