  1. With flaps obviously. That's not the point though. The plane does demos with flaps up takeoffs. Even if it was not a real life procedure, it shouldn't result in an unstoppable nose up motion on takeoff. Also, the real aircraft does knife edge at airshow. The DCS Hornet at any speed will not have enough rudder authority to do this. It's not so much a bug as a flaw of the flight dynamics models, that again, should be fixed before any new weapons.
  2. Got it! Many thanks!
  3. Hey folks, how does one enable the ability to turn on labels for the participants in your server? I can't see an option for it when setting up the server. Tried to "LSHIFT + F10" when we were flying around and no labels would appear. Suggestions?
  4. Anyone got any numbers on best turn rate speeds for F-15, F-16, F-5, F/A-18, Su-27, MiG-29? Would be good to know for dogfighting in DCS. I posted this topic in the main DCS 2.5 section and for some reason it got deleted? I'm a bit confused as to why?
  5. Yeah, the winwing one looks pretty serious, been watching some reviews. Pretty expensive, would like to know a bit more about the actual material of the throttle handles.
  6. Tbh I don't care about the nose wheel steering disengage all that much, I can press "A" on the keyboard for that during the pre-flight check. But what I do care about is over-riding the G-limiter... grrrr. randomTOTEN, yep, kept the paddle pulled (pressed) for a while - no effect. I'll try to map it to another function to see if it works.
  7. Hey folks, So I've been using my TM Warhog HOTAS for a while. Absolutely love the stick and absolutely hate the throttles. The stick is like the real thing, the throttles are like a Chinese knock off plastic crap. Honestly can't believe they even came in the same package. Firstly, is it fine to mix and match stick and throttles? I assume I can keep using my stick with another set of throttles? Anyone have any suggestions for what are the best throttles one can buy? Something that would feel solid and not awful and flimsy like the TM ones?
  8. Ah I see. That should hopefully bring the price of the base 3080 down then!
  9. Yep, pinky switch works perfectly for NWS HI (unrelated to the paddle switch below it) So I am really super lost now. I have now tried to un-assign and then re-assign the paddle switch to AP Disengage/NWS disengage command, and I can map it no problem in the controls. I mean when I press it - it immediately recognises what I have pressed and assigns it to this function. But when I actually fly it does nothing. I have the same function bound to "A" on the keyboard by default and that works as it should... I'm so confused. I mean physically the paddle swtich doesn't seem broken - otherwise how would the sim be able to recognise and map it under my controls? It used to work perfectly before, and I never changed anything in the controls for this lately but then after a little while not flying the F-18 I came back to it and it just doesn't want to work any more. So strange...
  10. Good advice, thank you. Might be good to see what the verdict is among the VR community with the 3080 and the Reverb G2 once both start be a bit more common. I didn't realise the memory size for the 3080 can vary! Or do you mean the 3080ti will be out in December?
  11. That's so strange. I mean when i pull it (using TM Warthog) it regonises it immediately in the control menu... yet it clearly doesn't work in the game. I'll see if I can re-bind it.
  12. Hey folks, has anyone moved from a 2080 Super to a 2080ti or a 3080? My system specs: Ryzen 9 3950X RTX 2080 Super 64GB RAM Samsung EVO 970 2TB SSD I use a 38" 4k monitor with trackir but I'm thinking of getting the new Reverb G2 VR headset. Even without VR using my current DCS settings below (which I am not willing to lower much further) I can't really use the Syria map over populated areas or airfields without deal-breaking fps losses. Would I see a noticeable increase in performance with a 2080ti or a 3080? Especially wondering for 4k VR... I'm not really a computer guy so sometimes watching these benchmarks and whatnot doesn't tell me much. Cheers!
  13. Hey guys, Is it just me or does the paddle shift on the stick no longer disengage nose wheel steering?? Was working fine before but recently noticed it doesn't do anything, and I see it's still mapped correctly under controls menu so I really don't get what the issue is... Just noticed the paddle switch wont let me go beyond the g-limit set at the time either. I mean like it's not working at all yet it's definitely mapped correctly under controls and used to work fine but now it has no effect...
  14. I 100% appreciate that EA means you don't get the full thing out of the box. That's fine. What's concerning is that absolutely basic bugs related to flying the plane have not been addressed in favour of weapons and systems updates. This creates the impression that these basic FM issues will actually never get looked at because using any normal logic, basic FM bugs (which are SUPER obvious) should eradicated well before adding new complex systems that actually take time and effort. Just for clarity, I'm not having a rant at you or the team. I've invested lots of my money in your products and will support you all the way. I'm just extremely frustrated that basic stuff isn't fixed before new features.
  15. I would strongly agree with the OP. There's some absolutely deal-breaker basic FM bugs from day of release and yet we keep getting new weapons, pods or whatever before some of this super basic stuff gets fixed. It's extremely annoying. The one I absolutely despise is the nose wobble side-to-side. Any hard reversal of aileron controls from one side to the other causes the nose to yaw side-to-side. This is clearly a critical issue related to flying the aircraft. Why are we getting new weapons and systems before something super basic like this to actually fly the plane gets fixed? It's so frustrating because it really ruins the immersion of actually flying the plane. And it's been reported many times before. Nothing has been done. And it's not exactly a hard fix. The one as the OP mentioned about takeoff with no flaps causing an un-commanded pitch up till infinity is also extremely frustrating. It basically means yo can rule out doing an airshow display takeoff in the Hornet completely. Again an absolutely basic fundamental FM issue that would not be hard to fix at all. The reason it's so frustrating is that these little things are really all that separates this from being an incredible piece of simulation from being a really frustrating experience at times. And some of them have been reported millions of times. ED is still focused on updating weapons and systems instead of getting a few critical FM bugs fixed. Real shame.
  16. Am I right in saying there is still no way to assign your parking starting position on the deck for a SP mission in the mission editor? I always spawn in a stupid place I think closer to the middle of the deck.
  17. Ah thanks for the explanation all. That's interesting! Explains that a lot now!
  18. Ah!! Doh!! You learn something new everyday! Thank for that! Also , unrelated question but perhaps you might know - quite often when going into afterburner I get a master caution light up - is that normal? I don't see any warning lights illuminated.
  19. I meant I can't turn on the radio altimeter, It just wont show radio altitude. Just has a "B" flashing next to the window, as if to tell me it's baro. And regarding alignment, thanks!
  20. Hey guys, I don't know if I'm being a retard but I did my own cold start mission on a carrier and after putting the toggle switch to RAD ALT all I saw on the hud was flashing "B" next to my altitude box. Toggled the switch a few times - no result. Is this a bug? Also, when doing a carrier alignment, what is the correct way of doing it? CV to NAV or CV to IFA? Cheers!
  21. Anyone got any opinions on the Vavle Index? A friend of mine who is much more clued up on this stuff reckons it's the best option due to FOV and head-tracking which is considerably more precise than the HP Reverb. Tbh it's still a tough decision for me here. I mean I really need both - high res (little screen effect)/ good image quality and something that will run smooth enough to think it's real life. As soon as I have fps drops swiveling my head left and right in a dogfight, that will totally defeat the purpose of having VR in the first place. And if you can't read gauges without leaning in close to them or can't see aircraft and need labels on then that I'm sorry to say is just going to kill the experience for me. This new G2 does look like it will probably not have this issue though so it's just a question of whether the head tracking is good enough and if I can run DCS at least with low shadows and high textures and still get a smooth image... hmmm...
  22. Looking at this video here it looks like the G2 is night and day compared to all prior headsets? I'm almost thinking I might just get that brand new instead when it comes out. Hmmm...
  23. Interesting. I see! Thanks
  24. I'm just looking at reviews online. So am I right in saying it's really a choice between the HP Reverb and Oculus Rift S? People seem to be impressed with the sharpness of the image with the Reverb. Also just out of curiosity. You know how with track ir you quite often have to reset your default/ neutral head position as it sort of looses it's original centre point after a whole bunch of twisting and turning - is that the same with VR headsets or they stay oriented in space relative to the neutral point constantly without having to hit a button to re-center?
  25. Yep, cheers, I'll definitely have a look. Are we expecting yet another performance hit with the G2 since it will be higher res I assume?
