i wish ed would make a armour sim, where we get to drive the tanks n stuff, that would be cool.

or as i posted ages ago, if they made a sim that with all the addons etc, would make it so the entire battlefield could be controlled by the user, like if you wanna fly, you fly, if you wanna drive tanks cool or even boats n subs, now can you imagine a sim like that, where the options of what vehicle you used was endless. that would be my dream come true.

I haven't played it, but from what I've read OFP is similar to what you mention; same with Battlefield2. Granted the FM's and avionics won't be on par with what we are used to, but as technology and computer power advances, we can expect the fidelity to increase in these games.

I agree, though. It would be nice if ED would get into this. I think it would even be worth thier while to open the source code and subcontract to an FPS based company.

Thats exactly my dream game. Closest there is with todays technology is battlefield 2. Arcadey and the people who play it arent the most mature. Still more mature than counterstrike though :)

Hey, i play BF 2, love it and i'm pretty darn good at it too (i'm in a clan) :D :D

Ok, lol, enough "braggin", but regarding "the ultimate sim" or whatever, the closest is most definetly not BF 2 in that regard. Bf 2 is pure FPS fun, with huge terrains :p

The closest thing that pops to mind would be World War II Online. I've tried it. I had this 1 week of free online play. It was pretty fun flying around, shooting at little soldiers running around and trucks and tanks and so on. Even some of the Infantry battles were pretty cool.

In regards to A2G, Instead of doing anything with the A-10 why not bring in the 15D model. Its both A2G and A2A capable. Just like most of the planes with the Russian side of the game. Along with Air Superiority you can also have the ground devastation as we do in real life. I think if anything that would be the best way to go in regards to working on anything. IMO i think that the Russian side has the ability to do anything and everything. And with most Missions played usually its U.S vs Russia. I think instead of throwing in an A-10 where you know you are going to get blown to pieces when flying agains a squadron of 29s or 33s you throw in a 15D where you can have the agility to be able to get out and away if need be. Don't think its that easy in the Hog. JMO

'cause I think the idea is to have a "ballanced" pair of hardcore sim groundpounders & making one of them an Eagle would a/skew it & b/ have all the Flanker drivers spewing about no AFM/Advanced avionics for them.

Cheers.

Such a sim would fit in well with the Seawolves as we have divisions that use different sims as well as ventrillo channels for each one.

AW(Airwolves Division)

STAT(Seawolves Tactical Assault Team)

http://seawolves.org/stat/

SWAF(Seawolves Armed Forces)

http://www.seawolves.org/swaf/

SWSF(Seawolves Special Forces)

Seawolves(Virtual Navy)

Seawolves Forums

To build such a sim successfully a company has to cooperate with other companies that specialise in that field of simming or create such divisions in their own company. For example its possible for ED to create such a concept now as they already are crossing into helicopters. Which is a big step in that direction, if they were to model tanks then they have two options:

A/ do it themselves or create a small group to do it.(it would work in lockons graphics)

B/ cooperate with a tank sim company such as the guys doing Steel Beasts or the Russian company doing a T72 sim and create an interface thats common for both TK and T72 to share the same network. Personally I'd like to see flight sims merged with Naval sims such as Dangerous Waters on a map of the whole world. It might happen sooner or later and yes hopefully with Hornets, Tomcats and Vikings..:icon_supe

I think the pic is from VX6, I had a laugh when I saw it. The problem when merging FPS with any other sim is that you always have a few cowboys who shoot everything in sight. Might be handy to have a friendly fire mode to prevent anyone shooting the pilot or aircraft.:D (Might have to get BF2 just for a laugh.)

bf2 is magic, there is a button that if u get tkd, it asks if u wanna forgive the tker, depending on the server setting, if u say no, the tker can be kicked or docked points.

bf2 is magic, especially as i get tooo much fps so i get the jump on everyone :D also am practically always the first into a server once the map changes , so chances are i get the helos or armour :D.

the same cant be said for the buggy slow loading laggy Special forces addon pack :(
