  2. @MAESTR0 "Wolfsburg Airport" should actually be called "Braunschweig". It's currently officially known as Braunschweig-Wolfsburg, but that's just marketing. It has always been known as "Waggum" (which is the village just north of the field and which is part of Braunschweig's municipality) or later simply as "Braunschweig". This should be it's 1980's correct length: It was later (in 2011) lengthened to it's current size, allowing 737 andA320-family sized aircraft to operate from there. Proves that brown grass sometimes is a thing in Niedersachsen as well: 2018 (when the pic was supposedly taken) was an awesomely dry year, though - I remember in Berlin it was *summer* between the end of March almost into late October...   3. That's a good point. NS is recieving a good deal more rain, though, while eastern Brandenburg - especiall just east of Berlin - can be very dry throughout the year. I do agree with @Smith that there's a bit too much contrast between brown and green.

  5. The drawback of using the invisible FARP tool is that it will cut into scenery objects, deleting them. If the invisiFARP could do it's FARPing without cutting into the scenery, we'd have a more useful tool. What we'd mostly need is the abiity to remove roadside objects (mostly guardrails). If the roads are already featured with lacking guardrails in the required areas, we're 90% there already. The Autobahn doesn't have streetlights, so those should not be in the way in the first place.

  7. And this is Wittstock today. Plenty of bronwnish dry grass and dry soil. It's all down to the season and whether we've had a dry summer or plenty of rain. I've seen grass in Berlin during a dry summer that looked like it came straight from Serengeti Park.

  10. Bremgarten should be within Phase 3. Same with Colmar - literally just a stone's throw to the west, across the Rhine. The river's kink along the D52 road is the first prominent kink on the map, travelling south-to north. Colmar airbase is just between Meyenheim and Hirtzfelden. Hard to see on the maps screenshot, but I wanted to show both airfields and the prominet kink onthe river. The phase 3 boundary runs just to the north of Basel-Mulhouse airport (sorry, Switzerland, you're left ou of the party), which is a bit special, since it's on french turf but has a swiss terminal. Edit 2: I just took a quick and dirty screenshot showing the roundabout map boundary in phase 3 and the location of both, Bremgarten and Colmar. Wittmund, Jever and Hopsten look like they'll be added in Phase 3. By the looks of it, Bremgarten will have a more detailed pattern than Wittmund, though. That's not a loss, however. Only cows, sheep and gibberish speaking people up there...
  11. NUE should be included in Phase 3 just by the lines on their map. Grafenwöhr looks to be just within Phase 3. I think the same should apply to Katterbach. Hohenfels might just be outside of Phase 3. The Phase 3 expanssion will stop just north of both, Schwäbische Alb and Fränkische Alb, which are in turn just north of Danube river. @MF1 by the lines of their map, all te bases you mentioned should be in phase 3 - Nancy-Ochey might just south of the phase 3 boundary. We'll have to wait and be patient. Marville - RCAF, later AdlA base - for example is basicly right on the phase 3 boundary line.

  13. Looks like AdlA bases... - Colmar - Strasbourg - Metz - possibly Nancy-Ochey ...will be in phase 3. FATac galore! Grostenquin (RCAF) and Marville will most certainly be in Phase 3, which is majorly nice for the upcoming F-104, as all the RCAF bases in Europe will be on the map.

  15. In this case, it's supposed to mean "radial X + DME" to "radial Y + DME" direct without intercepting the radials first. Normally, fixes are defined by two navaids (or some ancient RNAV stuff), but this is advanced sheet

Is there any quick way of wrapping one's mind around fix-to-fix (or point to point), or will it always require spending some time with a couple of sheets of paper and a pen to visualize several situations and coming up with a couple of rules of thumb? Fix-to-fix is pretty much black magic to me I mean, it's all about relative bearings since you're not intercepting the radials first, but going there directly instead. Easy in the F1 with the TACAN (or waypoint) offset function, but a great deal harder in any other jet.
  17. The issue is not the sensitivity, but the output-delay of the NWS. It takes a finite amount of time for your input to "happen", so you'll have a tendancy to make a too coarse (and too long on the time-scale) input, which you'll then try to correct with an even greater input into the other direction. The cure is to stab the rudder - kind of like flying an tailwheel aircraft. Make an input for 1s, return to neutral, wait for the aircraft to respond and then go from there on. Another way of doing things is to just make inputs progressively and slowly. Changing curves might help a bit here and there, but it will not change the input-delay and thus you'll always have a tendency to over-control and PIO. Some people do turn off the NWS entirely, using directional braking.
  18. @Bananabrai and myself have seen similar issues flying down the ILS at Akrotiri. Myself in an F1 on Banana's wing (him in the F-4E). He also had a split between the FD and the HSI. The ILS Localizer is usually always (a few exceptions apply, such as e.g. Bergen) exactly down the runway. Since my ILS needle (raw data) was centered, it's not an ILS-sided issue.

  20. And I'm working for a regulator, reading and approving manuals on a daily basis - most of them directly tied to aircraft maintenance or maintenance organisations. Before that a couple of years working in maintenance itself. That includes (drums intensifying!) Weight and Balance calculations and actual weighing following configuration changes. On top of that I've flown aircraft myself before and I hold a dispatcher's certificate. On top of that I hold two degrees in Aerospace Engineering. So let's just assume for a second you're not the only guy who's read a manual or spoken about W&B in his life. And when a FAST pack is attached to the jet, the new basic weight and moment data is updated. That's because it's a configuration change and not a loadout. It's also going to stay on the jet for a while. Because somebody obviously approved it. And if it does, it's not found under the loadouts, as it's part of the current, updated basic configuration. That config change includes supplementing data in other manuals. Like supplements to the dash one (e.g.drag index data for mission planning) or MX related manuals. ...or it's just a simple weighing with a redetermination of the new W&B data (including CoG shift d/t fuel burn if applicable), entered into the aircraft's docs after the installation of the packs. Supplement a couple of manuals with the correct updated data and you're good to go. Actually quite a no-brainer. You can do that for a whole squadron of jets in less than a day if you've prepared correctly. I'm gonna steal that if you don't mind.
  21. That's exactly what I wrote and implied. Hence my reference to the 57th FIS, flying the packs for over a decade. That's an assumption on your part. The FAST packs, just like the CFTs, are (semi) permanent eqipment on the jet and are to be accounted for in the W&B report - precisely because you'd not slap them on or off just prior to a mission. You'd attach them to a group of jets due to a special mission requirement for a period of time. As seen with the 57th FIS. Or even longer, if you're looking at the IDF and RSAF. It doesn't, unless you'll assume the rules applying to the Echoes for some reason aren't applying to the Charlies.

  23. I can confirm it does turn a bit sharp, but it will turn smoother when you're close and after pre-contact is called. Granted, it's not ideal for getting to learn refuelling...
  24. Have you tried talking to the tanker? Usually they'll stop their rollercoasting once you check in.
