  1. Yep, I think you're right here Buzz. I was flying a couple of days ago and then did the exact same flight, post update and I was struck how clear everything was. I did a few turns to change lighting positions and could defiantly see a difference. Good to know that Wags has said there is even more work to be done in this area.
  2. Has anyone noticed all the dials and lettering looking much sharper and clear in VR? Just updated and I have a Rift S. Looks so good!
  3. That’s my experience as well Don.

    What Harlikwin said. Nailed it.
  5. I hear you. I have been trying that out this week. I love it!
  6. I played the other F-16 sim for many many years going back to the late 90's. I'm going to wait until it's matured a bit and then jump in. It does look superb.
  7. Great post. We get quite a few in the UK. I have taken my family on holiday to Slovenia twice in the last few tears. Skiing for 2 weeks and a walking holiday taking in Lake Bled. It's a beautiful country and we were made to feel so welcome everywhere we went. Can't wait to go back.
  8. I think it's a good idea. Perhaps have an option when you create a new scenario in the mission editor to have an "era" option but with more detail and depth than what's currently implemented?
  9. Yep, the CK-37 was incredible for it's time. The book I got was published in 1985. It's a fascinating insight into it's development up until that time and it has a chapter on the future which I haven't read yet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Saab-Viggen-Modern-Combat-Aircraft/dp/0711014841
  10. You probably have this all squared away but it's worth mentioning. Before you even take off you would have been given a detailed threat intelligence briefing and if that briefing said "look there is a high IR threat from man-pads or other systems" Your whole squadron will take that into account and completely change tactics based on that threat. To the point of almost thinking about using other systems to deal with it. The point is, it's not you. Those are legit threats and need to be avoided at all costs. It would be great if we had the tools to develop a flight package to take of all that to meet the mission goals etc. But we don't. There is no "alarm bell ringing" Ir threat for you it's visual or just plain avoid it.
  11. I was aware of the 90's upgrade but have to admit I have no idea about the detail. Just ordered a book from Amazon which will hopefully give me more insight. Thanks!
  12. Just started re-learning the Viggen after a long lay off. Dropping BK-90's on a target has to be one of the most satisfying things short of punching the first whole in a new coffee jar seal. I love the cold war old school cockpit and it's old computer. The Viggen was so far ahead of it's time I find it unbelievable when you look at what was around in those days. You have to put a bit of time into learning how to set weapons up but it is so rewarding when you get it right. I love it and if anyone is considering it, you simply have to get it. Thanks Heatblur, between this and using the Lantirn in the Tomcat you have made this human very happy!
  13. It's definitely ok to just use 2 MFD/DDI for just about any mission. I use the HSI a lot and always put that upon one of the two DDI's. The center/lower screen I use more for admin. Fuel, checklists, etc. You can reach any of these pages from the upper screens if you need to anyway so not having that extra screen is far from a show stopper.
  14. I have seen them and they look good. Bit pricey for me at the moment. I can't do anything until the new year. Kids etc. That's something I haven't looked into but will. Thanks!
  15. I used the controllers to push buttons and flick switches etc but I found it cumbersome in the end and reverted back to using the mouse. Which I find very easy in VR. I have tried controlling the stick and throttle with the controllers but that was sloppy and lacked the precision you get with a dedicated HOTAS.
  16. It's 1960's technology. At the time that out of focus stuff was cutting edge tech. Have a look online for Walleye video footage. It looks even worse than the simulation.
  17. One of the moderators on here said that that there was literally no testing of the Walleye and that we were the first ones to try it. If I was at all bothered by this I would simply use 2.5 stable and get on with it. The poll was closed before I could get my vote in. Perhaps have another one until you get the result you were looking for...............cough!

    Walleye zoom?

It’s really worth learning the basics of the mission editor. It’s not hard and will open up a massively creative part of the game for you.
  19. Still a great video though.
  20. Yep, I agree. Real world ops want you to land safely. Those numbers throughout the recovery are benchmarks to hit so you have the best opportunity to be safe. Way to many variables to nail it perfectly and that is not normal or even close to real.
  21. You need to keep the TDC depressed while you slew.
