I'm sure a propper demo will be out at soem point. But the beta is not a demo. It's for fixing bugs. Never take a beta as a demo. It's an unfinished game.
-
Not for PC. This is not really a demo. As a Beta, some things are just not working as they will in the full game. The server browser has no searching function for example. But they already sid the server browser was a quick build for the beta, not the one in the retail copy. Plus they change server side stuff a lot. So one day things work great, another it's choppy. But that come's with Beta testing. If you can live with bugs, beta testing can be fun. If not, wait for the retail version.

You may just need to wait a bit. I got mine throuhg Fileplanet. I'm a paid member of the site so we get in on all betas. One of the perks of paing for the service.
-
It's a closed beta, not open. But for the most part no one has had issues getting a key. you do not need to pre-order to get a key. It's just one of the ways.

bet keys can be found here http://badcompany2.ea.com/beta

Unless you go into a building, there is not much corridor fighting. It's all open. And if some one is behind a wall, you can alsways blow it up. RPG, grenade launcher, tank cannon, if it explodes it will rip a building apart. Except hand grenades. The frag evffect wont normally blow out walls. But will destroy softer things like fences. I highly encourage any one that is interested to get in on the beta.

I'm doing the PC Beta. It's really good. Very solid for a Beta too. I have played the 360 version as well. The PC version has better graphics and better controles. But for the most part is the same game. One other thing I noticed is the destruction of enviroments seems more viseral on PC. Things don't disapear as fast. Like wrecked vehicles. The sit and burn for some time. Longer than on consoles at least.

The only thing that is remotly scientificly possible is getting hit by a solar storm, and a big one at that. 2012 is the high point of the sun's sun spot cycle. Last time we where hit was back in the 1800's. Only thing that happened was people as far south as Rome could see aroura's in the sky. In this day it's out tech stuff that can get damaged. If we where hit now it would wipe out a good chunk of the power grid and other heavy electronics could get damaged as well. Also any satilite in the blast would get fried, regardless if powered up or not. Our only deffence to this is the earth magnetic field, and that is getting weeker. There is a "hole" off the coast of South America in the Atlantic. High alt aircraft actually fly around it to avoid damage by solar radiation. It is believed that this is caused by the poles starting to flip. North becomes south, south becomes north magnetically. But this takes a few hundred years to happen and the Earth has been going it since it formed. My guess, nothing will actually happen. If we do get nailed by a solar storm, some bad things will happen but it will not be the end of life as we know it, for the most part. But, for some people, they will be revisiting life like it was 150 years ago. It would take a long time to repair massive damage to the electrical infrustructure and satalite systems. This is a pretty extreme long shot though. But it's the only sceintific evidence of anything possibly happening in 2012. I'm more nervous about astroid 2004 MN4. It's slated to pass in critical range of Earth in 2029. Close enough to be seen with the naked eye. It's 320meeters in size, big enough to level an area the size of Texes, or wipe out every coastling of any ocean it lands in. Now, it's not 2029 that is the year to worry about. It's when it makes it's next pass in 2035. Data is not certian, but what we do know is that passing so close in 2029 will shift the trajectory of the astroid. How much is unclear untill after it passes. But with severl modles run, a few have predicted impact with Earth in 2035. We just do knot know for sure. The near miss could through it fare away instead.

The BC2 beta is still open. You and DL if you have a fileplanet account or pre order the game from STEAM. Either way you are in on the beta for a couple more weeks before it ends. Hardcore mode is the shit! Typical hardcore stuff; no map/radar, no HUD, no enemy markers, more lethal weapons. All good things, IMHO. But there are only 2-3 hardcore servers for the beta. And they tend to be a bit flaky at times.

If you use heavy grade wood, like MDF, you can build one for under $100. It's a stupidly simple desk to make. An acomplished garage worker should be able to make it in a couple hours. Longer if you paint of course.
-
That's it. The beta is a lot cleaner than that vid. Sharper and more detailed textures. What you are seing int he vid is wattered down Xbox360 visuals.

It's a game made by a benchmarking company. Not a game company. Don't expect to much.

wingman commands in my profile ?

You have to set it up as a macro. Then it will press the button the same amount of time you do. So, if each time you hit F1 you hold it down for .1 seconds, it holds for .01 seconds. this also works for the gaps between presses. Just play with it and you will get what I mean. -
Ugly as hell vs beautiful (aircraft photos)

I believe it's somewhere just over Mach 1. I read it some place but for the life of me can not remember where. -
Need help to calibrate saitek joystick.
Prophet4no1 replied to zakobi's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is this for the cybog or the X52? You asked about both in seperat comments. I know the x52 self calibrates. Just move the axis around to all moveable limits if it's acting up. That's all I ever have to do. Not sure on the Cyborg though. -
Some of my clan picked it up, and never played it again. From what I have gathered it's pretty flat and boaring. The zero G novlty wears out fast and in the end you have a mediocer shooter. BF:BC2 on the other hand is kick ass. Been playing the Beta for a couple weeks now. Lots of goodness coming in that one.

It's about 20 pages long. Do all of it the first few times. Some will not be needed but you should learn it all. The diary video on startup is a streamlined version that custs out some system tests.

Yeah, eVGA even helped me figure out what was really going on with my computer when it stopped booting. Even after we figured out it was none of thier hardware that failed, the tech support guy stayed on the phone and helped me find the true cause, firmware failure on the hard drive. Most tech supports people would have left you at the point that their hardware checked out ok. eVGA has me for life.

Go to the Saitek site and get the drivers and any other software for it. It's free to download. www.saitek.com -
This is what I don't get. My mouse has never controled the camra inside the cockpit. Only outside views. When I hooked my trackIR up for the first time I changed no settings. I could instantly look around and click on stuff with no "fighting" from the mouse. I look at a panle, click on the switch. I have no clue what this mod does that the game is not already allowing me to do.

RTFM and training missions. I also printed out the start up procedures, then made a simple mission that starts with the BS cold on the tarmac. Did that many times over before moving on to any other training.

Start on runway.

Only in the profile software. The buttons are always reported by the default button number if no profile is loaded. No matter what mode it is in. Been a really long time since I had my X45. Kinda liked it better than my X52.

Whell there is your problem, BFG sucks. Spend the cash and go eVGA. Rock solid with the best customer support if something goes wrong. I have yet to have and eVGA parts go bad. Knock on wood. Those I klnow that have, hard the replacement part in a couple days, no questiosn asked. Awesome company.

Yeah, my left leg cramps when racing on my cpmuter. I hover over the brake all the time. In my real car my feet dance more since I'm use the clutch. In a front drive car you have to change from heal-toe to left foot braking and back again. Since you move around more you don't cramp. I'm to cheap to spend $300-500 on a good wheel with clutch and stick.
