  1. The new GUI looks great :)
  2. Fly upside-down for some time. Or, close the oil/coolant cooling doors. :)
  3. It's lot of tedious work just get the foundations done - the functionality for creating missions and parsing the mission result. Then you have somehow represent the region, define airfields, road map, water bodies, cities, buildings, terrain (you need this if you want some kind of ground war) - I don't know if these information can somehow be extracted from the map data files, if not...well, you're screwed. Then comes the juicy parts of generating meaningfull missions - defining goals for AI, generating meaningful flights, simulating what happens outside the generated mission bubble and ensuring that it's consistent with what would happend if that part was processed in-game. It's ton of hard work just to get some kind of simple prototype....
  4. What was the attitude of those missiles? Afaik F6 only shows speed in one plane (forward/backward), so if you have a missile falling at AoA (not nose-diving it) it should show the missile decelerating.
  5. Newflash, pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop a cure for cancer all the time. Do you see any crowdfunding for these companies? "Donate money for Bayer, or else...." ED is a established company, having a functionall business model (if they hadn't they would follow the rest of sim developers going bankrupt). They should focus on improving that business model - and they are doing that by opening dcs to 3rd parties. Relying on charity (what crowdfunding for such company is) for paying their employes wage is just bad. And a planing nightmare from a financial standpoint. You just have no way to estimate your income in advance. And worse, what if, after a year or two, those money will not be sufficient? You go bankcrupt while having obligation to people who already funded your development. No-one is forbidding you from buying multiple licenses of EDs products, if you want to support them extensively.
  6. Yep. If you want to test it just set it to something really low (i.e 5) and use lctrl+Pause in-game to check if it is really limiting your fps.
  7. You only see wingtips from the Su25A cockpit, so most likely only section of wings broke off. The remaining section of wings provided enough lift to keep the plane in the air. And if they had the same portion missing then they both generated the same amount of lift, not causing severe roll tendency, which you experience when you damage only one wing.
  8. Also keep in mind that any changes to airfield layout may break compatability with missions using that airfield. At best, static objects placed besides taxiways may end up on them, blocking trafiic, at worst - triggers bound to a specific location where player starts/has to park will not work.
  9. Glad to hear it helped. When you find the HW causing problems, try to reinstall its drivers or plug it into another USB.
  10. Count me in. These friday updates are great :) Keep doing them, please :)
  11. I don't get what the problem with FC lvl aircrafts is. Having wide range of fidelity is a very good thing to have as it will attract people with different preferences to DCS World, strengthening the platform. Forcing high-fidelity on every addon will achieve nothing, as developers who cannot/don't want/don't feel confident developing a high-fidelity mod will just move to another platform (FSX, X-plane...), and we, DCS World users, will end up will less mods to choose from.
  12. Try to remove all peripherals (hotas, joystick, wheel...etc) except for mouse and keyboard. And then try to run the game.
  13. AFAIK the only thing protected besides the pilot is the gearbox. Everything else is covered by light plating that can be penetrated even by small arms fire. Keep in mind that armour is heavy and you want that thing to fly and be maneuverable ;)
  14. With trackIr your 'head' position moves forward. The HUD remains the same size, because that's how HUD IRL work. They are focused at infinty and appear the same size no matter how close you are to the glass. Without trackIr you use zoom, not head position change. That's why HUD gets bigger, because you're narrowing the FOV. You're not getting closer to the hud, only zooming-in. You achieve the same thing with TrackIr if you change the binding of Z-axis from camera position to zoom.
  15. The Su-25 pit looks so sweeeeeeeet :)
  16. That was faster then expected :) /me runs to e-shop to buy FC3 before price change :D
  17. Yes, just remember to award 50points right at mission start, so the player will not be pushed back a stage if he just quits the mission before takeoff. :)
  18. Ow :( Rest in Peace My condolences to his family.
  19. Software developer, currently working for a company developing SW for aeronautical information services.
  20. This is how they do it in soap opera :D
  21. You got it wrong right from the start :)
  22. No, the ability to have a refund is the only valid option in this case. They failed to provide a service the customer payed for. It doesn't matter if it will be fixed in a week or two, it didn't work at the time of purchaces. The same for bugs that get apparent in later game stages. No allowing a refund, because it's a digital download, is ignorance and abuse on EAs part. It's bound to your origin account and there is no way you will be able to play it after they disable it. Games should be refundable as any faulty goods you pruchace. If my new sat-nav is freezing every 15minutes, then I want a refund, I'm not interested in a SW upgrade thay will come in 2-weeks, that might solve the problem. The same should apply to games.
  23. Microtransactions are a tool. A tool for monetization of your game, if done right it can benefit the player while bringing steady revenue for the developer (AAA game development is insanely expensive) . One of such games is Team Fortress 2, which is free, but you have the ability to buy items with IRL money. But those items don't break the balance of the game, most of the stuff is purely cosmetic and the weapons are not better then the ones freely available. This model benefits me, because I'm able to play a AAA multiplayer shooter for free. DLC, Microtransaction, etc are all tools, they aren't nor good, nor bad, it's the way they are implemented that can be either good or bad.
  24. Not even close to open source, not open source at all. What I see here is - You have to go proprietary retail if you want to be successful. An idea is enough to get you started, but you need money if you want a full feature title. Not to mention those projects started as mods of proprietary sw - the base was prepared by the companies making those titles. There would be no Dayz without ArmA, no Dota without W3, no Counterstrike without half-life. Name me one successful open-source title that isn't based on leaked proprietary source code (like OpenTT, or Freespace SCP)? Or a remake of an old-old-old title (theme hospital remake).
  25. Well, Ubisoft dropped u-play requirement after their realized it hurts them more then piracy. Diablo III had terrible launch, but much better then simcity, the game was playable no-probs on day 2. I have the feeling this will be Civ 4 vs Civ 5 all over again. For me it looks like (judging from gameplay vids) SC 5 is shallower in some areas, but much much deeper in other. It looks like a great game to me, which makes the disastrous launch even sadder.
