  1. Yes it's promising. Problem is though people have been waiting for the hubs a long time. Last I heard the ETA was about June 2012. I'll be sticking with Displayport monitors it's more flexible for the future and less issues than using adapters.
  2. That's great about the 4th screen. I might find a small one to put teamspeak on.
  3. King of Eyefinity, Nvidia can't do multi monitor unless you want to take the risky stuttery multi-GPU route. Also the 1.5gb VRAM chokes when I add a second screen. That is why this NVidia fan is considering leaving Nvidia for this card. But so far I've only seen good results for mainstream games, very bad performance reports on x-plane 10, not working on DCS, no word on Rise of Flight yet. The next NVidia is expected to be about 6-9 months away, otherwise I would consider a GTX680 4GB, and use SoftTH.
  4. Its pretty disgusting, cards are with customers and still no decent driver. But what can you do, NVidia can't match this performance or eyefinity features, now AMD are the new kings. I hope they are working weekends to get drivers out..
  5. How long does ATI normally take to produce good drivers after a new card? My trigger finger is still itchy for this card but I want to see positive results for you guys first.. Well we should say thanks for being the guinea pigs :) Do either of you own Rise of Flight and would be able to test if it works too? It's free to play anyway if you haven't http://www.riseofflight.com My two favorite sims, if I see ROF and DCS work on this then I will buy an XFX 7970
  6. Kind of good news that all those other games work, but for DCS to not work... I hope it's not something that AMD will ignore. Because of this I'm hesitant to make the purchase now.. not sure what to do as I need to buy something to plug my second two monitors into and Nvidia only has 2 ports. Maybe I'll wait and see
  7. This doesn't mean there are no bugs in the driver for 64bit mode games. It doesn't matter what the OS or driver is, fact remains most mainstream games are 32 bit executables and DCS is probably not tested by AMD because it doesn't have the 50million kiddie following that other games draw
  8. True about the game starting... But there is still 32 bit paths paths to directx even on 64bit O/S so that 32bit games can run. But I'm still curious about the 32 bit, always a chance that AMD has a bug for 64bit games. It's not like 64bit games grow on trees, the only one they probably stress tested is Crysis 64 and I wouldn't be shocked if they haven't tested any 64bit game.. Although they should have. But don't use up an activation, just if you're testing it anyway on 64, then try both
  9. 64 bit A-10? Did you try 32bit? Maybe AMD drivers do not include 64bit in beta...
  10. Hopefully just a driver issue. In other news I just heard the 8970 is also due out this year - after Nvidia puts its cards on the table lol. Can't wait forever though and this year could mean December...
  11. Sounds dodgy, reviews said the fan quiet... Any other mainstream games work?
  12. Nothing wrong with that power supply those Corsairs provide plenty of amps Does the fan spin up? Do you see it physically spin? Frankly I'm a little concerned for myself as well, been on Nvidia for years and not ever have I needed to use driver sweeper. I use Nvidia beta drivers etc and everything has always worked flawlessly. I can even alt tab in and out of any game. But if AMD can't even manage an uninstalled or a driver updated installer that is a worry.. I wonder when the GTX 680 is due out
  13. Which games do work? Have you tried 32 bit exe for DCS?
  14. I don't know ATI drivers very well... what about the Catalyst drivers? I thought driver versions were like Catalyst 11, or the new one Catalyst 12.1 or 12.2? Maybe try a new driver from the AMD website?
  15. Not good to hear... Which drivers version?
  16. That is so funny! In the time I'm thinking about reading reviews and things I look back here and you have it in your hands lol. Well maybe you don't need to wait until OC models comes, because you could overclock it yourself? Is it the base model? What is ATI like in replacing the heatsink/fan? Is it as easy as a CPU or is it a bitch to mess with? Would you be able to do me a favor and check the eyefinity settings to see if you can enter a resolution of 4960x1600 ie Portrait landscape portrait PLP? Supposedly custom resolutions are allowed now...
  17. Yeah I see that now - 2 mini DP plus HDMI and DVI. So I can get 2 via DP then the left monitor on the DVI. Maybe a 7" LCD on top to display teamspeak on the 4th one, my wife will kill me lol PCCaseGear and UMart are stocking them over $700, but no sign of the OC models yet :(
  18. Don't get impatient :) Default card has only one mini-DP, then DVI and HDMI. Displayport doesn't get any screen tearing apparently. Not sure about HDMI, but at least one of the side screens could potentially have some tearing. Even if you don't get the 6 port 6gb card, the other Sapphire models include one at factory overclock 1335mhz and possibly with a water block. Anyone know much more about eyefinity? If my center monitor has displayport, should I use a mini-DP to DP adapter or go for mini-DP to dual-link DVI? Is there any difference in results?
  19. Thats a shame, but at least the 7970 will be very overclockable. Maybe can just run all on one card. Sapphire is doing a 6GB model with 6 ports. They are also doing a 3GB model factory overclocked to 1335Mhz!!!
  20. I've heard Eyefinity 2.0 will allow PLP (picture landscape portrait) configurations, so I'm watching these cards closely! I have 20" portrait, 30" landscape, 20" portrait, all 1600p so at the same vertical resolution I don't see why not... Been waiting so long though for one of the two competitors to allow it in drivers it feels too good to be true, so I'm waiting to see more reviews with custom multimonitor configs. Does anyone know if DCS can take advantage of Crossfire? Or does DCS only use one card?
  21. When it says unplug at the end, unplug it and close the program it is finished. Would be better if it said that  But anyway it works for me, fixed the joystick not going into corners for me.
  22. Thanks ED! Faster than I thought
  23. Happened to me too, but it was just corrupted. I did the holding buttons trick to load the bulk driver then reloaded firmware. did they get you to try that? Must be warthog day though, my anti friction ring busted in my warthog joystick after a whole Saturdays abuse in the A-10. Was able to open it and repair it temporarily until someone sends me a replacement. But I think it's all worth it, to fly with this gear
  24. Thanks for the missions Dragon. We had some great training today, worked our way up to the ships. Unfortunately when we finally succeeded in destroying them the server crashes, no fault of your own it's probably the latest patch. But I'd love to know if you guys also experience a server crash on killing the ships? We tried both types of ships, GBU-31, or mavericks, always crashes. Logged it anyway: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=1354340#post1354340 Cheers
  25. I'm a defender of the game, not a complainer. When BS2 was released I paid the full $40 and I was the strongest supporter of this pricing model - there were lots of complaints on simhq and I shot them down as much as I could. One of the biggest complaints was about not having DCS aircraft all in the same game as addon aircraft. I'm fine with this and the complexity is understandable. But I'm just saying that it makes sense to keep all games compatible if they are to remain separate titles. Totally works around the above issue. 1 week is not a big deal, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen more than that with 3 or 4 titles in the future
