Is there a light for the radar altimeter? I also noticed that even after I turn on all four of the rotary knobs some of the instruments still do not light up. Anyway to light them up as well. Thanks

YES there is. Actually 3 separate lights for 3 separate instruments! All Doppler Radar related.

Message #7, above, is incorrect. Found this thread by doing a search for your same question I had. No other returned result referenced, just yours.

Spent the last few days setting-up Mi-8 and learning. A SOB finding the solution to my and your question. Compared it to night ops in the 1.5 MP Buddyspike's Blue Flag server at the Beslan airport where the Mi-8 was already running, powered up and all lights were on, compared to a cold start, day time setup, same server.

The lights are for the "Radar Altimeter" and also the "Hover and "Low Speed Control Indicator" for hovering >>> later identified as "Stationary Flight Indicator" (page 107) in the ED DCS Mi-8 Flight Manual. And the "ДИСС-15 (DISS-15) Doppler system ground speed and drift indicator" .

Chuck's Guide for the Mi-8 : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3NVJwVjhQZG0xZ2M/view

See Chuck's Guide (page 20)

Go to Copilot's seat (keypad 2) right side, overhead :

RIGHT_TRIANGLE_PANEL : On / Off Switch for the 5.5 Volt Lights (Doppler SYS) - [in cockpit labels]

See Chuck's Guide (page 30) = Doppler System & Yadro-1A radio control panel lighting switch (next to the Microphone Power Switch)

Another switch also has to be rotated to maximum; it is located behind the Copilot's's seat to the lower right of the first-aid box on the bulkhead.

See Chuck's Guide (pages 33, 37 and 100).

My copy of DCS Mi-8 Flight Manual is 224 pages both Russian labeling and English text I obtained somewhere, but a Google search I cannot find a copy to reference it. Mine is found in Start/All Programs/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Documentation

This listing is also found at C:/Program Data/Microsoft/Windows/Start Menu/Programs/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Documentation

I think this is what I have. : https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1074349/

I find .pdf downloads doing Google searches and add stuff to my Start/All Programs Start menu for easy access when DCS does not include manuals in their early work.

The DCS Mi-8 Flight manual (my copy) see page 49 (items 8 and 14), page 50 (item 12), and page 58 (item 2) as above.

The 5.5v lights (Radar Altimeter and Low Speed Control Indicator) appear to be broken in 2.1.1.6837.

Can anyone confirm?

Solved it. I was missing the control directly behind the co-pilot (as opposed to the two next to the flight engineer).

Leaving this here so other people can find the answer.
