Oesau Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 We are more than happy to confirm that we are working in collaboration with VEAO to bring the Skyhawk to DCS. For Obvious reasons I cant go into details for the module and appropriate announcements and confirmations will follow from the guys at VEAO in due course. Watch this space! Awesome news!!

southernrebel Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 or ters, but remember this little hot rod was made from the begining to be capable and designed for the nuke bombs with blast shields to boot. that can make a lot of glass.
JazAero Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 I don't know what MER's and ters stand for, and judging from how fast this thread went ice cold. I'm guessing no one else knows either. southernrebel Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 looks like everybody else covered it pretty well. i agree a4skyhawk.org is a great source for general stuff. they just dont let you down load stuff. some pic's can be bu there is a lot that will not. mer's and ter's where developed by us navy officers at china lake back in the mid 60's. you could carry 250 lb. bombs, 500,1000, 2000lb bombs. walleye bomb and bullpup missiles too, as well as b-47 nuke bomb. the racks where developed for the A-4 skyhawk. they worked so well that a lot of aircraft used them and still use them to this day.
southernrebel Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 As Mk_82 showes you, that mer holds a 500 lb bomb. the thing is that if 500 lb bombs are used then you have to leave one off. the forward inboard rack on the A-4 could no hold a bomb because of the wheel well door. Mk-82 due you have any drawings of the areo 7 center line bomb rack or the aero 20 for the wings. whould like to have lenghts on the ters and mers too. diamaters also.

I meant that comment as a joke because with my experience I should know what those two expressions meant, the a 4 Skyhawk is also one of my favorites. I just thought I knew everything about the plane including those 2 expressions. But in my age I forgot their meanings. after all, the last time I sat in one was back in A-school some 39 years ago ;) age has a way of making you forget things that once upon a time were painfully obvious:smilewink: Not to worry, talking to you guys has it all coming back to me now LOL [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus X370, Win10 Pro, Intel I-9 9900K 4.8 128 gb TridentZ, 2X Nvidia TITAN V (volta) , 65" Samsung 7100 series 4K , 2 x 1 TB Evo 860SSD, 4 X 4TB HD, 8 X 2TB HD external array Tmaster Wathog, Elgato Streamdeck, 3DX Spacepilot pro,, Thermaltake 900 tower Corsair H150 WC, HTC Vive, Pimax 8KX VR, Nostromo Speedpad N52, Tmaster MFD x2
Chief1942 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 You hang in there "Old Timer". I wish I could remember everything I seem to have forgotten about the scooter since that was the primary A/C for my 4 years at El Toro. Except for an initial stint with an F-4J Fury transition squadron, A-4's are all I worked with. VMA-311 was the last outfit I was assigned to before my discharge in '64. Looking at the pics of those VMA-311 Tomcat A/C really brings back the memories.
