Hey DOW,

This seems like a server I'd love to join, but I found out after it was closed to the public. I registered on your forum but I never got the admin approval. Is it closed completely to new applicants? The posts about the recent changes seem to leave it open to those who register.

Maybe my request just got missed...

It looks to me that Sunday was a great success. While I was unable to join in (other responsibilities) during the afternoon, I could see that there were several people online.

I did get logged in around 4PM (EST) and stayed on until 9PM. We had a great time last night flying in a couple new missions and one or two not-so-new, but all were a blast.

I trust everyone had a great time and will pass the message on to others while patiently waiting for the next opportunity to furball.

PS> The only complaint (if you can call it that ?) is that there weren't more 109/190 pilots. Of course, that didn't bother me one bit .... snicker !!

Let's do it again soon feller's (and Ladies .. not sure there are many out there but I'm sure ALL are welcome).

Logged into server for first time in few days.

FYI Admins >>

Server on new mission (T-55 tanks headed for our oil fields). It is stuck on this mission for 13+ Hours.

The server also has an unusually high Ping (133 for me is high).

Solid Orange Inside Canopy

(re: Message #192) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2359270&highlight=orange+canopy#post2359270

Hi,

Battle in the Bay 10:30 PM Eastern time, between Sukhumi and Guadata.

My canopy glass went all solid orange dogfighting low altitude east of Guadata in the foothills. Outside few looks like bullet hits, but clear glass. I did not go head to head firing passes. Never happened before on any server including DoW's. I was in Fw-190, full realism.

I kept flying rtb in the mountains, later disconnected in flight.

Server bug or mission design?

I posted this dilemma on the text chat radio. Another guy replied him, too.

Thanks for the server. Lot of fun once I find enemy to fight with.

Hi,

Happened again this afternoon, almost the same situation as quoted above, except a different mission was up.

I have not flown the 190 in awhile and doing a refresher.

I think the interior canopy went solid orange when I took some hits.

Do I need to run any mod pack you guys might be using?

I will try different servers to see if this same situation occurs with them.

My two rides currently are only the Ka-50 and FW-190. I have no issue, yet, with the Ka-50.

Take care.

hmmm - i didnt make battle in the bay but that doesnt sound like something by design. We dont use any mod packs on our server with the exception of a skinpack that we have for our planes.

can you grab a screenshot next time?

I don't think Battle in the Bay has been in the rotation in a long while. Similar mission maybe?

Sounds like the canopy damage texture is missing. Only see the issue in that particular mission? Have all the updates for DCS? We don't require any mods aside from suggesting our custom squad skins which should not alter any cockpit textures.

I run some texture mods I keep in JSGME. I will back them out and just keep the 190's English mod and see what happens with you guys.

If I still get an issue, I will consider running a repair.

Thanks for the replies.

It would have been nice if DCS had considered a Canopy Damage Texture for the P-51, especially considering all the pilot kills we are victim of.

BTW - DieHard, considering it only takes about 2 minutes any time I have run a DCS Repair, I wouldn't hesitate to do it anyway ... and as often as need be.

Happened again tonight with the 190 in the one-on-one dogfight sortie in Single Player. Couple bullet hits from the P-51 to the 190's canopy's front windshield made all three front windshield sections go orange.

I have never done a repair to my DCS World installation.

Is this the how-to utility you use to do a repair?

I think I need to only do a repair to the FW-190 module to solve this issue.

I have never used that repair approach before - never even heard of it.... I just use the repair in the ED folder of the start menu

I concur with Dooom. I have never seen or heard of the Command Prompt method.

Like Dooom says, look in Start/All Programs/Eagle Dynamics/DCS World/Repair DCS World.

Click on "Repair DCS World" and it will execute the Repair Process which will only take a couple minutes at most.
