The Mediterranean is not only the least well-represented major theater in flight sims & games, it's also the most interesting to me, because of the Mediterranean Sea's having been the stage (so to speak) for the ancient history of Western civilization. It has some beautiful geography & climate, too.

I wonder if we will get a "modern Europe" and an "old Europe" cause that would be cool! and they would already have the base map already so it wouldn't be that hard im guessing.

One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales...

:)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)

How about a world war one setting similar map,

Wonder if there would be support from the community for WW1 air combat.

Aren't we a wee bit short on WWI aircraft?

As to the second question...

I want the 44 map to be as detailed as possible and filled with thousands of destroyable objects before we move on to somewhere else.

Agreed, but it's a bit like designing the 6th gen fighter. If we dont start thinking and planning for it now by the time '44 is finished (a few years yet) we will have to wait another 5-10yrs before the next map will be ready.

Would be cool to build all of Europe, and then expand south :)

Great Idea! Then we could expand that map to the west until we hit Europe!;)

I hope Ed sticks to late war. There are other sims who cover the mid-war very good, rumours say that med is coming next there. I hope for Either a northern germany/benelux map with the inclusion of flyable mosquito, typhoon, tempest, Ta152, 190A8, Me410 and AI Lanny, or a northeastern germany map with the inclusion of Yak3, La7, Tu2+the germans from before. Best of course would be a map which Covers the whole area, and all 3 plane Setups :)

Also hoping for Pacific, but I think thats a loong way to go till we see it in any new sim:(

Korea then Vietnam. Mideast/Med/ Africa. If Europe campaign map is developed large enough (WWII) then there should be a lot of overlap to cover from France to Russia. If a campaign map covers the Pacific then it would cover both Korea and Vietnam area. All we need then is the appropriate aircraft. I would also like to see more development teams join to develop more aircraft and more MAPS.

Does anyone know how large ED's programming team is that is only focused on DCS ?

I think a Korean War map would make the most sense since we have the sabre and soon the MiG-15

Yes, this is what we need. There has not been a proper Korea-set sim since Mig Alley. I only wish ED got this whole 2.0 thing out the door and enabled 3rd parties to start making maps.

I'd really like to see a Pacific War Solomons/New Guinea, '42-'43 extension someday.

Perhaps it is the only real time when things were balanced between the Japanese and American combatants.

what about map of some not specific place without name? just like in the early combat games like Falcon and F16CombatPilot?

then we can fly everything there from biplanes to modern jets. and nobody will ever again complain about Stangs over Georgia etc. :)

pacific and desert, i´d love to land and take off one corsair in a carrier, or atack tanks in tobruk......... but only are dreams ;)

I reckon a nice Me-163 Komet would be a good module after Europe 1944. Complete with removable landing trolley that if you don't detach at the right time can either bounce back up and knock your plane out of the sky to the high volatile fuel mixture just exploding like they did.

I reckon that would be cool.

And maybe an Arado Ar234 Blitz.

Sorry Chaps, but given the history an' all, it's a bit daft to be talking about what comes next. I'd be surprised if there is ever a Normandy. Pleasantly so, but surprised nonetheless.

What is the difference between using a fictional map and pretending that a non-fictional map is actually somewhere else, or nowhere at all?

I'd imagine the Me-163 would be fun to fly in DCS and I can't see it being that difficult to make compared to the other planes especially the Me-262. I also can't see landings/takeoffs being very fun or successful if the current group of online pilots are our test subjects. :music_whistling:

I can see people jumping for joy when they finally get into the air without crashing, happily rocketing towards their enemy when suddenly........BOOM........ their plane just explodes, then the rage, then the respawn and try it all over again. The fun of flying a explosive piece of wood with a fuel mixture that can explode from the smallest of issues.

don't know if this plane would make to much sense in DCS. Probably not, at least definitely not from a multiplayer perspective. 6 minutes of fuel are not enough to find any enemy in DCS..in addition it would be close to impossible to kill/hit another fighter (if it would be made right).

BUT as soon as normandy map comes out..and there will really be huge B17 formations, like we all hope..this bird could(!!) make sense. But there had to be a proper system implemented. like

-->people who wanna fly this bird are waiting in the lobby. as soon as a B17 formation comes close to a 163 airfield, they all got a notification, that they now can start with their planes, and get the B17 coordinations.

That could be fun. :)

But just throwing this bird in, like the "normal" planes would absolutely make no sense...

Well, maybe not, but i think would be interesting the Spanish Civil War. It was a very important war for the evolve of aviation and it was basically a perfect chance to test the german plane, bombs and guns...(same for Russians). I think that it's not time yet to go to pacific. ED even has not a good carrier physics landings yet (check SU-33...) and maybe that gets some time. I think that Spanish Civil war or maybe Afrika's Operations from WWII. I'w love to see that. But i hope for Normandy map gets bigger than just that, normandy, because K4 never fought on normandy.
