Falcon_S Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I think it's noticeably faster loading, better FPS too Thanks for the info Oxide! Quote Немој ништа силом, узми већи чекић! Sorin Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 (edited) For me is about the same... not faster, not slower. Edited May 26, 2014 by Sorin
joey45 Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 I see no difference... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Fabri91 Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 From what I've read the improved performance may be (more) noticeable on 6- and 7-series cards. Abburo Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 On my 770 GTX SLI - no visible improvments. I have tested out with: DCS - same as before - i have 30 FPS with mirrors on, 60 mirrors off - max details, single player and EXTREME ViEW mod enabled. ARMA3 - same as before World of Tanks - it's new engine is a crap so even these new drivers cannot handle it properly - FPS varies from 10 to 110 randomly. I will try to becnhmark as soon as I can Asseto Corsa and Rfactor2. Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom
Pman Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Tested with my 780ti's No difference in sli or single card Pman

Abburo Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 World of tanks I noticed a massive improvement , gone from 30-35 to 50-70 at 6040x1080p WOW: that's what is called battlefield awarness :D. In my case all games were run on single big TV on 1920x1080 ... forgot to mention that Romanian Community for DCS World HW Specs: AMD 7900X, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090, HOTAS Virpil, MFG, CLS-E, custom

Sorin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 From what I've read the improved performance may be (more) noticeable on 6- and 7-series cards. I use a 680 with 4 monitors, 4960x2936. The new Nvidia drivers brought no increase of performance. I guess the improvements are for DirectX 11 games only...

Sorin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 This is what this update is all about. Better drivers would not improve fps of the DCS anyway because its incompatibility with multicore CPUs is what creates the actual bottleneck. I disagree... at least in my case the GPU is the bottleneck, not the CPU. Two of four CPU's are used all the time and they never go 100%.
Sorin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Try overclocking the CPU and it should handle that. I do only 3.9 GHz and it works. Newer i7 CPUs can easily do 4.2 GHz. Smoke is a known problem and it is not really mandatory IMHO.
Abburo Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Sorin, this is about how many CPU cores is DCS using and the answer is two. For sure (monitored by myself also) not four. One processing and one sound. These are facts over discussed here. Rendering an simple flight mission can go to 100 FPS while if in same mission you will change and add units, triggers and so on your FPS will decrease sometime dramatically. Some games/engines are using multi core processing like that: a second AI plane will be processed by CPU core2, a third AI unit will be processed by CPU core 3 and so on. Is not yet the case for DCS which is single core by design. Somehow multicore processing will come with EDGE. New Nvidia drivers seems to help only in some specific conditions, but for sure not on older directX games like DCS or ARMA. Sorin Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Abburo, if you read my post above it says "Two of four CPU's are used all the time". This is a well known fact. Rendering DirectX on more than one core is very hard to do. So don't expect that to come soon, EDGE or whatever.

kobac Posted June 29, 2014 Posted June 29, 2014 I have an ASUS NVIDIA GF GTX 460, I was a little overclocking GPU, and with this (337.88 ) latest drivers I noticed - after a while TIR works, but will not center, or to receive commands. When I get out of the simulation, and click on the TIR icon I see a message that OpenGL driver component stopped responding and it's need to close program. I do not recall that I previously had these problems. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Everything is possible ...
