also, in other reports of missiles firing randomly, the cause has been USB issues. Some have had issues with usb hubs, bad ports etc.

also, the volume knob on the alr-67 is nonfunctional. But, there is a volume knob that is functional for the hornet rwr. it is on the back left panel.

there is a bug where loosing lock on a target in TWS-Auto sometimes breaks the radar elevation. While we wait for them to fix it, one workaround is as follows. 1. select a missile, (say AIM-120) 2. TDC Depress on a blank area to begin a rapid search 3. Select a different missile while the rapid search is going on. (aim-9 for this example) after the search ends, you should have elevation control again. (this can also fix the bug where the radar gets locked into a guns scan pattern)

1. for flight height of harpoons and slams. low is 5000ft, med is 15000ft and high is 25000ft. You should be releasing them from above the height that you select. ie. don't release below 15000ft if it is set to medium. At times I have observed that releasing them lower than their programmed height will cause them to attempt a climb to that height and they will stall out. Flight height is the altitude the missile will fly while cruising to its intended search area and while searching. Only after it has a valid target will it attempt to skim the water 2. the seeker setting tells the missile at what distance from the selected target to turn on its seeker. Unfortunately, this does not prevent it from seeking an unintended target once it activates. It is also possible currently for the missile to be to high when the seeker turns on to see the intended target and to continue flying past it either until it detonates or into an unintended target. per the hornet manual for DCS, seeker modes are as follows • SML. 10,000 meters before target location • MED. 20,000 meters before target location • LRG. 30,000 meters before target location so 10km (5.4nm), 20km(10.8nm), and 30km(16.2nm) Once that seeker turns on. It will go after the first ship it sees. 3. Dead ships still exist. Telling the harpoon to go after a target location is only telling it to go to it and start looking. The missile doesn't have any way of knowing that the ship it sees is already dead and sinking. a ship is a ship in its seeker. Harpoons are not designed as precision strike weapons. They were not intended for picking out a target within a group of non targets. For that I would suggest the Walleye, Slam, or laser guided munitions.

Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
tech_op2000 replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Congrats Rooster. @Fri13 The forums wont let you upload a track file if it is too big. But you can upload it to a cloud service like google drive and give us a link to download it. If you know a previous mission where it happened. Upload one or more of those. They should all still be in your DCS track files folder assuming you haven't deleted them. Bonus points if you also tell us a timestamp for about when the pitch occurs. -
Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
tech_op2000 replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Great. Now Turn on the controls indicator and see if it is an input into the jet problem or a problem with the system. @rooster7755 It would probably be good for you to start your own thread for this issue. and providing a track file is always helpful -
so it isn't just me who is having my tanker on a circle pattern fly in circles magically with no bank or rudder?

Sudden pitch down - effect from the auto trim?
tech_op2000 replied to Fri13's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Most of the cases of sudden pitch up, if right after takeoff are likely due to takeoffs with flaps in auto instead of half. Have you checked through all your control bindings to make sure you don't have pitch double bound. If using a HOTAS, it may be wise to unbind the keyboard bindings for pitch/roll etc as well. (I use the arrow keys for SRS instead) The best thing you could do after that is try to make the bug repeatable every time with the exact same steps. Then double check that doing those steps isn't causing an input on your pitch. Turn on controls indicator. "Show Controls Indicator" RCTRL + Enter by default. -
Problem "lighting the cans"
tech_op2000 replied to Vol4Ever's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
To further clarify your options. If you enable Afterburner Detent Always on in Special settings. You will then have to bind a key somewhere to allow you to go into afterburner. This will mean moving your throttle past the mil power setting without the proper key bind cycled or held (see below) the throttle will not move into afterburner. There are two options here: 1- Cycle Afterburner Detent -On/Off - This will mean each press of that key will toggle the finger lifts. Press once. You can now always go into afterburner. Press again, you can never go into afterburner. Press again, You can now always go into afterburner again. 2- Throttle Finger Lift (Both) Up/DOWN. - With this option. You can Enter afterburner only when you are Currently Holding down the key. If you release the key, it will stay in afterburner until you move the throttle back below the Mil Power Stops then it wont go back into afterburner again unless you again HOLD the button down. (This is my preferred option) (The above two options require the special setting to be always on. And inversely, the afterburner always on setting requires you to bind one or the other of those key binds. These would be the desired option if you don't have physical detents or don't want to use them. ) -The next option you can do with the Warthog is to open up the little panel between the top of the throttles and flip the afterburner detent. This will add a mechanical click to your throttles. In this situation you would likely opt to have the Afterburner detent special setting set to "always off". You then would need to adjust the throttle axis in your keybinds so that throttle position for the physical detent in your throttle matches the software throttle axis curve at full mil power. here is a good video on the software setting procedure. -
i was about to say. it probably is an input binding problem. may have to reset to default keyboard bindings

Update 2.5.6.60645 removed the visual count of Chaff and Flares on the bottom left of SA page when in Bypass mode. Was this intentional?

Here is another trk file where the bit test had leading edge flap get stuck. Happens at the very end of the track. Landed. Shut Down. Restart. BIT test. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f2v0tkUu6RNEJRls--NTHmax5yvxRH-N/view?usp=sharing

reported Radar Scan Elevation locked in RWS after using TWS
tech_op2000 replied to RED's topic in Bugs and Problems
DCS 2.5.6.60645 Similar issue. Locked a target with A/A Radar. Used TWS Auto Mode. Lost lock at some point in turn. No longer could use radar elevation in A/A Radar modes. Still had radar tilt function in surface modes. Unable to upload Track file as it is 57.9 MB. Track: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1f2v0tkUu6RNEJRls--NTHmax5yvxRH-N/view?usp=sharing Bug encountered shortly after locking C-130 Unsure how well this will sync up but I used TacView to get a time for the bug. Mission time shows 2011-06-01 at about 11:31:00 to 11:35:00 for when the bug first appeared Additionally at the end of that track file, I tried the FCS BIT test to see if that bug was still around. But I'll make another post for that. -
It would be awesome if the KC-135 MPRS could refuel people using the basket OR the boom. could help us not have so many tankers flying around in large multiplayer missions.
-
Please add an option to make AI tanker Aircraft have unlimited fuel. We have a mission where the kc-130's keep running out of gas. Also, Players can command them to fly to a different location which destroys their ability to be a tanker. Please Please Please! On a side note, it would be fabulous if we COULD command a tanker to fly somewhere then begin a refueling order!!!!!

+1. Cycle detent may be nice for some, But I much prefer Momentary Detent. Hold the button to go past it. Not holding it? It doesn't go past. Please ED, add this keybind for us!

I was just about to upload a video of how annoying it is. adding a very small deadzone to my tdc slew axis' fixed it. apparently it was creating enough of an input to trip the system up even though it wasn't enough to actually move the cursor.
-
i have three different buttons bound for tdc depress for testing. one is the stick i use to slew it pressed in. another is a different button on the stick and the 3rd is enter on the keyboard. with any of them, it will just flash an underline for less than a second after i release tdc depress. i can hold it for 1 second or 1 minute or anywhere in between and it will still just flash the underline. after about 5 minutes of spamming the button in every conceivable pattern the underline eventually stays for a few seconds then the page disappears and i can actually enter the grid.
-
I too had this issue. I've tried holding it for up to 10 seconds. pressing it multiple times. sometimes it would work, many times it wouldn't. In my last attempt I could only get it to stay underlined using enter on they keyboard, and it was still unreliable then. I could not get it to stay underlined at all using my hotas.

I have a logitech x-56. I use a knob for zoom in and out. Unfortunately the pot for the x56 is not perfect and has very small deviations when sitting in certain positions. Because the zoom level in DCS matches this perfectly it causes my zoom to bounce in and out rapidly. This could be fixed by adding a setting for something like "buffer" or "lag" which would only allow the output to change if the input has changed a certain percentage.

I'm starting a new thread for this since the old one was marked as correct as is with no explanation months ago and no response from ED. Many of us have a problem when we don't have the perfect HOTAS that causes the Air to ground radar slewing to become impossible or difficult. Disabling realistic TDC slew seems like the option that should help us with this problem. Here is the original thread for anyone who wants some light reading: https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/digital-combat-simulator/dcs-f-a-18c-hornet/controller-questions-and-bugs-aa/286127-correct-as-is-exp-trapezoid-not-slewing-realistic-tdc-unchecked For me, I do not use a joystick hat or axis for TDC that has a depress function. In order to slew the cursor on the air to ground radar. I have to take my hand off my throttle and hold my tdc depress button on my stick why i use the tdc slew on the stick. It would be nice if ED could add some functionality for different setups. Suggestion: with realistic TDC Slew off. On air to ground radar EXP modes. TDC depress once to activate cursor. slew as desired. TDC depress again to release. That would give many of us a much needed quality of life improvement for the EXP modes.

The controls do not appear to have the HMCS Power switch as a configurable control. Cant find it anywhere.

Universal Laser Code Implementation
tech_op2000 replied to tech_op2000's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I think it is because in a multi location Mission. You don't have the freedom to engage targets with multiple jtacs without either you changing codes inflight or the jtac changing codes to match your stores. I would not be opposed to having a mission preset to allow or deny inflight code changing. I could see how allowing players to tell the JTAC what code to lase could be very useful for pilots or could be hell for multiplayer servers. In any case, standardizing it across modules would be a step in the right direction -
Fire Bottle Discharge (FIRE EXTING DISCH) switch on glare shield should be reversed. Left click should move the switch left. Right click should move the switch right.
