TRACK IR IS Outdated
ZQuickSilverZ replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I know VR sounds like a great deal. Let me run this by you though, have you thought about the fact you are not going to be able to see your flight stick or your mouse? Oculus Rift is going to be great until you have to use your mouse to flip a switch or turn a dial or reach an odd switch on your TM Warthog, then the faults of it will hit people like a ton of bricks. -
Track IR is outdated. We have much better face tracking technology now being used on consoles. For instance they are doing amazing things with the MS Kinect. I for one would love to see the Wii mote (the motion sensing not the laser) incorporated into a device we can attach to our headphones. There is no way it could be worse than the WIRED, EASILY BROKEN TrackClip Pro. I mean we have not seen any new tech from the TrackIR monopoly ($169.95 for 5 year old RETOOLED software, a camera with a filter on it, and a piece of easily broken plastic with 3 led lights......) since 2009. TrackIR needs to step up their game or get out of the way for someone who will. Anybody feel TrackIR or a competitor could do much better? I certainly do.

Oh, I think you totally intended it. :music_whistling:

My recommendation is to join a squad. I am with the 159th (cadet). They are a great group. If they are not what you are looking for there are many others to choose from.

DCS World 2? I noticed several references to DCS World 2 while visiting ED's Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/eagle.dynamics These were specifically mentioned in the new map DCS: STRAIT OF HORMUZ section. What does DCS World 2 mean? Does that mean an actual sequel or does it mean DCS World 2.XXXXXXX? Are our modules about to be outdated? Can someone please Clarify?

I would love it if on the next update they put the old Black Shark music back in.

I have to say I prefer the guitar music off of the first DCS Blackshark. Seriously did nobody else think that music was awesome? The new DCS Blackshark music makes me want to reach for the mute button, no offence, it is just not my taste. Does anybody know how to put the music from BS 1 into DCSW? It would be appreciated.

Cool, I am really looking forward to the Mi-8 as well. Feel free to leave me a message on here when the time comes. It will be a fun learning experience. I don't want to just putt around though, I want to seriously work as a team and to develop tactics and techniques

Yes I did actually. Thanks for the heads up. I have been out of the loop for about a year. Starting a new career is eating away at my time. Cool. I am excited to hear that. I never saw it in the DCS newsletter though. Should? :( I like will's better :)

Are these coming anytime soon? I can't help but feel ED kind of dropped the ball on this one. I mean it has been well over a year since we heard about it (almost a year and a half). I keep seeing new modules being announced but not one peep about this feature. Honestly this is part of what drew me to the UH-1H and the Mi-8 MTV2.

Why is it every time I see this picture I want a Pepsi? I can't figure it out. Can Yoooooouuuuuu? :D

I don't know much about airbuses but the mechanics of the airline I worked for called them "junk".

Just program a ZONE in your pedals for toe brakes. Set the last 50 percent of your travel as "activate breaks" (as in the last 50 activates a key press for brakes). The reason your aircraft is probably going out of control is because you did not set the axis controls properly. You may have them but they are probably on multiple controllers or shared by the same controller in 2 different areas.

I already have 2 rocket slingers ( Huey and Mi-8 ). If I can't take on tanks then I believe I will keep my money in my wallet this time. I would feel like I was buying another Huey ( though less capable with no troop transport ). Just my opinion. Beyond that...... HIND.

Bump.... I wonder if ED has any interest in doing this. I would def buy the T.

I was not being smug. I am aware of SLI and Crossfire however, like Harzach, I have NEVER seen it abbreviated as XFire. Never. I am not saying that it has not, I have just never personally seen it. -

How did a thread about XFire warrant 4 comments about graphic cards? -
I own every module I listed. The only modules I do not own are Su25A, FC3, and the new World War 2 one. I know where the files are located, they are just not there. I would not ask for a manual for a product I did not own, as that would be asking for part of a product I did not pay for. That is a valid point. The manual I have is in my DCS documents however is for the Mi7 and seems to match the Mi-8. The one I have is in English. Though it is for the Mi-7. Maybe it was a bad-aid. Maybe so. I find it odd that the RL manual would have all the instrumentation labeled in Russian in the actual cockpit but have the manual in English. Actually, that is exactly what I am asking for.

I would like to know how to go about getting documentation for aircraft I have downloaded and installed. I know where to find it on my computer but I am missing some items. These are what I need: DCS A10-A Flight Manual (Stand Alone) DCS A10-A QuickStart Manual (my current file appears to be a quickstart for Flaming Cliffs 3 in general) DCS Combined Arms QuickStart Manual DCS Su25T Manual (I have it but it does not seem to represent the new 3D cockpit, maybe it is outdated?) DCS Su25T QuickStart Manual (if there is one) DCS uH-1H Manual (I HAD it but have no idea where it is now... I think I dragged it to my tablet by mistake instead of copying it) Updated DCS Mi-17-1V-Flight Manual (if it exist my current manual is 211 pages of black and white ugly) DCS Mi-17-1V QuickStart Is there a way to download JUST the manuals? I really don't feel like downloading entire modules and reinstalling them just to get the manual. I would like to request they be emailed to me (with ED' and Belsimtek's permission). Would anybody be willing to email them to me if permission is given (to a loyal longstanding customer :))?

It is very bad yes. So bad I have had trouble sleeping. I have strong evidence that it is the joystick. I recently moved and my PC was down for about a month and my flight gear for about two. During that two months I had no issues. As soon as I starting playing DCS again the symptoms returned almost immediately. I would hate to think I was allergic to DCS :megalol: In all seriousness I hate this. I mostly play helo's and value force feedback for the trimming capability. I really have no other options besides the G940. Even if I did I am not in a position to make a purchase at this time. I would give anything to have an updated Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 (or I guess in this case 3). I still have my 2 and it is an awesome stick, it just does not have enough buttons. The G940 has been disappointing on every level. Half the time the hat and cross pad don't work on the throttle (2 directions each fail all the time), the stick has a lot of slop and is imprecise, the R2 scrolling wheel on the throttle jumps around. I guess I will have to start wearing gloves....... yuck. I really, really, REALLY wish Microsoft would step up and release a force feedback again.
