  1. Awesome, looks easy. I have tried it out. However I decided I didn't like the stick too loose. Aim was not good I kept overshooting and overcorrecting. So I put the big spring back in. One different thing I did though - with the 4 little springs in the default position I put 3 small metal washers underneath each of them to shorten the distance and make the power of that spring stronger. The result: -Centre detent is not as strong because big spring is offset by more force from those 4 springs -Slightly decreased tension, just right for me not too hard not too loose. I also heavily re-greased everything I saw on the inside I'm sure that helps.
  2. I have caved in and added a 15% rudder curve with no deadzone (SIMPED Pedals). Normally I'm deadset against any curves, being a propsim flyer it's important to have an equal movement along the whole axis for good gunnery in A2A, both in stick movement and rudder. A2A I use the entire rudder for aiming max bullets ;) But ground strafing with the cannon in A-10C I've never gone past halfway rudder deflection. So a 15% curve is good. Going past halfway I mainly use for sideslip on landing approach, in this case jerkiness is not an issue as it is countered by opposite roll.
  3. Yep I've tried lots of checklists and even made my own, but these are the only ones I used now as it covers everything I need.
  4. Awesome WIP! That pic Frosti - really can the Eagle carry that much more than the Warthog? Guided as well? Ie 105s
  5. In some applications it's simply a case of copying the code and recompiling. I think for DCS the engine is there already that handles 64bi, my guess is the time consuming thing would be putting ka-50 in the engine and doing all the testing again. Plus new content, new campaign etc.
  6. Also a single little cheap device does a lot of work that saves you from needing so much monitor (Trackir). I do have a 30", but at single 30" is enough for me and also works well for other games/sims that can't handle the triple screen. I've got a 24" below it to display the MFCDs. A single GTX580 1.5gb (only $500) is enough to power that with most settings on high at 60fps. Sandy bridge processor overclocked to 5ghz gives plenty to DCS I suspect as well though. But it's all a fraction of the cost of that beast. Did you see the build thread? Also I don't want to turn down any eye candy for an even bigger res, this is already running at 2560x2600. But the original question was the crossfire/sli.. do you think that guy is actually getting anything from the SLI even if 10% extra per card? Does DCS get a little from SLI but not crossfire?
  7. This guy runs quad-sli with 3x30" monitors: $2800 of Nvidia cards, and $4000 of monitor! He doesn't seem to have a problem but maybe A-10C engine handles it better than blackshark.
  8. You are correct, A-10C has been very nicely optimised I find. Maybe optimised particularly for 64bit or the Sandy Bridge. I also have the same i7-2600k running at 5ghz, and a 2560x2600 resolution (MFDs on monitor below the cockpit screen). That multimonitor res brings blackshark down to 22 FPS, where A-10C still runs at 50-60fps. Amazing performance increase in the new engine! I suspect it could be the 64bit exe. Some said it wouldn't make a difference, but something certainly has because when you push the sim hard with everything on at massive resolution, A-10 performs and Black shark doesn't. Good thing there's going to be a compatibility patch where we get some of the A-10C engine goodness into black shark :)
  9. Yeah we're kind of already tied in with our existing server as it's hosting our Rise of Flight server. Tried the few tweaks but there's no way we can get it to run. Will just have to wait for the dedicated server app I think (whenever it gets released, soon I pray :))
  10. Ok thanks, I'll check that out. We have someone in Japan maybe he can host. They get 50MB upload on consumer connections there! We get max 1.5 in Australia..
  11. ok thanks. What I did was push the handle back in. Then tried an APU restart and also tried the "motor" switch for that engine to clear it up. In the end I got the engine to restart, but once I started adding throttle it cut out again. Phuz - will all those shutoff valves reverse when pushing the handle back in? What mistake do you think I made there?
  12. We have a dedicated server with an ISP that we'd like to host DCS on. However it does not open. I suspect it's due to not having a proper 3D graphics card because it's a server. I know they will be releasing a proper dedicated server app soon, but in the meantime is there any workaround anybody knows of to get this working? Running it from home connection is very limiting due to home bandwidth, yet we have a 100mb backbone server sitting there hardly used only running ROF at the moment. I hope someone knows a trick to get past that, as all we need to tell it to do is host we don't need to load the cockpit and fly from it etc.
  13. I had a funny experience yesterday. I was flying along and my right engine cut off, and I noticed the extinguisher was pulled out for the right engine. I had just moved the mouse curse off the screen so I think I may have clicked the handle by mistake. What I want to know is, what happens when you use the handle? The manual doesn't go into details. I never pushed the extinguish switch so nothing should have been sent to the engine I thought. However the engine had stopped. Does pulling that handle cut off fuel to the engines automatically in preparation for an extinguish? If so, is there a way to get the fuel flow back on again? Cheers
  14. We came on last night about 11pm, I think the server might have been down by then so we hosted one up. If we see you guys in future and want to join, how many clients can a home connection handle? There may be 3-4 of us, so we don't want to flood your server :) I know other games like Rise of Flight I can only host maybe 8-10 clients before the upload has problems.
  15. A-10C is a high flying Hog :) If there's no high alt SAMs then why not clear the danger with GBUs from up high and be untouchable for a while
  16. Ahh yes. I saw this as a problem for people with large resolutions in general, the LOD boxing in Black Shark and FC2. I played alot of FC2 multiplayer with my 30" monitor and because I have a big res I don't want to have to zoom all the time. But if I don't zoom then my Su-25T can see only little bricks until I'm right on top of them and then they become tanks/sams etc. Multiplayer we couldn't do the fix I think because it's based on the server settings. A-10C doesn't seem to have these bricks so it seems better, although I've pretty much got my head down in the TGP most of the time. I can see how it would be much worse with a wide FOV though.
  17. No, I think you'll only get errors if trying in fullscreen mode.
  18. Thanks I'll definitely check that out. Maybe getting full screen could get blackshark performance up there with A-10. But I'm still wondering why A-10 performs soo much better than blackshark in big resolutions? Could it really be 64 bit or is it some other optimisations that ED has done?
  19. For DCS extend works, as long as you use windowed mode for DCS and setup each monitors resolution in the monitor config file in the folder D:\Games\DCS\DCS A-10C\Config\MonitorSetup
  20. Will SoftTH work for a vertical setup like mine? Is it easy to turn on and off? DCS is the only thing I do this for... other sims I just look at TS and maps etc in the second screen.
  21. By using this: http://www.atdec.com.au/content_common/pr-visidec-freestanding-range_visidec-fresstanding-double-vertical-quick-shift.seo Top monitor slightly overlaps the bottom just enough so that I have the exact dimensions correct of the MFDs: This is the monitor setup below, after that just type in the full resolution into the main A-10 settings screen. _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('Camera + Taipan MFCDs'); Description = 'Taipans Setup' Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 2560; height = 1600; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 16 / 10 } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 332; y = 1720; width = 960; height = 960; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 1292; y = 1720; width = 960; height = 960; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center
  22. Here's something to watch when you're away: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxdGGZ4V4Bc&feature=channel_video_title
  23. Thanks great fun mission! Not too easy not too hard. I tried it with NVGs, saw quite a lot of units along the way! I gave them some cannon rounds as I sped past. The Mig wasn't a problem as I was heading back really low as well.
  24. Did you use windows notepad to edit? It can screwup the files sometimes. Try notepad++
