baksie Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Why do we not have the crimea area in game? LO:FC has it and would it be possible to merge that part of the map into BS? RvETito Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Negative, engine limitation. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
lester Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 (edited) Why do we not have the crimea area in game? LO:FC has it and would it be possible to merge that part of the map into BS? An according with Andrey Chizh (ED): Yes, Crimea region won't be presented because of: 1. Terrain have to be changed radically due to "LOCKON" trade name was discarded. 2. Due to restriction on amount of objects in scene. Number of objects in early created territory (i.e. Crimea) had to be reduced to most Georgia territory, Mineralnye Vody and Nalchik region were built Edited November 24, 2008 by lester Все написанное выше является моим оценочным суждением Everything written above reflects my personal opinion Занимаюсь "активной пропагандой Американцев на данном форуме" © Flanker
Rikus Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Do you think that in a future with the new engine is possible to include again Crimea? Or at least from Kirovskoye to Georgia? Greetings
sobek Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 The tools are out there, just in need of somebody to pick them up. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
33 309th_Hedgehog Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 What is it now? An engine limitation or just not done (tools are out and waiting...)? Cannot be both. sobek Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 What is it now? An engine limitation or just not done (tools are out and waiting...)? Cannot be both. It can be done, but only in an additional terrain. It's not going to be in the stock terrain. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Rikus Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 It can be done, but only in an additional terrain. It's not going to be in the stock terrain. That´s the reason because i say "in future DCS Modules" not right now. Greetings
sobek Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 That´s the reason because i say "in future DCS Modules" not right now. I would guess that if future modules are going to come with additional terrain, then they would go for some different part of the globe. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! fox_111 Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I'd love an Afghan map or an Iraq map. even if it's purely for fictionnal conflics.
Eddie Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 I'd love an Afghan map or an Iraq map. even if it's purely for fictionnal conflics. You're not the only one mate, in fact I'd guess that the majority of of the people on these forums feel the same. But to be honest putting myself in ED's shoes(although I'm just speculating of course) I think it's a bit too recent for ED to model really. Of course there is no reason an external mod team couldn't do it. I'm hoping that when DCS:A-10C comes along we'll start seeing more in the way of mods (such as new theatres etc) provided it's not too difficult a task, as it'll obviously pull across a lot more of the fixed wing crowd so there will be a bigger community. A while I'm on the subject of new theatres, Korea anyone? :D:D:D:D
Griffin Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Afghanistan might be closer than you think: ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45658
Eddie Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Afghanistan might be closer than you think: ;) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45658 Do you know, I'd forgotten all about that mod. Here's hoping it all goes well and gets released sometime in the not too distant future. Of course I'd prefer southern Afhganistan (Helmand/Kandahar) but beggars can't be choosers. For me the terrain area in DCS is the biggest limiting factor, that's not to say there is anything wrong with what we have now, I'd just like a region that better lends itself to mass conventional war senarios rather than small scale scirmishes. That and a larger terrain area than we currently have, but obviously that's an engine issue so we'll have to wait for an engine update before we could see whole countries/regions being modelled. Maybe one day............
TheMoose Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 This Thread raises a good argument point if LOCKON 2.0 will be compatible with DCS Blackshark in multiplayer, does this mean that we will regain the whole map? How is this going to work in regards of the map area? How is this going to work in regards of the map area? You lose the Crimea, which IMHO is a to be much lamented as I have flown over it since Flanker 1.0, but I can understand why it had to be cut. When we all convert to 64bit we may hope for its return. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

Several years into the the Russo/Afghan war, Russia realised it needed to change its standard tactics for Afghanistan, and set up several training camps in the Caucasus. Having problems?
