Stratos Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I'm enjoying CA, but still miss some key features like better infantry control, and some units missing in game. Seeing how CA is a bit the ugly duck of ED, I will like to ask where is this game going, which are the feautres officially anounced and what can we expect for the coming months/year. Thanks. I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!
Wichid Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I think a lot depends on the affect the new graphics engine has on CA. I've not really seen much confirmed but many have assumed that the AI line of sight and the terrain will be better suited to ground units. With CA 1.5 being able to lock a unit, lase it and fire is quite fun! Paganus Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 You can also use a mission start trigger with the action of "Group AI off" for all the ADF groups, and they will not have any AI at all, but are still accessible to CA players.

Being a huge fan of CA and mission building, it would be nice to know of we will have the same editor or if 3D placement and selection will be enabled. The Zeus feature in ARMA is great, and would be awesome if made for DCS at some level, but having edge will hopefully be a new beginning to a plethora of new options for dcs.

MP mission composers have to think about this, or ED must create own MP missions and let us play in MP arena. karambiatos Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 once a lot of CA units start moving around the server crashes pretty fast, so its kind of bad in that sense, also once a player gets into an aa vehicle, especially a tor or something, aircraft start dropping like flies, and the fact that many CA players start hiding all their aa in middle of forests, i guess most mission makers dont want to deal with it, a CA player should be there to enrich the experience, not play to win at any cost, at least in my opinion. What fixed our server was the graphics for the server host was set to max, changing the graphics for the host computer to low everything makes it run like it would in a single player mission.
calibro8185 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 For the CA mission builders, it is dependent on the goal of the mission. Coop vs AI, or PVP. Coop is story line or tactical. If people want to PVP, then EDGE will hopefully solve the hiding in forest with the new collision capable trees. Personally, PVP is not my thing. Having a game master in the AAA or SAMS to add immersion makes more sense when in a coop tactical mission.
ENO Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 I've been trying to give the CA players more ownership overall by giving them packages of ground troops that need to achieve an objective... but the only way to achieve it is to get air power to whittle down defenses. Only issue is it can take time and the CA players often get bored with waiting... and the level of micromanagement his AI needs trends towards the ridiculous. pepin1234 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) Honestly... CA is one of the best Tools for the DCS series. Not yet a Simulator but amazing tool for try do some realistics tactics. Normally when u dont find CA Slots in MP Servers cuz the module Need be tunned a Little bit more, but ED have made a lot of Progress since the first day of this modules series. there are a couple of things ED can do in short term for the CA Players: 1- the soldiers and RPG/Manpads Units should ride all the AIR-transports with Triggers/CA orders. 2- the RPG soldier should be first Person control like the Manpads do now. 3- Naval Units artillery and short range onboards SAMs could be controled by CA users. 4- the soldiers should may jump from Air-transports and become a paratroopers, ones they landing, they become a normal soldier unit. If I create a mission where I would like to place a JTAC behind enemy lines, maybe with a group of soldiers for protection, preferably on a hill top I have to put a humvee or an APC! This is rediculous. Couldn't we have a model of manpad infantry with SOFLAM instead? Somebody please, please, please fix that!

Have you checked in the mission editor if you have sufficient JTAC, commander, game master players on the "red/blue" side ? Also, I am guessing MANPAD needs to be marked as "player can drive" ?
