Jimbo Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Seems Breitling are running a competition over the next 2 days to win a flight to Paris (apparently in a Breitling jet, but I may have misheard that bit as I was in heavy nerd out mode :pilotfly:). It'll be in St Pauls (London) for the next 2 days if anyone is in the area. Think I'll give my team and myself the day off :)
MacFevre Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) Nice setup. Reminds me of the simulator in that Matthew Broderick movie. Geez, it was back in the 80's with training monkeys to fly. Can't remember the name now. Project something. Anyway, yeah, looks like that. :) Edited May 5, 2014 by MacFevre Buttons aren't toys! :smilewink: My new Version 2 Pit: MacFevre A-10C SimPit V2 My first pit thread: A-10C Simulator Pit "The TARDIS." lunaticfringe Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 :music_whistling: Looks like LockOn... That's what I was gonna say. Shame to have such a nice setup, and not do the 6DoF cockpit and PFM for such a competition...
Suchacz Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 It looks like it is made for a promotional purposes instead of a BJT pilots' training :smilewink: Per aspera ad astra! Jimbo Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 It was a custom FC2 map with a slalom course. Essentially the f15 with an L39 skin. Really simple, forward back, left right up and down. No trim, single throttle and no pedals etc, designed for the lunchtime crowd to have a go. Was a good laugh, the tech guys at the stand were a great bunch and really helpful. They gave me some really good insights into how they set things up, materials, costs etc (poor guys, I'm pretty sure they were glad when I finally buggered off!) It did however, make me want to concentrate on the visuals a lot more rather than switches and panels.... hmmm, need to buy a projector!
Jimbo Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Ok... That was ****** epic!!! Amazing experience and the pilots were the nicest, most down to earth guys you could imagine. Think I'll give up pit building and put my money toward flying lessons. (apologies for my ugly mug in the pics, we weren't allowed to take a camera in the plane so no forward facing shots :( )

lxsapper Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 The FoV on that Lockon setup is ridiculously narrow. From looking at that photo locks like the projection FoV must be higher than 120º or maybe even close to 180º to whoever is sitting in the playseat. Yet It's probably set to about 50º or so in game.
Jimbo Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Nice one!! Would love to do that, looks amazing, did you feel sick at all? I popped a bunch of travel sickness pills before hand... Just to be on the safe side. But if you've ever experienced my wife's driving, you build up a resistance to motion sickness pretty quick :)

Deadman Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Jimbo looks like quite the adventure . https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
