  1. I think an ice pit would be cool. No pun intended.
  2. Can someone tell me where to find the manual for the Huey?
  3. Silver_Dragon I have seen your work. I know you are working on naval units for DCS. I respect your opinion. That being said I believe plugging naval units into DCS can not provide the immersion of a stand alone product. The water physics alone would make the stand alone worth it. I honestly believe a cross compatible stand alone product to Silent Hunter standards would be a better solution. I hope you make me eat my words.
  4. Naval? If ED is going to branch out GROUND combat would be a much better direction to go in my opinion (more sophisticated than CA I mean). It would most certainly have a larger customer base.. Ship to ship combat would take a lot of water physics and a sophisticated damage model. To me it would make much more sense to design a stand alone naval sim that interfaces with DCS World. You would not need to model the whole DCS world to the naval sim. Just the sea and a few miles inland. Locations could be solved using a 6 axis plotter (this would give approximate locations and behaviors but would not burden the cross title with physics calculations). Models could be complex in one sim and swapped for a simplified model in the other (DCS would use simple ship models and Naval would use simple aircraft and land vehicle models). Example for DCS to Naval DCS Aircraft ID Su25t (external model) Damage Model Physics Calculations (6axis) X Y Z P (pitch) Y(yaw) R (roll) Naval Aircraft ID Simplified Su25T (external model) No Damage Model (6axis) X Y Z P Y R Example Naval to DCS Naval Ship ID Nikolai Kuznetsov (external model) Damage Model Physics Calculations (6axis) X Y Z P Y R DCSl Ship ID Simplified Nikolai Kuznetsov (external model) No Damage Model( 6axis) X Y Z P Y R
  5. That seems to have worked. Thank you.
  6. I am having a very strange problem. I used to have push to talk bound to button 3 on my Logitech G940. I never had an issue with this whatsoever. Then I built a new computer. Now here is where it gets weird. If I set push to talk on my throttle, no matter what button I use, it seems to intermittently go in and out. If I use a button on my joystick it works perfectly. Here is another strange thing. If I assign a keyboard button to my throttle buttons TeamSpeak works perfectly again. One might think the throttle had some kind of problem however when I push a button for a function in BS 2 (like automatic turn to target for instance) and hold the button down the button is held down in game to. So I know it is working correctly with BlackShark. I have updated my USB 3.0 drivers. Any ideas?
  7. Are any flight squads considering starting platoons? Now might be a good time to hype up Combined Arms to the RTS (Real Time Strategy) and WoT (World of Tanks) crowd. Please note I am not talking about people who fly and occasionally do ground operations. I am talking about a team of specialized ground ops people. Maybe they don't even fly at all. This would be a great opportunity to attract people that are not necessarily into flight sims, bring customers to ED, and bring more people into our community. This could also offer an opportunity for 3rd party companies to develop more detailed (as in user interface) ground combat vehicles. I know there are issues right now but I am hoping the move to 64 bit only will eliminate them. I know for a fact that one major flight squadron (I will not say who) is looking into this very concept. What do you guys think?
  8. Please note the Su25T uses the same button to fire guns AND missles. If you are trying to use the same button to luanch missles as with other aircraft then you have found your problem.
  9. I should specify that I did not get it to work by flipping the MWS switch in the Black Shark. What I got was a verbal warning almost like a scripted trigger. It was in a multiplayer mission. The warning seemed to last forever with no ill effects however, if you stayed for a while the missile would indeed hit you.
  10. What is a Ram disk?
  11. This ^^^ I prefer to think of FC depth as entry level or as I put it before "DCS with training wheels" I might remind you that Ka-50 STARTED as a FC product. I do not see the whole DCS/FC argument applying to helicopters so much since helicopters rarely engage in air to air combat.
  12. Yes it does make that much of a difference. Unfortunately it will break if you even look at it wrong. Honestly if you know how to solder I would recommend you order 3 LED's, a battery case, and some resisters and go wireless.
  13. EtherealN I am not sure. If I remember correctly it is like WD Caviar Black or something like that. I actually have 2 1 Terabyte drives but wanted to keep this PC running as well. I figure I will use the other PC for documents (and maybe remote to my job if I am lucky) and gaming ONLY. The one I have now I will use for internet and Email. Thank you for the suggestion I will look into it.
  14. I 100% agree that 24 gigs of RAM is overkill. However, the CPU and 16 Gigs of RAM came as a bundle and the motherboard came with 8 gigs of memory for free. I got 1 Lite on DVD Burner 1 i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4 3 8 gig sticks of Corsair Vengeance RAM 1 cpu fan 120 MM 1 motherboard for $522.60 I already had brand new Thermal take 750 watt Power supply Apevia X-Pleasure Case I will take this off my old PC 1 terabyte drive 1 gig Graphics card with GDDR3 1 sound Card Monitor Speakers Keyboard Mouse Things I do NOT have but will get for free Windows 7 64 bit (through my school I am a student) What I do not have and still need to buy Thermal Paste I did not get everything top of the line but feel I put together a pretty good PC for the price. I wanted a Sandy but sometimes you have to settle when your budget is limited.
  15. I am SO excited about the announcement of the Hind (DCS Newsletter March 2013). Looks like ED is really stepping it up. Good job guys. I would love to see a Hind / Black Shark team working together. That would be SO FREAKING AWESOME.
  16. Do NOT buy the Logitech G940. It has a lot of slop in the middle and the spinner things on the throttle are prone to problems.
  17. OK it seems you were correct. It does indeed support a 64 bit OS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116001 However the argument is irrelevant as the motherboard will not support over 4 gigs of ram (I made sure this time). At any rate I ordered new parts this morning. My new rig will have i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4 and 24 Gigs of Ram with Windows 7.
  18. My CPU does not support 64 bit. I have a Dell E520. I have actually already bought some parts (case and power supply). I get a lot of software free from my school (Windows 8, Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2008, Microsoft Server 2012, a bunch of things). The Dell I have has 2 1 terabyte hard drives so I am good there. I have a 1 gig GDDR3 graphics card. All I really need is a CPU, Motherboard, Optical Drive, and RAM. Problem is I am unemployed and going to school rgiht now. It is hard to justify spending money at this time. And yes I know I need to upgrade. I would also like to state that post I made before was actually supposed to be done in humor. I guess the humor did not translate well. I think if we knew each other on TS or something you would have known that was half intended as a joke.
  19. I see that trimming has been fixed. Thank you for letting me know. Now I am going to have to buy another PC though because DCS is going to 64 bit only. I realize progress waits for no man but I am feeling a bit slapped in the face here. I can not play with the BS for months and now I get a message that I can not play at all with my current PC after a few months. Salt in the wound I tell you.
  20. I have been waiting patiently for a long time now for them to fix the DCS Black Shark 2 force feedback problem on the Logitech G940. Whenever I trim it KICKS to the left. This makes flying practically impossible. Any news on when this might be fixed?
  21. Matt already announced Hind? When? Post the link here please.
  22. Apache? Hind? I really want another modern helo airframe. Long ago Apache screenshots were shown. What happened? Is Apache not on the table anymore? The Hind would also be a great addition. Apache and Hind are probably the most popular combat helicopters in the world. Put me down as a preference for a Hind.
  23. The TrackIR 5 tracks light reflected off the hat clip (I know you know that already). It is possible you are wearing something on your body that is also reflecting the light. The frames of your glasses maybe? It is also possible its a natural light problem coming from a window. Perhaps other times you were playing you had the door closed, now the door is open your TrackR is catching reflected light (not likely). Was someone playing Wii while you you were playing? That can mess with TIR 5 to. One last possibility is your hat clip got bent and and needs to be adjusted. Just some ideas. I recommend getting the TrackClip Pro. It made a world of difference for me.
  24. Well I was actually hoping to see a FC3 level Blackshark. What a great way to get people into helo combat that don't have the time to study the DCS version.
