Yeah I switched terrain textures to low and it more or less fixed my issues except over dense cities like Beirut. Not the end of the world but would definitely like to see better optimization.
-
Reducing pre-load radius definitely helped! Now it's mostly just around airfields where it seems like there's a lack of smoothness. At least flying around now is smooth. Thanks for that! Still definitely feels like it needs optimizing. There's low fps in places where you just don't think there should be.

The problem is you're asking for a big drop in quality to run something that should already run well on a really good rig. That's my problem. And it's clearly not just because it's a "good quality map" - there is no reason for why my fps needs to be so low on a desert airfield. It's clearly pointing to poor optimization?? I also noticed that changing the tree draw distance has no effect, at least while parked on the ground. Changing shadows to flat is not really a fair compromise. It just makes everything looks so much worse. I'm also not keen on decreasing anti-aliasing. I also find it strange that periodically it starts to work really silky smooth even though the complexity of the scenery is just as much as it was... then goes back to being slow and choppy again... there's clearly some sort of issue here that is not just due to the "detail".

That's not really a valid solution is it. A similar answer would be - buy a NASA super computer to run the Syria map...

Hey folks, I pre-purchased this map ages ago so was super excited. Just ran it for the first time and is it just me or does it run just awful? I've not had any such issues on other maps but the choppy fps on this one are just terrible. Only if you're up high does it start to run smoothly. And occasionally even low down it's smooth but majority of time it's just bad. Even starting on more desert'y airfields where you wouldn't expect any major fps hit it still feels a bit lggy or stuttery Old maps still work no problem. Hmmm... AMD Ryzen 9 3950X GTX 2080 Super 64GB RAM 4200MHz evo 970 2TB SSD Like I say - no issues with other maps but this one is unplayable using same settings as I use elsewhere. Anybody else with a similar issue?

Disregard! Turns out I had to offset the threats as 2 overlapped and made it seem like a 9. Whoops.

Hey folks, I've been trying to find a comprehensive list of RWR codes but can't seem to find one that shows "9". What is "9"? Ground emitter.

Any Good F/A-18 Supercarrier Missions out there?
CommandT replied to CommandT's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Thanks for the suggestions all! I see ED are advertising "The Serpent's Head 2" - is that one any good? -
Hey guys, Has anyone created any cool F/A-18 missions for the Supercarrier yet? I see ED has included literally no combat missions whatsoever with the Supercarrier  I'm still trying to figure out where to find the best mission content so advice is welcome! I didn't realise quite how little combat mission content comes with the F/A-18 module :helpsmilie:

TrackIR 5 - jitters (Tried everything...)
CommandT replied to CommandT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This seems to have improved things! Thanks dude  -
Hey folks, So I've had trackir installed for a few months and I can't seem to get of very small jitters especially as I get further off centre. I've played around with max smoothness slider and speed slider and basically everything. In youtube videos (for example Wags) I see you can point your head in a certain direction and the camera holds perfectly still. In my case even if I hold my head perfectly still I get these tiny micro jitters. I'm using the trackclip pro attached to my headset. I've checked everything - dust on LEDs, other light sources, played around with the position of the camera, monitor, distance from monitor, speed of the curves, different curves in settings etc etc. I've run out of ideas. I don't get how other people have such steady camera position in the game when they turn their head and hold it steady. The way I have it is bearable and I can fly - there's no issues when it's on centre either. But it would be nice to get it to be just as steady as steady as what other people have. Anyone experienced anything similar? Cheers!

Hey guys, I see if I choose a flight of 2 planes, for some reason I cannot choose to be the player of the second plane? How do I make a flight and take a position as the wingman and not lead in the editor? Cheers!

+1 here. Superclouds module coming to a DCS store near you... :megalol:

F/A-18 as much as I want to love it has some serious flight model deficiencies, and it's very frustrating that devs are focusing on new weapons and functionality before finishing the flight model. Having said that, for a casual user to just go and drop some bombs the flight model won't be a limiting factor.

Any info on when they are planning on implementing this? The current one is really lacking.

Is it just me or have the runway markings and yellow taxi lines completely dissapeared at Laughlin airport on NTTR? I could have sworn they were there before? When you look using satellite view in the editor they appear on the runways and taxiways as normal but when you load up the game it's just empty tarmac?

Hey guys, If I make a mission in the editor, how can I save it so it appears under "Quick Action" or "Missions" tabs on the main screen UI? I've tried to save the mission I've created in the same folder where you find "Quick Action" or "Missions" missions but the editor will not let me save the mission in that loction. Just comes up with an error..
