uboats Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 In 1.2.7, I met a dramatic fps drop when looking from back after ramp start. This happens with throttle idle w/o blur, if throttle to 80%, with blur visible, fps can be better. I do not know why. I am using lenovo y410p w/ gt750m Screenshots are attached. setup before start up, fps is above 50 from both front and back view fps: 95 fps: 70 After start up, but keep throttle idle, I cannot see the heat blur but the fps drops a lot to less than 20 if I move view at back fps: 12 fps: 19 fps: 14 But from front view, the fps does not drop too much and above 30 as well as taking off with afterburning fps: 57 fps: 56 fps: 30 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My DCS Mods, Skins, Utilities and Scripts | Windows 10 | i7-4790K | GTX 980Ti Hybrid | 32GB RAM | 3TB SSD | | TM Warthog Stick | CH Pro Throttle + Pro Pedal | TIR5 Pro | TM MFD Cougar | Gun Camera: PrtScn |
AtaliaA1 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 It is a matter of the GPU preparing to draw what is in front of you. In the view from behind you are looking toward the fight (ie. jets, buildings and other objects) necessary to continue the sim. should you continue in that direction. when viewing the front of the jet, you are looking away from the war and little in the way of objects that need to be rendered to the screen. Beach07 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Hi, I'm encountering a framerate drop as well when in an external view looking behind a jet. I did some experimenting and it only seems to be when at a certain distance from the jet itself. If I zoom in close, there will be little framerate drop. (30fps) I zoom out a little bit and the framerate drops to 12 fps. If I zoom out even more, the fps will increase back to normal rate. From what I've heard from others in multiplayer, this is a very common issue, yet it's sort of puzzling. At first I figured it was the heat blur, so I instantly turned it off hoping to counter the issue, but it still occurs regardless.
SDsc0rch Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 i've noticed a significant stutter (low FRs) when taxiing behind another jet i've got solid frames in all other regimes i can be in close trail (immediately behind and below) at altitude - no problems with frame rates but taxi behind another jet? st-t-t-t-t-t-tutter... what's up with that?? i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
arkroyale048 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Just want to inquire if anyone also gets FPS stutters when looking behnd (from cockpit view) Irregular streamer: http://www.twitch.tv/arkroyale048/profile
Witchking Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I've noticed it as well...since quite a few of the last dcs versions. It also haopens if u move the f2 camera to the back of ur own aircraft after landing\taxiing. I think has to do with heat haze? Although I see no haze graphically during the taxiing, there is a slowdown. This massive hit is not at all noticed in the air when heat haze is actually visible. SDsc0rch Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 hmm! so.. "maybe" the calculations for the heat blur are being done - causing stuttering and lower FPS - but the heat blur is not actually being displayed ---- ?!? could that be the case? i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I don't think so, I experienced the same issue months ago. It seems to occur at a specific zoom level when looking from behind in the F2 view. Direct behind, no problem. Zooming out some more, also no problem... Heat blur computing should not have such an impact since I also have it on since November. Edit: Here my original post for the Mi-8, drop from 95fps to 55 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=125041 Still having those issues with the Flanker and the Eagle. Mustang Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 (edited) It's the engine smoke effects causing the slowdown. Example http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122410 Edited January 11, 2015 by Mustang 1

Example http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=122410 rgr that ---- thx now, hopefully it can get fixed? here's a possible "workaround" -- turn off engine smoke while on the ground (or when within say.. 100-ft altitude - ?) i don't see it while i'm taxiing behind another jet anyway - might as well save the framerates but i am often in close proximity to other jets before take-off/after landing - and the framerates are bothersome Edited January 12, 2015 by SDsc0rch i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
