Aginor Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Nice! I'd love to see it in motion, though. Any chance for a short vid in a high resolution? DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
Zeus67 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 So... How do you read it? At this time the radar screen is incomplete. This is a test to see if the track dot moves correctly in the screen. Nice! I'd love to see it in motion, though. Any chance for a short vid in a high resolution? Not until the screen is complete. Right now, all I have is a dot. Aginor Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Okay, that makes sense. Not much to see yet I guess. :) DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
Zeus67 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Okay, that makes sense. Not much to see yet I guess. :) No, but I wanted to show you some progression. Most of the development was "under the hood", stuff you will never be able to see or feel. I am at a point where I can feel confident enough to start tackling the placing of the graphical elements in the radar screen and the HUD. Unfortunately this step is the most tedious and time consuming. It took a whole day to have that little dot move correctly. Aginor Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) I wonder about the rest of the systems. Can you give us a short overview about what is finished already? I know you showed a video of some gauges moving quite a while ago, I am just curious if things have changed much since then. (this one: ) ADI seemed to be working, VVI, ASI and altimeter as well, and some digital gauge which I think is the throttle setting or something. Part of the HSI was also working (it was moving at least). EDIT: Oh, and this one of course: It shows some more stuff working, like weapons panel, fuel gauge, and fuel flow (I think). EDIT: And thank you again for showing us WIP content. We really appreciate every bit you show us, even if it is small things. :) Edited August 6, 2015 by Aginor DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
Jumbik Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 I'm so glad to see that you are on good way. I suppose the Mirage will be first DCS aircraft with advanced radar modeled (not counting MiG-21 here) and that's an achievment on it's own. I wish you the best for 2015 release, I hope you can make it. It would make an excelent Christmas present for us all and some nice holiday bonus for you I hope. :) Great work! Zeus67 Posted August 6, 2015 Posted August 6, 2015 Today's test with multiple tracks enabled (max 10 tracks): Radar range is 20 nmiles. Image 1: Two tracks spotted at about 18 to 19 nmiles. Image 2: At 10 nmiles the tracks split into four. (two were masked by their companions). Image 3: A better resolution of the tracks close formation at 8 nmiles. 2 "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. Tirak Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Sweet, I know it's too much to hope for a September release, but I really hope this modules makes it for 2015, it's a great opponent for the MiG-21.
TheSkipjack95 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I have only one question about the 2000. Will it come in black ?
SDsc0rch Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 zeus! Tirak Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 It will be FAR more capable than the mig-21 tbh. The way I'm looking at it is comparing the MiG-21 to the F-15. The MiG just can't handle the fire and forget, or the sheer range alone. The Mirage doesn't have fire and forget, and its ranged missiles are much shorter. So while in BVR it still holds an advantage, it's not nearly as bad as having to fight the F-15. Also, in close, the Mirage bleeds speed pretty badly, it'll be a very different kind of fight than the SU-27s and F-15s are used to, something more in line with the MiG-21s level. A more perfect analogue is the F-5E, but we have no idea how long that module will take, if it's an actual module at all and not just Wags pulling everyone's tail.
Airbuster Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Really impressive progress, nice work Zeus67! Can you give a comment about the EFM progress?

Don't forget the Mirage 2000C has relaxed static stability, leading edge slats, canards, fly-by-wire controls, HOTAS, look down radar etc. It would annihilate the MiG-21 if both aircraft were flown by competent pilots.

All the planes in DCS are fly by wire :megalol: and HOTAS too for most players. The ability to pull high AoA is nice, but it's a delta, and delta's bleed in turns bad. And again, keep in mind the competition, the F-15. The Mirage's radar and weapons simply can't compete with what we've been fighting ;)

I would dare to disagree, if you pit a Mirage2000 and a Mig-21 head on in a one-on-one possibly the Mirage has a considerable advantage. If you employ the Mig-21 in a way it was supposed to be employed with superiority in numbers against western aircraft and using low approach guided by GCI Radar, the Mirage has a tough opponent... Given a 1:4 ratio in favor of the MIGs and the need to actively acquire the MIGs on radar until they activate their own at the last possible moment, might even the odds considerable. ;) P.S. anyhow the Radar looks great. I can't wait for this baby... A nice addition to the collection and bringing a lot new possibilities... Just the LGB capability is so interesting, fast delivery of guided bombs to JTACs on call in minutes rather than hours... Edited August 7, 2015 by shagrat Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
Bidartarra Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Not just because I'm French and I have been seeing those flying around quite a few time but this looks very promising. I only play the Mig 21 in MP but I'm definitely gonna play the hell outta this beautiful bird.
Zeus67 Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Last picture of the week. The radar screen now has most of its elements. Next step is target selection for TWS (Track While Search) and STT (Single Target Track). By the way, the image is not blurry. There are two tracks so close to each other that they were masking themselves into a single one. Just like in real life.
