Wow them Futuristic Super Advanced Flight Models!< (/end sarcasm).

I'm pretty sure LucasArts will have something to say about their Tie Clone.

from the KS page...

We will also use the money for further model development as we hire professionals to complete models which we will budget £45 towards
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Good luck with that...Kid...

Give me a £1500 [that's being kind] and I'll make you one...

Hopefully they have more in their legal budget than they do for 'professional modellers'.

Didn't you read? They are experienced individuals and so they know that no problems will be encountered. And if they do encounter problems (which is not possible) the developer has never been beat by a challenge.

If you don't throw money at this you're a fool.

Sir, you have convinced me. Who wants my DCS A-10C key ?

Poor DCS peasants.

Not really sure why you're all feeling the need to mock so much. The guy likely has a very serious interest in simulation and is working on his own to build something. He has only requested a very small amount of funding on Kickstarter.

If this guy has the ability to build a game from scratch that uses pseudo realistic flight physics with some level of systems, then (if not now) he will likely very soon be able to contribute to advanced systems in simulators like DCS and PMDG. We all start somewhere.

I have attempted to write rudimentary aircraft system simulators in Java and it very quickly becomes extremely complex. We're talking basic radio functionality here. The guy also clearly doesn't have English as his first language, so the description isn't that funny.

Most of the people knocking him here probably couldn't write "Hello World" in Python or Ruby, so perhaps think before insulting.

The coding looks fine to me. I couldn't write anything close to what is shown in the video.

I wouldn't call it a simulator ever though. It doesn't seem to be a language issue, the world realism comes up a few times. This is clearly anything but. It almost seems deceptive if it wasn't for how obvious it was. Unless the product or description changes significantly you could accuse the dev of lying.

If he actually did make this game himselft, he's anything but new to development - with not less than 14 published games on Google Play. One of them being "Air Strike 3D" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ScnStudios.AirStrike3D ) which is this specific game.

Although I haven't mocked him yet, I don't see much reality from him. I have re-read his game description and he has written of features that I think:

A) he doesn't realize that he won't be able to deliver on the feature set

B) his terminology and/or expectations are not the same as some (most?) of the DCS users

C) deceiving potential backers

My main points of my assertions are:

1) in writing the pc/mac/linux version, he has asked for so little money that if he did it on his own, I would shutter on how long it would that to develop a stable, realistic flight simulator. I would have him define realistic.

2) he puts android and iOS into the mix but doesn't give them different expectations or feature set. I do write codefor a living (last 18 years), he may be a wizard at coding but he can't out code the limits of a platform and device. I don't see how he would create "realistic" flight sim. All the physics, networking, interface, controllers, etc. would bog down most android devices.

I just have a hard time believing he can deliver. That is why I wouldn't back him.

Possibly, but then why does he use footage from another game? Right now it's "here is a ripped video of a flight sim, please give me some money"

The guy also clearly doesn't have English as his first language, so the description isn't that funny.

According to his (apparently verified) profile, the bloke's name is Callum Jones and he's from the UK. That makes the description hilarious.

And I've never tried Python or Ruby, but I could do "Hello World" in several other languages, does that count?

Bloody hell, I just presumed anybody able to write code that was English would be able to write well! In that case, the description is hilarious!
