Gerg Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Hi there, i was wondering if theres a key combo to open the door behind the middle crew member? In lots of vids on youtube of the mi8 the door seems to be left open and can see through length of craft. Is this possible in the game or will it be added when coming out of beta? Would be cool to see though back and out side windows from cockpit to really appreciate the size and modeled interior of the mi8.
mwd2 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) under option (System) Open/Close Cargo Doors: LAlt+LCtrl+C Edit: okay, you mean the door between Cockpit and cargo bay....not that i know. RazorbackNL Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 The door commands for the Mi-8 are: Open/close cargo doors = LALT + LCTRL +C Open/close left blister = LCTRL + C Open/close right blister = LSHIFT + C Open/close left door = LCTRL +LSHIFT + C 1 Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-Fi) | AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 4,5Ghz | 128Gb DDR4 3200Mhz | beQuiet! eurofor Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Maybe if/when we get a rear gunner the cargo compartment will also be part of the internal model so we can open/close the door. It would do much for immersion to be able to look back into the rear of the helicopter and get an better perception of its size. Edited March 16, 2014 by eurofor [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
slicker55 Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Many years after this was originally posted, seems like the right place to ask if the doors now work in 2020... I have mapped the key bindings from the list in DCS options menu - the blisters open/close but nothing else? i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
paco2002 Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 You can open the same door, the rear ones and the two on the cabin compartiment
slicker55 Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 You can open the same door, the rear ones and the two on the cabin compartiment ... that is good news but how do you do this please? I have tried pressing the keys when the helicopter is ready for take-off (i.e rotor/systems running etc) but nothing happens? :book: i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
Art-J Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 I've just checked the default key combos given above in post #4 (never changed them) in Caucasus cold start mission and they work as advertized. Side and back doors open/close allright. Are you sure you mapped the keys in Mi-8 "sim" and not "game" section of the controls? i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Kang Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Going back to the original question, though... there is a keybinding for 'Open/close cockpit door', but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Holton181 Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Going back to the original question, though... there is a keybinding for 'Open/close cockpit door', but it doesn't seem to do anything. Just went to bed so can't test myself for a while, but if this is true there is one thing I like to try. The flight engineer isn't present on his seat when having selected a sling cargo. He is keeping an eye on the sling through the hole in the floor in the compartment. Maybe this keybinding have an effect in this particular situation, when the flight engineer isn't blocking the door? I don't believe it, but have never tried it (actually didn't know the keybinding existed). paco2002 Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 The doors are the Left side Window, the MI8, doesn't have an openeable door like the UH-1H, if that's what you're looking for.
Art-J Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 ^ But it does, on the left side behind the cockpit, the ones where machine gun can be installed. I understand these are the doors (apart from clamshell ones) Slicker was asking about. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

slicker55 Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 @Art-J Good point, thanks but checked just in case, and my keys are mapped in Mi-8 'Sim' Do your doors operate as soon as cold start mission loads or do you have to switch things on in the cockpit ... battery etc? Maybe the hinges one my doors just need a bit of WD40 :megalol: i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
Art-J Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 No, they work right after loading. Maybe something gets fudged if default keyboard assignments are changed, or joystick button mapping doesn't work correctly? Haven't checked that, I only tested default keyboard commands as above. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Kang Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 This may sound stupid, but just in case: neither door can be operated while there is a gun mounted to it.
slicker55 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 @Kang Good point... doing some more tests later tonight because all doors operated correctly last night but, on reflection, instead of using an 'instant action' mission, I was flying one of my own 'custom' missions? i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
slicker55 Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 (edited) tested again tonight... all doors working when running my own 'custom mission' and 'instant action' but only left/right blisters when using 'create fast mission'... no probs / happy now :) Edited January 19, 2020 by slicker55 i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
Sarpalaxan Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 This may sound stupid, but just in case: neither door can be operated while there is a gun mounted to it. Had to learn this when I loaded the gunners with open Cargo Doors. Poor gunners had to sit out in the Air for the rest of the flight holding on to that Door for his Live.
