Hook47 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 l am pretty excited for the release of the ZA, but I have been trying to determine some of the differences between the ZA and C. First of all, am I correct in assuming the loud out current available to the AI only L-39ZA is what will be available to the playable version? I did note no gun pod appears on the AI version armament panel. Also was wondering if there were any other general upgrades, I thought I heard the engine was upgraded. I tried searching about some but Wikipedia was about the largest read I could find on the ZA. Per the screen shots it appears we are getting a better armament panel
gospadin Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 As I understand it, gun pod and 4 pylons instead of 2. 2800lbs of payload. R-60 support. My liveries, mods, and missions for DCS:World M-2000C English Cockpit | Extra Beacons Mod | Nav Kneeboard | Community A-4E
King_Hrothgar Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Here's the short version: 1) 4 wing pylons instead of 2, able to load a maximum of 2x 500kg bombs or 4x 250kg bombs. For comparison, the L-39C can only muster a pair of 100kg bombs. 2) Centerline cannon pod. 3) Bigger engine that delivers far more thrust. I was unable to find a source on this immediately, but I know I've seen it a few times. Will keep looking.

L-39 ZA has built in Gsh-23-2 cannon with 150 rounds and it is not removable cannon. Maybe you thought the same. The engine should be the same AI-25 TL as in the L-39C. L-39ZA will have much more firepower than almost unarmed "C" model and "ZA" will be slower. [sIGPIC]http://dcs-uvp.cz/images/userbars/uvp_bars_mic.gif[/sIGPIC]
j.sabo12 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Actually the thrust to weight ratio is lower for the ZA version due to the increased weight of the aircraft :) Boeing 737 NG instructor at Simulator Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia

Could have sworn it had a different engine, maybe it was one of the modernization kits instead. And yes, the gun is a permanent addition. I didn't mean it was removable, merely that it is carried externally in a pod under the fuselage. Sorry if there was any confusion on that.
msalama Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Sorry if there was any confusion on that. No sorries! Just bring it on :D ......... .......... So I've waited for 5 minutes already. Dammit, where IS it then?!? The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
Buzzles Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Looking forward to the ZA, definitely going to have fun doing COIN ops with it in the mountains of the Black Sea region :) Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Stratos Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Looking forward to the ZA, definitely going to have fun doing COIN ops with it in the mountains of the Black Sea region :) Now trough a flyable Mi-24 Hind to that COIN operation... I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Einherjer Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 So - the ZA is here now and I like it in combat - but every single bullet that hit me seems to ignite my plane - burning engine after every pass
ED Team NineLine Posted March 2, 2016 ED Team Posted March 2, 2016 So - the ZA is here now and I like it in combat - but every single bullet that hit me seems to ignite my plane - burning engine after every pass Perhaps a bug report with all the needed pieces is in order? Einherjer Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I don't know if it is a bug - I have no track of it, but I have the "feeling" it is really vulnerable to gun fire - but has someone the same experience?
SFC Tako Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I've had fires but not all the time. Sometimes it's only the the avionics that get knocked out and sometimes I just get a small warning-light flashing. But then again, fires DO happen a lot when compared to other aircraft. Golo Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Those ground superhuman sniper units are not helping the situation either.
SFC Tako Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 @Golo: You too?! I mean I feel like the "new guys" in 1.5 are really really dangerous. Had to trim down a few things when I went over some old missions. My Semi-Pro Youtube Channel
flying rabbit Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Perhaps a bug report with all the needed pieces is in order? Can you please create a subforum for bugs on the l-39?
msalama Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Had to trim down a few things when I went over some old missions. +1 Downgraded the baddies to "average" and now seem to have a slight chance of surviving. But I'm also suffering from a Stuka complex and thus find myself diving to the ground quite often + exploding with my own FABs released from 30 feet too... :megalol: This bird is TONS of wrecked alumi.. eh, fun! Especially in a so-called "demented Sturmovik" mode - which is how real men fly anyway :D The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

msalama Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 We need timed fuses or sumtin' - I mean so we can continue flying manly ;) Yeah! Delayed fuses would make life much easier when attacking stationary targets. Starting to get the hang of this "demented groundpounder" thingy BTW, i.e. kinda getting to grips with how to abuse the bird without abusing her overtly or something, since I'm not getting killed by suicide that much anymore ;) As regards enemy activity however, well, that's another story altogether... I love this aircraft. A great wee COIN birdie she is! The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.
