I put that post with the recommendation to ED / Partners and 3rd Parties to a "official" list with the Banned / Veto aircraft / Helo / Vehicles / Theaters, etc. in production / Reserved. That list, can be show the actual module and reserved aircraft's to the futures Partners or 3rd Parties, and no see otherwise sad news of cancellations by 3rd parties of your work modules by a release of ED / Partner / 3rd party, and the lost of develop time, waste of resources, talent and money by a cancellation (example: L-39 Albatros Team Cancellation by ED L-39 project announcement).

You guys are reading into things, there could be other reasons behind ED's L-39. Look at the first thread in the How-to section on adding aircraft, it used a L-39 as an example shape which means ED had art assets for the L-39 as long, if not longer than the 3rd Party team. Could it be that ED just felt the team wasnt getting there fast enough and decided to proceed with theirs? Maybe. So lets not put it all on ED until (if) we hear more information...

I wouldn't read too much into that either. I was the one who requested the wunderluft style example with respect to creating an L-39 mod. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1470916&postcount=12

It was ED's shape though, correct? Meaning they had art assets for the L-39 back then, correct? All I am saying is that we dont know everything here, so we shouldnt jump to conclusions and start asking for restricted module lists, etc...

Yes that is true, not disagreeing with that. But let's also not assume every aircraft they update with new 3d models will get a special DCS module. Anyway, a public list of restricted modules from ED will not happen for obvious reasons.

Nope, I understand that, but they had the art assets for something, whether it was internal testing or whatever... never meant to say that every model they have internally will eventually be a module.

I wasn't reading anything into anything. I was just pointing out that a list such as that will never be published.

I think Silver Dragon has a good point. If ED said they would never do plane X then a 3rd party dev could do it and know they are not wasting their time.

Now maybe ED will never say never and will do plane X at some point but having a list would be a good start so maybe a 3rd party dev could get their plane in before ED changes their mind?

For example would ED ever do this plane? Westland Whirlwind:

i don't think that ED know what they will do in 5 to 10 years, i bet they didnt expected to do a FW-190 3 years ago.

if a 3rd - Party developer wanna have the exclusive production licence, they can ask ED for it, be sure it will cost you something but you can ask. If you don't get it you have to calculate with the case that someone is better and faster than wih the same product like you.

Also don't expect that ED will give you 24/7 developer support with 1 hour reaction time, i bet they would, but only if you pay what that service costs.

That's not some kind of that common moderator damage control's, that's just usual business rules.

True enough. Any dev would need ED's agreement for royalty payments if they were trying to sell their mod.

I'm just thinking of those folks that spend hours working on a free mod and then find out that it would get replaced by an ED product. Their mod then becomes a filler and might not be worth the effort.

Ricardo is doing alot of nice work on the buildings right now but I don't know if he is wasting his time with EDGE expected later this year.

Like the OP said, a list of stuff ED wouldn't touch or are planning to develop would help. Plus I think Silver Dragon is getting tired of managing his roadmap.

Hope not, it's a wonderful centralized list. The only one in fact.
