Back In Black(Shark 2) Hi people. I have not been online playing due to a defective (read broke) graphics card. I have not been keeping tabs on DCS Blackshark so I was shocked, to say the least, to see Blackshark 2. Let me start with this. I am a bit dissapointed by the upgrade for 2 reasons. 1. I feel like I am being asked to to pay money for something that was advertised with the origional version. People say $20 dollars is cheap. Well that depends on how you look at it. $20 is not a lot of money but it is 50 percent of the purchase price of the origional product. From that perspective it is pretty expensive. I can see paying for the graphic upgrades but the online compatibility should be a free patch. I bought this product to play online and I feel like the feature (compatibility with future DCS titles) that I bought it for is being held hostage for $20. I feel for anyone in the future that has to pay $20 dollars PER airframe after ED gets a good sized stable. 2. People that play online now may not have computers capable of running the updated versions. I can hear people say "Well so what they can still play DCS BS1 and FC 2.0" and thats true they can. However lets look a bit deeper. A lot of people belong to squads (it divides them) and even if they don't they essentially get left behind and it shrinks the community. I understand that it takes time and money to develop these sims and no, I do not believe people should work for free. But advertising future DCS online compatability with future modules then chargeing $20 dollars for it just feels off. In the future if we have 8 aircraft are we going to have to pay 160 dollars just to stay compatable?????? I don't think we will. I am hoping after a while it will kind of level out and these monster "upgrades" will not be needed. In other words I am hopeful that these are just growing pains. Still it would be nice for ED to let us know how they intend to handle these "future issues". I am interested in your opinions about this subject. I will remind you that if they have a Blackshark 3 this sim will cost 200 percent of the origional purchase price. Getting expensive yet? If were going to do this I just as soon pay a monthly (You buy an airframe then pay a monthly ($5) payment for points. After you get so many points you use them to buy another permanent aircraft at a 10 percent discount from retail or rent one for 20 percent of purchase price for one month. Sound Fair? If you opt out you get a full refund in line with available points but at least they got to earn interest off your money to apply to development needs) and have access to all the airframes and give ED much needed development money.

You paid a whole $19.99 for that (:))?

I agree about having all the icons. You could create a DCS folder just for this game (DCS, FC 2, Track IR, TeamSpeak, and Game Commander is what I have in mine). After about the fourth module though its going to start getting crowded in there. I would like some sort of launcher for all the DCS titles.

I have hardwood floors also. I used one of those rubber mats that you would place at the front door. I have not had any issues. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_03775873000P?sid=IDx20070921x00003h&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=21-167088747-2 http://www.cobaeurope.com/product.aspx/54/COBAscrape http://www.commercialmatsandrubber.com/c6/Superfoam-Foam-Anti-Fatigue-Matting-p712.html http://www.rubberflooringinc.com/mats/straight-cut-mat.html Here are some examples. Personally I like option 3. Or you could try wal-mart. By the way that bloody footprint bathmat is nasty...... Why would you want that in your house? Seriously?

I see. Well thats the software business. It is never on time is it? Look at what ED said thier release schedule would be (every 9 months) and look how it actually turned out. But thats ok because they put out a good product right? The fact they are still taking pre-orders to me is a good sign. I hope Tac Pac really takes off. Then I hope to see some of those people pick up ED titles.
-
I called this post Tic Tac Pac because I am hoping Tac Pac will freshen FSX up (breath mint tac pac just sounded stupid). I made this post because I would like to discuss the possibility of adding surface war ships later. VRS stating they would accept add ons from vendors gives me hope. I would like to see naval units with the capability to engage other naval units, aircraft, and ground targets on the shore. Maybe even captain an aircraft carrier. Might be fun to direct a pilot in for a landing. Kind of a captain / aircraft controller scenario.:poster_offtopic::idea:

In which sim did you spend most of your flight hours?
ZQuickSilverZ replied to BKLronin's topic in Chit-Chat
:megalol: I have the most time in DCS BlackShark. Second place would be FC2. Third FSX. If I could ever figure out how to get X-Plane 9 (X-Plane's 9 interface is TERRIBLE) online and could find a group to do hops with I would like to see what it has to offer. -

Eddie any chance on DCS BS swiching over?? -
I never listened to Amy Winehouse. I did know of her reputation however. She abused alcohol and crack cocaine. She had an eating disorder. She was in one abusive relationship after another. Seeing her on that stage in that condition is proof to me that the people that market her cared nothing for her. Not her bodily health nor her spiritual health. They just used her up. As many have stated its sad but hardly unexpected. Welcome to the uncaring world of corporate music.

Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals
ZQuickSilverZ replied to Gonzo01's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The answer is it depends. Usually no. However you sometimes use it for short term wind correction (for long term just trim) or certain maneuvers. You use it to keep altitude at extreme bank. You may also use it to make small corrections when strafing. Hope that helps. -

Thanks for the link. As I stated previously though, I am not a new TIR user. I have had it and used it for a year and a half. Again, thanks for the link. -
TrackIR 4 I am a bobblehead
ZQuickSilverZ replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I have had my TrackIR about a year. Ironically I think it is my chair that is the problem (I use an oak kitchen chair). I think if I had a chair that leaned me back instead of hunching forward (a bigger monitor would help to I think as I have to lean forward to see any targets at all) it would help a lot. I think leaning back would make my body a lot more stable. Think that might be the problem? Is it a simple matter of comfort and ergonomics? Thanks PeterP for showing me how to put Youtube videos IN the forum. Can we make bobblehead an offical term? -
I am WH_QuickSilver and I am a bobblehead. What is a bobblehead you may ask? A bobblehead is a term I have invented for people that fidget so much that it makes TrackIR difficult to use. It is not a problem with the hardware. It is a problem with the user. What I am after is a profile that kind of "sticks" to center. Say a 3 inch tolerance. before it starts movement. Can anybody help me out with this. I need your help Mr. Wizard (whoever you may be).

That is interesting. I did not know you could do that. I have my joystick doing key presses so I guess I never explored the games profiler that deeply.
-
I thought you could only do ONE shift (I guess your refering to them as modifiers) function. Are you saying you can get more than two functions per button.
-
I posted a setup already. It is only good for Su25t however. I am sure it can be modified for the other aircraft. Here is the link http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1240938#post1240938 Every button can do two things when you use the Logitech profiler. However you need to program a shift key to get the secondary function. Note this shift is not the shift on your keyboard but a function of the stick, also note that the hat switch can be programmed with 2 functions as well. Voice Control Software (I use Game Commander 2) can make up for any buttion deficiencies. You can have a coms button (one button / two functions) that works for both TS3 and Voice Control Software using the shifting method without fear of "crosstalk". If you have any questions or are intrested in Voice Control Software give me a PM. Edit....... Wow I feel stupid. You need one for DCS BS. OK I will work one up and post it. Chalk this to a long day in 100 plus degree weather.

You can see it because it is on your computer. Also that link does not work. Your batting 1000.
-
You win??? All I see is a small square with a red X in it. Think you might need to fix that unless thats your entry.
-
Thank you. Also note I have noticed the TrackIR 4 works a lot better mounted to the left side of the screen, on top of the screen I had trouble with it losing track whenever I would look down. Now it never loses track. You can rotate the camera's orientation in the TrackIR profiler software. Go to the camera tab under advanced settings and then go to camera rotation. After that select 270*.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Profile
ZQuickSilverZ replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I play with a G940. I don't see anything wrong with the Logitech 3D Extreme Pro it is a perfectly serviceable stick. We got 31 commands on a 12 button joystick. I think thats pretty impressive.
