A new mission, Operation "Bakwa Hammer", is now available on ED user files. This runway strike mission is designed to demonstrate optimal runway attack strategies based on the principles discussed in Runway Attacks in DCS World: Is (Almost) Everyone Doing It Wrong ??? A detailed analysis of the mathematical aspects of runway strikes, applicable to other elongated targets, can be found my personal page. Key findings indicate that non-PGM ordnance is most effective when delivered at a slight offset angle to the runway, rather than a parallel approach. The optimal angle is dependent on aircraft type and weapon CEP. You can fly "Bakwa Hammer" with any of your favorite DCS high-fidelity aircraft, either solo or with a wingman in MP. This mission challenges you to prepare your own flight plan from scratch, rewarding meticulous pre-flight planning. To cater to different playstyles, each aircraft is available in standard and "immortal" modes, allowing you to focus on the mission's tactical aspects without fear of premature mission failure. Eventually, remember that you can definitely use CombatFlite on the Afghanistan theater for your mission planning.

Overview Thanks for checking this out. Constructive feedback is absolutely welcome as I’m always looking to improve upon the content I share. Thanks in advance. I make these mini-campaigns for my small group of friends. What started out as a single mission for the Hornet (search Jupiter’s Javelin in files section) turned into several MP campaigns and countless hours of fun for the group. If you haven’t experienced DCS in a fully COOP (PvE) environment, I’d suggest you’re missing out on some real magic. I’d be remiss if I didn’t credit 2 content creators as “spiritual influencers” to my initiatives. They’d be @Dagobert666 and @Jenson. These guys paved the way for my initiatives over the years with MP campaigns themselves. Both are outstanding (one for Hornet, the other the Apache). Thanks to both for their hard work! Download Get the first mission here [https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3345275/] Details First and foremost, this is designed for Multi-Player. Yes, you can play this solo if you want. The storyline follows a fictional set of events taking place in Afghanistan in 2012. As a member of VFMA-323, you’ll fly “realistic” sorties from Kandahar in the Hornet. I take liberties with some of the story elements in an attempt to keep missions fun, immersive, yet not completely impossible to complete. Most missions take 60-90 minutes to complete. They aren’t overly milsim and are approachable by most intermediate Hornet pilots. Mods and Scripts I abhor mods. For years I wouldn’t even download a mission that had a mod required. Its really a shame, because there are many hugely talented mod makers out there. Alas, I find the juice is rarely worth the squeeze when it comes to mods as many struggle finding/installing/maintaining. IF I choose to include a mod in a mission, it’ll be for a darn good reason. I pledge to keep this campaign as mod-free as possible. I do deploy the splash damage script from @stevey666 in these missions. I like the eye candy and have configured his script to my tastes. If you want to change the settings, or simply remove, it’s the first line of the “initialization” trigger at the top of the triggers list in the ME. I'll also maintain a FAQ post below. Enjoy!

In military aeronautics, a good flight planning accounts for almost 90% of mission success... And for that, we are fortunate to have a dedicated software for DCS World: that's CombatFlite. It has proved to be an essential tool for flight planning and mission creation, from the simplest to the most complex ones. Unfortunately, it seems that updates to this software have now been discontinued, and it is unlikely that a dedicated theater will be created any time soon. The only option we have is to modify an existing theater and manually integrate the data we need. This is the path I've taken, and I've decided to modify the “Persian Gulf” theater to include mapping of the Afghan theater, as well as the data required to use all the software's functionalities. In the coming weeks, I'll explain you how to do that, and I'll direct you to the necessary files to let you use CombatFlite on the Afghan theatre!

Just took off from khandahar, in the Afghanistan cold and dark mission in the F/A-18C, was just going to target something with my helmet and slew the pod, so made the hud soi, then looked at my 2 oclock low (had the ring of lines on the hmd) and pressed TDC depress, to tag the target, and immediately after the diamond appeared on my target, the game froze, followed by a CTD 10seconds later. Due to the crash was obviously unable to get a track, and i dont have capture software sorry. Just wanted to report. This is on the latest update (afghan east one).

First off, let me say I appreciate ED for their hard work and dedication to realism, authenticity, and dedication to this sim. I have noticed some pretty terrible attention to detail on their Afghanistan map. I'm going to be "that guy" and even say it's an innocent mistake that treads the line of disrespectful. I served as a US Army 11B Infantryman in 2012 right at the very FOB that the "Urgoon Heliport" is in game. But it is indeed not spelled "Urgoon", it is spelled Urgun. And to take it further, the village of Urgun is actually south of that location. "Urgoon Heliport" is actually FOB Orgun-e where I served. Where 2 men died from a 250lbs IED only miles away while on mission. I can see the exact ceremony ground where we had the funeral. The Orgun-e heliport is south-west of the village of Orgun located within its "city limits". I am asking the devs to please make this correction out of respect for those that served there. Please change "Urgoon Heliport" to FOB Orgun-e and change the village of "Urgoon" to Orgun. Thank you.
