Awesome! Cheers

How did you get a Greyhound on the deck??? There's no Greyhound in DCS??
-
Is there any plans to optimize the carrier itself? I noticed that if I am inside the cockpit on the deck and look towards the bridge my fps is locked in at 30 but with sme stutters so not a smooth 30. And it doesn't matter if I add 6 planes in front of the bridge... still 30. So clearly ther bridge is not as well optimized?
-
The only way I can figure out how to change the spawn location is by putting a static aircraft on your normal spawn location and keep adding planes on every new location until you are happy where you spawn, except by that point you've added about a billion extra polygons and dropped your fps down to 18...

Guys, is there a way to change the spawn point of your plane on the deck in SP? I'm just messing around with my own SC config in the editor and I'd like to specify exactly where on the deck I want to spawn... unlike an airfield you can't choose a particular stand. And solution to this 1st World problem?

I wish that was higher res, hard to make out the numbers on the hud. Would be interested to see how the numbers work out for him to make it.

So I'm sure like many of you I've done about a billion Case 1 recoveries in DCS... 800ft on the BRC at 350kts, break before 1nm from the carrier TACAN, get down to 600ft downwind, configured etc etc. So now, here is a Super Hornet coming in, breaking BEFORE reaching the ship and keeping 1 continious turn to line up for a perfect recovery. In the desciption is says 500ft and 480kts... I mean REALLY? REALLY? I need speedbrake at 0.5nm past the carrier to be able to configure and slow down in time before dropping gear and flaps so I can be at 600ft before starting the turn. But this guy... holy crap - flying god right here... can you even start the circuit at 500ft? Did he disable the comments so that all DCS pilots don't start giving out to him :lol::lol:

Hey guys I don't know if the followig are bugs or not but I noticed a few things: 1) If you try to do a "demo style" takeoff like what the second solo pilot of the Blue Angels does with flaps UP and pull back sharply for the plane to rotate off the ground with high alpha - in DCS if you do so the trim gets totally messed up - the plane will then keep wanting to trim nose up constantly and no amount of nose-down trim will make it fix this issue until you lower the flaps and/or gear - I am not sure which exactly. I find it strange and maybe there's a trick to "resetting" the trim system? To me it feels odd 2) Sometimes after a fast sharp roll at high-ish speed the plane starts to oscillate the nose left and right and you see the rudders try to fix the stability but the movement of the rudders seems out of phase so it seems like it's actually making the problem worse. I can't really discribe exactly when this happens. It happens sometimes and I'm like... errr, well I doubt the real plane does that... could be wrong of course but again, seems odd 3) This might not be a bug - can the real Hornet fly knife edge? Because the DCS Hornet does not have enough rudder authority at any speed to fly straight and level at knife edge (90 deg bank). 4) This one I am sure is a bug - If you keep pulling back at low speed and add enough thrust to eventually get full burner on a clean aeroplane you can get it to a point of where it is almost hanging in the air - moving very slowely - maybe 20kts or so (not sure exactly) and let go of the controls, leave it in full burner and it will fly itself straight and level for an eternity at like 75 deg of alpha and 20kts. Looks quite funny actually. I mean this is way beyond max alpha. I don't mean like an 80-90kts high alpha pass where it feels like it actually obeys the laws of physics. -------------------- Otherwise I love the flight model of the Hornet. It may be the most real feeling of all the aircraft I've tried in the sim. So hats off to ED. I'm just pointing out a few minor things that cought my attention.
-
Whilst I fully disagree with the tone and personally do respect ED 100%, I think there is a very obvious point from this post that should have been addressed a long time ago and is definitely more relevant now than ever. Instead of focusing on new eye candy and new modules left, right and center, ED should seriously focus all of it's attention on optimization and Vulcan API implementation. I am utterly shocked that this is not a priority. It's all fair and square saying there's no competition but that doesn't mean you need to make your community suffer because you know they essentially can't go anywhere else. The new Supercarrier module that I've been waiting an eternity for has really demonstrated how far behind the game engine is relative to the amount of detail it is currently asked to process using a single core. Can you imagine if DCS was optimized and ran like War Thunder? And the reality is there's guys with PC's that cost a few thousand $ that are struggling to get 30fps on the Supercarrier and other places where polygons are an issue. Running missions also seems to take a massive hit on CPU threads and people need to work around these issues by having a dedicated server run on their PC to utilise another core for a SP mission using MP. All I'm saying is, I love this sim and will not be going anywhere, but it's pushing me to get the most expensive hardware on the market and even after that I know I'll be in situations where I will tear my hair out and ask why I can't run it with dynamic shadows or using x4 MSAA or whatever... it's definitely frustrating, especially as we know that if ED put all their efforts towards this issue, we could literally double the frame rates for most people like what folk using XPlane saw with Vulcan :( Nonethless I thank ED for their development of the sim and hope one day my prayers will be answered.

Which CPU and Motherboard to run DCS really well?
CommandT replied to CommandT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'd consider whatever is better for DCS but it seems like most people running high settings are on the intel CPUs? Everywhere I see high def DCS videos it always seems to be from folk on a 9900K that's overclocked. -
I see. Cheers. So I see there's no visual or performance enhancements in the patch notes ?:( So reall yit's just the supercarier that will be the icing on the cake, and the cake itself haha
-
But why is my game not booting to this new build?
-
Where? I don't have anything. Am I supposed to manually update the game somehow? I don't see no Supercarrier module...
-
I see, ok, looking forward!!
-
Yep, well I'm definitely more interested in surviving whilst scoring a kill than going in full guns blazing haha! My biggest confusion lies in how to re-engage really. I know some basic tactics of using energy to evade missiles and being able to get your own shot off but I can't seem to find much material yet on how to re-engage the fight once you've turned your back to escape enemy missiles.

Cheers for the advice - still learning! :music_whistling:

solved Why is my FPS Capped at 60? Also low FPS in missions :(
CommandT replied to CommandT's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Cheers guys, yeah makes sense. 60fps is absolutely perfect anyway so long as there's no big drops. So I'm happy with the monitor for sure. I just need a better CPU/ mobo I think. Current system has limited bandwith. -
Which CPU and Motherboard to run DCS really well?

So because I'm a total nood when it comes to this, just to make sure I understand correctly - all you do it start up your own mission in MP and that's it in order to utilise another core? Or is it more complex than that? Sorry for the dumb questions! Thanks for the suggestion though, very intreagued. -

Yes, you are right, Z490 for the 10900K. Doh!! Thanks for the suggestions. Where did you buy your 9900KS? Can't see anything on Amazon. the 9900K seems easy to find though now especially with a discount given as the 10900K is about to land. -
When Is The New Open Beta Landing today? Anybody know exactly what time the new OB version with the Supercarrier is landing today?

I haven't even tried MP tbh. For me it's mainly SP so this doesn't really solve any prblem for me. I'm thinking of getting the following components. Could someone have a quick look and say if they approve or not? Is there any online pcbuilder that lets you build an incomplete pc? without the GPU/ SSD? -
Which CPU and Motherboard to run DCS really well?
CommandT replied to CommandT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ah cheers. Yeah your sort of set up is exactly what I need. The cooling iand throttling n my system is not an issue to be fair. I've god a cooler pad with 3 extra fans under the laptop nd the eGPU case has it's own powerful cooling and PSU so that is definitely not the issue. I've undervolted the CPU with the help of a friend so basically throttling doesn't happen and it runs pretty cool. I think my CPU however is just not good enough. I shall look into the 9900KS and Z390 mobo  Which PSU do you recommend? -
Hey folks, I've recently built a system out of my laptop with an eGPU which is an RTX 2080 Super. I'm suffering really terrible performance in missions and think my CPU is just not good enough. it's an i7 7700HQ. I think AI units in missions just kill it. I'm a bit sick and tired of constantly trying to get DCS to work with what I have. So I think I will build a tower PC using my 2080 Super and the Evo 970 2TB SSD that I have in my current laptop build. Could you guys recommend a powerful CPU and which motherboard to get? I would like to avoid overclocking the CPU as I don't trust myself with this kind of stuff and am not the most computer literate person in the world. I would like to have the option of adding VR further down the line so need to make sure bandwith is not an issue. Obviously I'd like to not spend more than what is needed to run DCS really well but at the same time I've no interest in cheaping out again to save a few quid and then realise I can't run shaddows on more than "low" or have some other compromise. I just want it to run smoothly with near enough everything tuned up and have missions run smoothly also. I'm running a 38" 4k screen if it makes any difference. Many thanks!
