fixed 2.8.1 still has serious issues with terrain objects shadows

Hey folks, I'm not sure if my problem is related to this or not but I also noticed significant FPS drops. One of the most notable is 3D grass which I never had any problems with at all. Always had the slider up to max and enjoyed a totally stutter free experience. Now with the slider even set to 30% there's a significant loss in fps and stutters (when the grass is in close proximity). I tried turning down the shadows from medium to low and secondary shadows off but it seems to have had no effect. Really quite upset with this now Also I'm definitely getting loss in performance over dense areas such as Incerlik, where again I had absolutely no issues with the same settings before! Really hoping this gets resolved soon! -
Hi Folks, Is it just me or has DCS had some sort of obvious performance hit since an update or two ago? In situations where I used to get silky smooth frames I now have very obvious fps loss and stutters. In my particular case I've really noticed it when flying low with 3D grass which never used to be an issue for me. And also over dense forests or big cities such as Incerlik. I haven't changed any of my settings. I can't pin point exactly when this started happening but my guess would be roughly when the moving clouds update came out. I could be wrong. All I know is 2-3 months ago I had no issues. Anyone else experienced anything similar? Cheers! P.S Running latest OB

Thanks all. Had the Skytruck already though it's kind of unique. Shame nobody ever made a whole pack with C172s and PA28s and similar stuff. Thanks though. Downloaded the civil aircraft mod for the C210

Hi all, I'm in desperate need of some light aircraft (Cessnas, Pipers ect) to populate a GA airfield. Can't seem to find any mods that contain light GA aircraft? Even just as static objects? If anyone is aware of such a mod I would be very much obliged! Thank you!

In the 2023 and beyond video, anyone hazard a guess what the "Easter egg" at 4:36 is? I'm assuming there's more to it than just some sort of random CRT screen text. Doesn't seem to be related to the Chinook?

Hi folks, Could someone tell me, if a 2-ship flight departs the carrier simultaneously, with 1 aircraft departing off the left side (with a clearing turn to the left) and the other off the right side (with a clearing turn to the right), at what point will this flight join up? After 7nm? Many Thanks!

Hey folks, I need to have a 2-ship AI F-18 flight to deploy all their TALDS (12 each). I get the lead to deploy his but the wingman will not... why? I've got them to do "bombing" with Decoys. Rel Qty : ALL/ Altitude above 26,000ft. Like I say, lead deploys his no problem... but why doesn't the wingman?? Many Thanks!

Objects do not cast shadows on deck at night

Ah thanks! And it also turns out that you must have shadows set to at least "medium" or higher too. -
Hey folks, sorry if this has been answered before. I'm a bit bewildered - looking at ED's own Supercarrier video from 6 months ago (linked below) you can clearly see that objects on the deck at night cast shadows from the lights on the bridge. This does not happen for me (running open beta 2.8). The only shadows are as a result of moonlight so most of the time it just looks ridiculous at night with no shadows on the unlit side of objects. I tried setting shadow settings to max but it had no effect. Is this the case for everyone still?

Main question I have is - will it be possible to have different weather conditions in different parts of the map, or is it just the general theme that will change slightly depending on the wind etc over the entirety of the map? What we really need is the ability to have totally different weather conditions in different parts of the map, and have them change. And most importantly (which is driving lots of us insane I'm sure) to have different winds in different parts of the map. I should not be punished for having 30kts of wind i nthe middle of the desert just because I want to have 30kts in the middle of the sea for my carrier...

Hi all, For the last little which I seem to have no sound for AI aircraft, ground controllers, ground crew etc... I see the text displaying at the top left of the screen for whatever com message is playing at the time but I have no sound for any of them. Any ideas? Cheers!

Hi all, sorry wasn't sure where to put this topic. I'm trying to create an accurate mission for F-5 Aggressors operating in the late 80s/ early 90s and I'm wondering if someone here knows the entry into service year for the AN/ASQ-T50 pod and AIM-9M that we have in DCS? I just need to know if the Aggressors flew with those already in the late 80s/ early 90s? Many Thanks!

What I find rather peculiar lately about maps is not so much the locations but the absolute god awful texture resolutions in the screenshots we get. Maybe not so much the Sinai map, but Falklands, Koala and now this Australian one all have Microsoft Simulator 1998 level of texture resolution. I totally understand that these are WIP, but I don't get why you would tease or preview a map with screenshots that make you think DCS map tech is going back in time. I find it absolutely incredible that in this day and age we are getting this quality. Obviously we have some decent maps in DCS but these last ones seems like a real step back in quality. Before anyone starts debating that it's because in real life these places are barren and have no real features, please don't. As we know from some other sims, barren landscapes can look absolutely sensational at low level even without lots of cities or even trees (and btw, I think trees and forests in DCS need a serious overhaul). Sorry about the rant but I'm just dubious how I'm the only one who is concerned about this?
