I'm getting quite frustrated with this mission so I'm seeking advice how to beat it (other then editing it). For those who don't know : your protect is to protect Nalchik airbase from an airstrike. The whole red force is 3x 2 ship flights of Su-27, you leading one of them. The enemy force consist of 2xF-15C(Fighter Sweep), 4xF16 (SEAD), 4x F-15E (Strike team). I just don't know how to approach this mission. Our team manages to take down the F-15C but expend most of their missiles and ussualy loose a plane or two (this is before I ever manage to get airborne). The rest of the force (usually 4xSu-27) just get shredded with the 8 aim-120 armed airplanes (which imho they should get, but hey, that's how the mission is designed). I try to focus on the F-15E (usually manage to kill one or two), because that is the mission objective, but there is no way how to comunicate this to the AI. I'm an A2A noob so any advice is welcomed.

TBH, ED is heavily resposible for this. In most of the missions you're tasked with fighting hordes of enemies, and don't you dare to leave one tank undestroyed - mission incomplete. ED mission designe took a nose-dive after BS1.

Tbh, presenting myself as a bait and relying on the AI stupidity to engage me at maximum range isn't my defintion of 'right'. I'm looking forward to the day when IADS will become reality and 'tactics' like these will no longer be possible.

All DCS asked for reactivation - none required
winz replied to Ratfink's topic in Payment and Activation
Were you holding any keys down? Holding Shift while starting the Sim part (when the gui closes and the mission starts to load) brings up the starforce activation window. -
My f7 key doesn't seem to work in the game
winz replied to mr_mojo97's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It can be caused by TrackIr. TrackIR uses F7 as the default key to enable/disable smooth mode. Change it to something else and it should work. -
Released first proper version 1.0 Main changes from previous version -Added filter by season option, to use only weathers having the same season as the mission launched -Added weather detail panel, so you can examine the weather properties in-game -Added group mode - allows to group various weather into a single group and specify how likely you're to encounter weathers from that group for a specific season (i.e. how often you're to experience rain in fall missions, or strom in spring missions) Standing issue- still SP only issue. I'm 100% convinced that the approach I'm using for SP will not work for MP. A workaround is being worked on, will require additional configuration by user, but the 'invisibility' of the app should be unaffected. Should be implemented in next version. Updated first post with details and zipped app. :) Hope you'll enjoy it. :)

The original Lock-on is available at my local game store for 7 euro, its part of a 'collection of classic PC Games' -
Why do people think in binary? It's either DCS A-10C lvl, or its a stupid hawx arcade. Just for start, there are systems not implemented corectly in the DCS A-10C, can you name even one of them? And if, how did you found out it is not implemented correctly? And does the wrongly implemented system affects your experience? Hell, isn't A-10C a piece of HAWX arcade, because it doesn't implement IFF and most of JDAM functionality?... The truth is, 99% of users cannot do it even for Falcon 4, that has a lot more 'wrongly' implemented systems. Does it degrate the sim experience? No. You have no way of telling how the DCS F-35A experience will be. And you'll have no way of telling what systems are done right, and what systems are done wrong, because you don't know how those system operate IRL. And just because a system isn't fully implemented doesn't mean that system will be HAWX lvl. As for the last part, that's what modern avionics try to achieve.

Falcon 4, one of the best sim in the history, didn't simulated the F-16 1:1...by the standards of some folks here it is then an arcady piece of cr..HAWX...

Another toy to play with.. never a bad thing :)

Thanks :) Creating weather condition out of a metar is definitely one of end goals ;)
-
It might be easier, once you get used on it. Before that your brain will be just overloaded with sensory inputs its not used to and would take lot of cognitive power for you to sort. Rememer your first time driving a car? You might have had all the theory background and 'sim' experience, once the car started moving you had the feeling that even 20kph is too fast. And trying to perform even the most basic things, like gear shifting, required all of your attention.

Not yet, it's on the do-to list. With things like weather grouping and weighted propability (like 60% clean weather, 30% for rain, 10% for hell) Right now there is only a simple 'this doesn't make sense' filter, like snowing in summer should not happen.

Troposphere v1.0 Weather replacer for DCS World What is it? Troposphere is an application for DCS World designed to enhance the experience by offering different weather condition every time you start a mission. Troposphere allows you to build a database of various weather condition which are then automatically inserted into the mission you are about to fly. More specifically, Troposphere affects this information: Type of weather engine used – Static or Dynamic. Season Temperature Cloud information Precipitation Wind Conditions Turbulences Fog QNH Baric systems Troposphere can be easily set-up in just few minutes and after set-up is absolutely invisible, as it doesn’t need to be running in background to function. Sadly, for the time being, this is SP only. MP functionality is being working on and should come in the next version. And, please also keep in mind, that this software doesn't enhance the representation of weather in DCS World, so the weather will not look better, fancier or more real, it will just be more varied. Main Features Varied conditions - Different weather every time you hit the play button Customizability - Rainy fall, or a stormy spring, you can easily specify what conditions should be more common for each season. Quick to set-up - The set-up can be done in just few minutes and a set-up guide is included in the manual. Invisible - Set-up and forget this app even exist. No need to keep it running in the background, it will get called when needed by DCS automatically. Requirements .Net 4.0 How does it work? Some might be interested if there is any risk in running this -like sim stability, mission corruption. Understanding how it works should make things clearer. -When launching a mission, DCS doesn't directly uses the selected mission. It copies it to a temp folder first and the 'sim' part then uses this temp copy. -There is a function in MissionEditor\modules\me_mission.lua, play. This function gets called by the menu everytime user presses the play button, it is responsible for making this copy. This is the place where the app 'hooks' itself, by adding a simple 'base.os.execute(install path)' with path to the mission give as the parameter. The app then unzips, replaces weather, and zips the temp mission, just before menu starts to load the 'sim part'. Issues -The main issue is - this is SP only so far. Will not affect MP in any way. The mission loading process is different, and the approach used for SP is not possible in MP. Because of that MP will have to use different approach, which is already figured out and should be implemented in the next version. -The weather report you get at mission selection is wrong. This is because the report is based on the original mission, and not the modified, temp one. Download&Install Zip file is attached to this post. Download it and extract to any location you see fit. Follow the instruction from the manual (attached to post and included in zip) to set-up the app. Feedback, bug reports, ideas, opinions..etc is very welcomed ;) Troposphere.zip Troposphere Manual.pdf

The amount of awsomess just cannot be expressed... This is beyond perfect :)

The same, ticked everything. I'm interested in all the news! :)

C0ff said its interrelated. Why? Because now DCS has an simulation engine that is heavily interconnected with an graphical engine. To make a dedicated server they first need to split those two apart, and that cannot be done just by deleting the graphical engine stuff in the source code. And guess what new graphical engine implementation needs? The same thing - spliting the current engine into two separate components. That's why it is interrelated. The second thing is that they will not invest manpower (read money) on making significant changes on something that will "soon" be obsolete (that being the current graphical +sim engine implementation).

Campaign is now available in user files section. :)

REVANCHE for FC 3 Hello everyone :) Long story short : I've converted this FC 2 Su-25 campaign to FC 3. :) For those not familiar with this campaign- it was originaly part of FC 2 and, sadly, ED has not converted to FC 3. It is an immersive, fully voiced-over Su-25 campaign that, for me personally, is sitting on the imaginary campaign throne with Black Sharks Deployment. Once again, if this isn't obvious yet. I'm not the author of this campaign, all I've done is the FC3 conversion. Campaign overview On 07/18 between 0100 – 0130 hrs and in contradiction to previously signed agreements, tactical aviation units consisting of F/A-18C strike-fighter aircraft provided by NATO and flying under Georgian operational command conducted an aerial assault against Abkhazian air defense units in the areas of: GALI, OCHMIRA, SASHAMUGIO. At the same time, Georgian conventional and rocket artillery systems were used to destroy Abhazian air force helicopters stationed on forward positions in the vicinity of GALI, as well as checkpoints in the areas of CHUBURHINZHI-TAGILONI-SIDA-PIRVELI-AKVAGA. Campaign details Su25 Campaign 12 missions long RU voice-over with ENG subtitles Changes in FC 3 version My no. 1 goal was - fix what needs to be fixed and change and improve things that were obviously done because of FC 2 engine limitation. Updated all AI units tasks - taking advantage of the new AI tasking where reasonable. Correction of start date for every mission (previously all mission started at june 1st) AI radio chatter is enabled for strike package units (read: not every AI unit, just those working with you in tgt area) Added bullseye - Because Su25 doens't have any way to quickly decode bullseye calls, I placed the bulls at tgt area, so AI calls can easily be decoded by player. Check mission planner for bullseye location. Added few units around airfield to improve scenery Download & Installation From onedrive: Su-25 Version https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjZ7Py7hwgdrhXo6geSaHZg2I4BY Su-25T Version: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjZ7Py7hwgdrhhIXppvGwyHlUUKJ Unpack the archive into your DCS User missions folder (USER_NAMESaved GamesDCSMissions). The campaign should appear under the 'User' tab in Campaign selection menu. :) Enjoy :pilotfly: Feedback/bug reports welcomed :)

I agree that the AI is far far from perfect, but it is improving it with each iteration. I was recently converting some missions from FC 2 and some of them ended up to be much easier just because the AI wingman became more compentet since FC2.

Is it really a fluid simulator? Will increase in fluid speed result in decrease of presure? If I will make a wing-profile solid object and move it throught the fluid, will there by difference in pressure (lift)? What if I reach speed of sound? Will it produce turbulences? Will even these basic principles work? Or, is it just an eye candy, that is using simple physical interaction between thousands of small points to create something that 'just' looks like fluid? Without actually simulating the physical properties of dynamic fluid. Which is great for regular games, where better looking water, or any other fluid is beneficial. But is kinda useless for a sim? :)

You have 32bit os, so you have to use 3GB switch for DCS to work - http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1084420&postcount=8 Another problem is that your CPU and GPU are old and slow, and you'll be lucky to run dcs world even at the lowest setting.
