Careful before you throw the mod together with other texture mods, that change the high.lua etc. There are different settings for different sections (land/district).

I carefully added the district section to the combined Mustang and Highwayman Eds mod.

First looks are great (extensive flight over Tbilisi), no fps impact. I need to test in detail now.

I see no difference in FPS... maybe the 4GB of VRAM are still enough :).

@NRG-Vampire - I saw nothing wrong in rendering. Could you please give some examples?

 

The differences for Ultra_High.lua are:

nearFullRenderDistance = 6000.0; original More Visibilty 1000.0;

nearDistance = 5000.0; original More Visibilty 700.0;

 

So these setting could impact the performances, however in my case nothing notable.

Ok, so fps impact is virtually zero. Looks awesome and I see no glitches etc.

 

That is already in combination with Highwayman EDs Towns Mod, Toby's Low and Slow ground textures included, plus the enhanced grass/ground noise textures from T.Jacob.

 

Required the manual merging of the high.lua file I'm using (copy/paste the whole district section)

 

IMPORTANT! The HiRes buildings currently hit the Video RAM with some 400MB, which gives me a video RAM usage of 2,900+ MB, with all mods combined, so I would carefully test it, if you have less than 3GB.

Current 4GB cards should work without problems, on 2GB cards it may affect fps, when caching in normal RAM and swapping...

 

Overall a great addition, just took another spin over Gelendhzik harbor and town. Looking forward to beta or release.

Thank you very much guys, I'm quite much happy to see that it's appreciated, and that it seems to work fine.

 

@NRG, I don't know what's your issue, there shouldn't be any problem, just like with other people, you probably did something wrong during the installation.

 

The LOD from 5 km, I put it because the distant LOD are still missing so that I can study the mipmaping and give you a good preview. I'll see if the distant LOD works fine, I'll reduce the distance. If it's a little... shitty, well I'll let it like this !

 

For the LUA, I only changed the two lines given by Abburo (58 and 59 if I do well remember)

Ah and sorry about the issue wth others mods, understand that... It's my first mod ever and the first time I really use photoshop, so perhaps we all can be happy : not any computer burnt using it ! :p

 

For the final package, I'll give the lines to correct in the lua and I'll make a separated download ;)

erm..no need to apologize for anything..you did/do a wonderfull job! Merging differnet mods is something a DCS simmer has to deal with..so we all know what to do..at least more or less :)

Can the guy who had the 10 FPS drop, post his PC specs? Especially the graphics card and amount of video RAM and normal RAM?

 

Just to get an idea where the choke hold might originate...

OK so, as I can see there isn't (surprisingly) real fps loss (with my gtx 680 and 2 go vram, I loose between 2 and 10).

 

Now another interesting test would be to increase the distant from 5 km to 10.

Hello guys, you're doing a great job here.

I am using for my own pleasure :music_whistling: my personal work on buildings combined with some of yours.

The reason for the non release of this work was the problem i had with that ugly cliping effect. but it seems that a solution is poping out here :thumbup:

I will send some screen shots soon to share where i am.

There should only be an fps hit, if your vRAM can't store the textures in addition to framebuffer.

So depending on resolution and number of high resolution texture mods, it may swap textures to normal RAM and that would affect fps...

I must say... due to the awesome quality of your work.... It kinda helped me improve on my Ka-50 flying :D

 

I now love flying in between buildings and hiding from enemy units. For the first time ever; I did a pop up attack where I came up on a building, popped up for a peek, laser warning went off, went back down, prepped a vikhr and the skhval, went back up, fired off a quick shot, went back down.

 

Definitely a must have mod in your list.

 

With this mod; my mod list is finally complete :D

Nope, there are 2 textures. The near lod, which is completed and in High res, and the distant lod, which isn't completed and is in low res.

 

The goal of the alpha was to test the impact of the High res textures on computers. It seems it's limited. So now I can focuse on the distant LOD, cause the new textures currently appear from only 5 km ;)

Erf, I didn't even touch at it ! Try in the building_texture . zip but I really don't know :/

 

The mains I modified were the differents "home" , "dom", "hotel" and " korpus".
