Now that I think about it, DCS is like a racing sim in the way you need to stay on top of the movement at all times. One laps in thought while racing a Radical will leave you bouncing off course in a hurry. One laps in the BS and you could end up in a pretty hairy situation in the sky. But flight sims for the most part are a little more forgiving than equally hardcore racing sims. I'm not sure how many here do the racing thing as well, so my thoughts may seem strange to most. lol

I still play F4. That's about as complicated as DCS as far as all the avionics are conserned. Add that to hardcore racers. Granted that's a differnt kind of mental stress. Driving in a pack of race cars with the same or even better fidelity to DCS is kinda like dog fighting, as far as the consintration level. Only it's even faster with a much smaller window for error. I actually sweat pretty bad when racing, not so much flying. But I can bounce back and forth from these and to my more standard games with out my head exploding..... so far....

Poko made the drive wheel pedal comment. I have tried this and it really is not a good way to do it. True rudder pedals is the best solution. You get don't get any real feedback as to what your rudder position is with racing pedals since both move indamendant of each other. Not togethor like rudder pedals.

Yeah, it's totally random. I love that vid. It's proabably the best BF2 vid ever.

I replied to your PM, but for any one else. I just move the stick in a cirlce at it's outer most point, like you would do calibrating. I do this for any axis ackting up. It happens from time to time. Not sure why.

If modled correctly and flown correctly, It should not be an issue. If you stay on the deck, you are masked by it to air radar. And if they are really high, they are even less likely to see you on radar. There is a bit of a blind sport for a radar under the nose. It caries on settings and aircraft type, but for the most part, very few choppers will get shot by a fighter. The A-10 is a differnt story since it plays in the dirt also. In fact I think there was one recorded a/a kill in the first gulf war where an A-10 pilot gunned a chopper down. I think it was a Hind.

Oldy but a goodie!

Awesome!! Coolest toy ever!

I found on mine if it's not reading right, just move all axises to their extreme points and it works fine after that.

I find rockets pretty useless on infantry since they give anti armor rockets. I will fire every rocket off and get maybe one or two kills with them. The cannon on the other hand can lay waist to the area with ease.No need to lock on. Just laser range a nearby area and slew the shkval and keep fireing. A couple passes like that and you are done.
-
Well, I can tell you this much. Most of the enemies are in the trees. All infantry. Once I figured that out, I just waited for them to appear and sprayed the trees and aotund wom of the buildings with HE cannon rounds. That pretty much took care of things. My wingman was useless. For some reason wingmen wont attack infantry. At least I can not get them to.

I hind the twisty a lot easier and more accurat than using racing pedals.

Yeah, sorry, second combat mission. The fly around one is kinda forgetable. -
How Many Dual Core Users ??

A P4 at that speed is actually not all that fast. -
Disable the "Fly-By-Poltergeist" option

I keep mine off. Makes it easier to get to some of the buttons and switches. -
People with WAY to much money. I would not pay $50 for that, let alone $104million!
-
Not bad, but $300 is a bit steep for a desk you can build in a couple hours for maybe $50-100 with parts from Home Depot.

Personally, not a fan of ATI cards. Even less so mixed with Intel CPU. They work much better with AMD since they are the same company. I've owned both and currently run an intel/nvidia setup. I find it more stable and I like the nvidia control panel better than catalyst.

Has any one read any thing deffinitive about it yet? I'm hearing rumors that it's not that hot, but no official reviews or hands on from owners.

Normally I'm pretty good at it, in the real world. Play a lot of senario paintball. Commo is just as important as the marker you are shooting. Also do really well in shooters. But, in this game it's hard for me. Not sure why, but I refuse to turn lables on.

I have at native res, but I can not see most things till almost on top of them. They just blend in.

In that case, make sure you get an x58 board. eVGA has a fw options going that route. If you want a custom rig, one of the members of my gaming clan owns a custom PC buisness and uses eVGA and hand builds water systems. No premade kits. I can get you in touch with him and you can discuss details and budgets from there.

How can you see choppers with eyeballs? I have to sweep the area with the Shkval to find them. Otherwise they get to close and shoot a missle in my face.
