=BURNING SKIES= WWII Server

Pretty please, make sure to have the labels mod active on the Normandy mission. All the current MP servers don't have it. They're great for sightseeing but terrible for furballs.

One small request Eekz. All of the Normandy multiplayer servers so far are basically 12 o clock, completely clear day, Airquake servers.

Could you please change the time of day to early morning or early evening? Maybe add a cloud or two? On your mission? The lighting engine really looks fantastic in pretty much every setting except "high noon, clear skies". and yet every server insists on using that setting. So sterile and boring.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Hello eekz,

regarding ground point calculation i just asking myself what do we want to calculate ?

i thing that calculation may integrate pilote effort to win the game instead of finding a good window to score.

(i try both and the winner is ...)

This is just a reflection to give score more acurate and not something like "you better do this or do that"

Some parameter may be add in calculation such as : server population and team balance, target type and score,

full target destroyed (1, 2 or 3), mission completed.

i do not have so much air experience (just coming back home alive !) so i just talk about ground attack.

Btw, this server is awesome !

as Victor said : Bot Tak :-)

I totally agree with that and there will be improved ranking formulas with things that you've described in mind. Currently we are working on better stats back-end system and once it's done, I'll be implementing improved formula.

Announcement

Transition to Normandy will take place today

We'll start with simpliest mission (2 spawning airfield per side, and no ground targets). But it'll evolve quickly to keep pilots interested. I plan to make weekly updates of the mission adding features and scenarios.

Ground targets in Normandy harder to spot/kill

I have started flying in Normandy and set up a mission with ground targets.

As long as they're on the beach - fine. But of course they don't stay there. And as soon as they are in the bocage zone they are

1. very difficult to spot

2. even more difficult to kill. In the run-in on ground targets I tend to be fairly low, and that works well in NORMANDY ANTICIPATION. But in the Normandy terrain the trees hide the targets and if you are not extremely cautious the trees kill you.

The point is, if the Burning Sky missions in Normandy require the destruction of many ground targets like they did in 1.5, it will become extremely difficult to be successful. In the real war I believe that tanks were successfully attacked through saturation bombing rather than fighters dropping a bomb or some rockets and missing most of the time.

So will the emphasis in the Normandy terrain be more on air victories rather than ground target kills?

I keep that in mind, and while there will be frontline with tanks on both sides, and convoys in back area which you will be able to kill just for points if you want to, the main main objectives for players will be built around B-17s formations. Also I'm thinking about ground action mechanics and moving frontline but that's a bit early to talk in detail yet.

So, the first and primary objectives that will appear will protecting B-17s for Allies and destroying them for Axis. Then we'll see how it goes.

Some random WWII AI vehicles, or even airplanes thrown into the mix, would probably add a lot to the fun of the mission. Especially during low population times. (I have no idea are there any WWII AI fighter aircraft in the WWII asset pack?)

Are labels supposed to look like this?

No. Will fix it. Seems labels format has changed a bit in 2.1 as in 1.5 { symbol is displayed as dot on a label.

AI vehicles will come soon. No worries :)

eekz if you are going to increase the numbers then you deffo need a ping limiter as the warping was unreal tonight. oh and server is down

Server's up. Labels fixed. Will be considering ping limiter. It's easy to implement.

What's a reasonable number? 300?

thx eekz. i think 200- 250 is more than fair. regarding labels, are they more like they used to be ?

Have you given any thought to time of day? Every serve seems to run mid day times, very un appealing I think especially wth new lighting effects. Is this something you've considered? Early dawn or beginning of evening? If it's for server performance then I understand totally and my question is null lol

[sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey!

multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''

The mission lasts from 6am till 7pm, so you can meet any lightning scene at the server, except night
