  1. This. And that. If we get a JAG we'll need a sub-variant that can l@ze, so we can use it's utmost potential in conjunction with other modules. Even if it's not fitting 100%, like a GR.
  2. The Magic 2 is arguably the better missile but takes three seconds to come off the rail. JULI is good but will launch in one second.
  3. +1 IIRC it used to be in the first release but somehow vanished in some patch.
  4. It may be worth mentioning that the old AGP-72 was a lot more radar than what a J with a "down" system could offer. That was the case relatively frequently until they fixed the most pressing bugs with the AWG-10A. Only the AWG-10B (mid-late seventies?) made the full potential of the AWG-10 available reliably. Plus the F-4B should be lighter versus the J (like the N is compared to the S). Still hoping we'll be getting VTAS for the late birds - as a ME check-option.
  5. I'm your evil twin, which naturally gave me all the taste I think the wraparound SEA in the back also looks kinda nice - certainly better than the grey bellied jet in front. Is the fancy black noseflash on the Euro One jet a hommage to MN ANG?
  6. That's true, they're looking much better Love the -542 scheme. Especially with the stylized flash. /OT Lance, I think there was a boatload of ANG squadrons flying non-TIESO Echos. The Blacksnakes from FW should be among them. The ANG squadrons generally are pretty interesting with their variety of aircraft and paintschemes. Making squadron-skinpacks that feature SEA, Euro One and Hill One should be really cool endeavours for dedicated skinners.
  7. Great find, thanks! The FL should also be able to carry the GP-9, correct? FL it is, then Ya hear, @WinterH? FL, FL, FL!
  8. BuNo 153915 (Rock River 105) was a B at this time, though: No worries, your input is always appreciated! What I meant with the F-7B is an additional outboard hardpoint: It's kind of a sweet spot between the initial F-13 and the more capable third generation M/MF jets.
  9. Do you mean four pylons as in four pylons on four hardpoints or are you referring to the Monsun pylon, enabling two heaters on a single hardpoint?
  10. The early F-4E should fit into the tail-end of the Linebacker Raids, so yeah, it's *just* okay for SEA missions and it's also very useful for post Nickel Grass Yom Kippur War missions. Not sure if there had even been "proper" IDF aircraft delivered with slats before the YKW. There might have been a hand full. It's not sure what type of Navy Phantom we're going to get. My bet is on a J and the S, but I could be wrong and I wouldn't mind. They're all good choices. The N came to the fleet just after the hot portion of the SEA conflict was over and it streamlined the previously and varyingly upgraded B models into a common variant, incorporating some J features (like the slotted stab and uplocked inboard LE droops). Going down the B line (pun intended) would cover the greatest timeframe from the early-mid 60s, into the 80s with two or three iterations of the B/N. As to the Fishbeds, the only variant I would let out of your list is the PF, as it's too close to the F-13 in terms of capability. Or the really lack thereof. The PFM at least has the improved radar and the gunpod. The MF from my perspective only makes sense once we have one of the earlier models squared away, as it's comparatively close to Bis capabilities.
  11. This is the EQ in France: https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1659703 I had seen a couple of cockpit shots somewhere (some instruments / equipment had been missing there). Edit: Found it. http://les-heros-de-bagdad.over-blog.com/2018/03/le-mirage-f1-eq-en-image.html The site is very interesting. If you can read some French, you might want to consider getting the books.
  12. Your point being? The EDA and M are two different pairs of shoes with the EDA being pretty close to the EQ5/6 and CR/CT, which is what most people would like to see. The *other variants* will be the BE, which is basicly a two-seat CE with 200l less gas and no internal guns.
  13. Lots of PFMs in the Middle East as well. Same. Even though I'd prefer an F-7B with those outboard pylons for additional combat capability over the F-13.
  14. I have a copy of Vlamgat myself, so I know about the embargos in place for the SAAF, which part of my post you chose to ignore. Bummer. The S530F is very much better than the R-3R.
  15. I disagree. The proper opponent of the F1 was the MiG-23. The -21 didn't have the Fox 1 capability to pose a threat to a decently armed (read: non-embargoed) F1 user fielding S530Fs. Non-embargoed SAAF would also have had the opportunity to buy Magic 2s in the late 80s, which would have turned the favor back on relatively equal terms vs the R-60 armed MiG-23s. Yeah. I'll just throw in the moroccan RDY upgrade for the F1. Go, eat some MICAs...
  16. It's not close enough for me. Don't forget about the F-100D, which I'd want to fly out of the Hoas and Da Nang. Edit: Almost forgot about Phu Cat, the Spad and my two favourite chicks: Sandy and Misty.
  17. I can't see why either module would steal any customers away from the other one. Yes, there's a considerable mission-overlap between the two, but I'd hazard a guess that people who are interested in the experience of that mission will end up owning both aircraft anyway. Those who end up buying just one module are probably not giving a toss about the other aircraft anyhow.
  18. Not sure there were too many bombs tossed at all, after the tensions with the Libyans were eased in the early 90s. Operation Épervier seems to have turned mostly into a show of force by that time. If anybody does have a hint on literature beyond "Libyan Air Wars" and "France in Centrafrique", I'd be listening closely as well.
  19. Literally in the first post of this thread. It's about as "multirole" as a microwave oven.
  20. Those are all good points, but remember I said "upgraded Su-15", as in "the Soviets took some cash and put more modern hardware onto it". I'm thinking of it as a fictional third generation Su-15 (much like the MiG-23MLA and -MLD were to the Flogger family). The J-8 has about 15% more wing-area in the first place, so it should be outperforming the Su-15TM in all categories that count on the wing-department. Interesting piece of info on the LE camber, thanks!
  21. The J-8 and Su-15 are very similar in dimensions and weight and they share the same basic engine - the R-13/ WP-13. The major external difference is the double-delta on the Su-15TM. I'd expect them to be ballpark-comparable in terms of performance.
  22. Can the J8II be used as a believable "upgraded" Su-15 stand-in? HUD and avionics aside. They seem to be fairly close overall.
  23. I've always found it odd that I'm usually running into a gear LIM warning on take-off during the gear retraction, despite lifting off below 200kts and cranking up the gear handle right away. Seems like the gear retraction takes too much time. The cycle should take 3-4'ish seconds. Takes roundabout from 08:05 to 08:08. I've seen other videos where the gear-swing takes much less time than in game, too. 1:50 to 1:54. 3:25 to 3:39. 0:12 to 0:16 (doors are still open at 0:15, when the shot cuts away). Seems like gear deployment (swinging down) takes longer and is more in tune of what is shown in game.
  24. Aren't you supposed to put the throttle into idle between 300 and 600RPM? I'm usually waiting for 400-500, just to be pendantic and hit the center of the band. Never had an engine die after statup, so far.
