Buckeye Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Are the Saitek Flight Combat Rudder Pedals the best pedals for the money? I am looking to keep my expenditure under $200, as I just ordered the TrackIR5 (with ProClip) and TM Warthog within the last month...but I will admit I have no done extensive research on my options. These pedals stick out in my mind as being highly recommended, but I could be overlooking better options. Thus, I am turning to the experts of this forum to advise a fellow pilot. If these are not my best option for the money, which other pedals should I be considering? Cali Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Look at the CH Products pedals, they are around $100. I used them for years and loved them, but I recently bought the Saitek combat pedals and I really like them. Do your research on them, a few things I like about the Saitek pedals compared o the CH is they are wider, you can adjust the angle and tension....you can't do any of that stuff with CH. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED

Thanks, Cali! I will continue researching for now, but I figured I would reach out to my fellow pilots here to solicit their feedback. Through my research tonight, I think the Saitek Combats are a pretty nice match with the quality of my TM Warthog HOTAS, only falling short of the MFG offering. Howver, it appears the Saitek Combats are sold out everywhere, with the quickest replenishment coming from MPS on June 23rd (where I currently have a pending preorder). I will use that wait period to continue researching and weighing my options, I will cancel my order if necessary. I wish I could afford the MFG's, but for now, the budget simply won't allow for them. X93355 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Same as Cali, I use to have the CH Pro Pedals a long time ago. Saitek combat pedals now and they are good as adjustable and better looking. Still plastic though. Nothing like the real thing, think the MFG crosswind would be better if the wife would let me buy them. PFunk1606688187 Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 CH Pedals are insanely narrow for rudder pedals. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
krazybiskit Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I use the Saitek Pro Flight Pedals..The "combat" pedals have metal pedals but the rest is plastic
cichlidfan Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 It's also worth pointing out, if you are being cost conscious, that the less expensive Saitek Pro Flight pedals ( http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Pro-Flight-Rudder-Pedals/dp/B000H67DDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1402372116&sr=8-1&keywords=saitek+pro+flight+rudder+pedals ) have the same internal parts as the Combat pedals. I am guessing the the Pro Flights don't have any adjustment for brakes though. xxJohnxx Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 MFG Crosswind pedals. They won't meet your 200$ price range, but they are definatelly worth it. Much better than the Saitek ones in my opinion! docfu Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Can't mention MFG Crosswind pedals without also putting in a plug for Slaw Device at roughly the same price... After all, you wouldn't want to be biased, would you?
Koekemoeroetoe Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Personally I'm really content with my CH Pro Pedals. Bought them together with the CH Yoke second handed for €70 (~$90). Both things are as new. My suggestion is, if you have a limited budget, to check e.g. Ebay a lot. There are always people who want to get rid of their stuff and sell it for way less than what they could get for it. I was content with my CH pedals also, the main reason was because I had a full CH set up and it work flawlessly together. When I switched and decided to sale my CH stuff, everything was getting sold. Like someone mentioned....the CH pedals are narrow, but I never had a problem with it. Maybe if you fly a center stick, but I fly side stick. CH is built to last and I hope my Saitek survives as long as my CH did. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
BaD CrC Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Saitek pro flight combat rudder is the best you can get for a reasonable amount of money. https://www.blacksharkden.com http://discord.gg/blacksharkden
Laurius Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I completly agree with BaD CrC. I have been having them for nearly 3 years and evething is fine with them. Before, I had the "only" Saitek Rudder Pedals and the thightening wheel broke up after less than 3 months. It had the tendency to losen so I was constently thightening them up, up to the point that they broke. I had none of this with the combat version. They are thightened up and stay this way. I don't know how much they are now, but they really worth the money IMHO Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, Intel Core i7-2600K (3.4 GHz), Corsair Vengeance 2x4096 Mo DDR3 1866 MHz, SSD 120 Go Vertex 2, EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 4Go (04G-P4-2978-KR), TM HOTAS Warthog #03797 (MB replaced), Saitek Combat Pro Rudder, TrackIR 5, TM Cougar MFDs with Lilliput 8" UM 80
Buckeye Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Thanks guys, my order is in at MPS for the Combat's...all stores and websites are currently sold out of them, but MPS is slated to have them replenished to shop out on the 23rd so I should have them in hand (on foot?) by month end. Really looking forward to them...pretty pumped as how sick my set up will be. Only been a sim pilot for a month or less and I already have a TrackIR5, Warthog HOTAS, and now these. Safe to say I'm addicted to this hobby.
