sethshark Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hey guys. Just an update. Ive been going through the mind numbing A-10C Training and ive dedicated my whole week end to this. I got a decent Thrustmaster Stick, the T16000, But i think im going to go crazy and purchase the badd ass Metal Hotas Warhog stick. I saw it yesterday and was like....hmmmmmmmmmm..... :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Manfred von Richthofen, better known as the "Red Baron". sethshark Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Oh. One thing i will say is that on several of the weapons tutorials, i was not able to finish. Its like sometimes it just stops working. Does anyone know of an alternate A-10C weapons tutorials??? I want to learn all the weapon system but with these built in tutorials, its just not happening.... StrongHarm Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 From a previous post: Stop, take a deep breath, and RTFM! The A-10C manual may seem like dry reading at first, but once you have the self discipline to sit and read it you'll find it's chocked full of tasty technical and tactical goodness. The fact is, you have two options: RTFM - 80% within 30 days - Spend a couple of days to read the manual. You don't have to memorize it. You should just scan it so you'll have the info in your head to connect the dots.. and it will be a much more useful reference in the future. Click Learn/Vids/Ask People - 60% within 180 days - Click learning is possible in a lot of games and sims these days.. this is not one of them. There are extremely useful aspects of the aircraft sensors and capabilities that people don't generally discuss. You may never find that critical component, that for you, makes you effective in every sortie you fly. I've read the manual several times and will probably do it again.. it's really good. I'm confident that it's the reason why my sorties contain no hesitation.. only devastation. This has been a public service announcement by the RTFM Society of Aviation Competence. It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

Does anyone know of an alternate A-10C weapons tutorials??? I want to learn all the weapon system but with these built in tutorials, its just not happening.... There have been problems with the Training missions in the past, but I'm not aware of current bugs. Could you explain what happened (or what didn't) in which tutorial in a bit more detail? I won't be at my gaming machine for a few days, but if noone else can help I can check them by the end of the week. It just would be helpful to narrow it down a wee bit more than "several" ;) Other than that, yeah, the A-10C is an awesome plane. After years of flying it I still discover new stuff all the time.

It just would be helpful to narrow it down a wee bit more than "several" ;)It may have something to do with the space bar trigger. Since the default assignment of the space bar is 'weapon launch' and it's also used to advance through the training mission, I think the mission gets confused. If you remove the 'weapon launch' assignment from the space bar, the issue is resolved. Not sure if this is the OP's problem though.

marluk Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) ABRE-TLA's training qualification campaign are great, but I think those are not suitable to start with. They are better for second or third step. I remember when I was going through training missions it was frustrating that text disappears automatically and there is no way to get it back. Sometimes I needed more time to find out what exactly I have to do because sometimes not all buttons are highlighted properly. Anyhow, check again if there is some condition that might prevent further execution. Altitude, heading, speed ... that was often the case why training refuses to proceed. And read what you have to do. Maybe the buttons you have to press are not highlighted. StrongHarm Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Use pause a lot during the training if you need to. I agree with Marluk that in-flight training is not an efficient first step. If you want to have smooth practical training, get through subsystem familiarization first (read the manual). Gerry Abbott makes my favorite training vids as well.. he's very thorough. From a previous post: Click learning this product is an option, but you're looking at about a 6 month learning curve to learn 50% of the bird. The better option, in my opinion, provides 80% in 3months: Read the Manual (find the self discipline to do this.. you'll be SO glad you did) Go through the training tasks to make the manual 'click' Familiarization Operation Combat [*]Use manual as reference as you perform repeated practical training to close the gaps in your understanding of each subsystem [*]View training videos from the community My favorites are from Gerry Abbott, but that might be because I dig his accent :) [*]Search the forums (or ask questions) to close the gaps in advanced understanding [*]Join a squadron [*]Make your own missions tailored to your ongoing training and proficiency. Here are my personal missions for ongoing training(free): Live Fire Exercise Tank Busting 101 At the end of the day you get out of it what you put into it.. and it's a matter of personal preference. Perhaps your level of interest and commitment are different than mine. Enjoy the bird, and welcome to the community! Sabre-TLA Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 We just saw your order and are awaiting your SUID so we can issue your mission keys. See this web page for details. The BFT Qualification campaign is a set of missions to test your knowledge and techniques to operate the A-10C. For the A-10C BFT campaign we also provided a practice mission package which is a set of single player missions that you can try first before trying the campaign missions. The practice mission package has extra dialogue to help you understand the procedures and what you need to do to pass the qualification missions. Your mission key for the BFT campaign will unlock the practice mission package and all documentation packages related to the BFT campaign. Once you have done those then you should have enough knowledge and experience to pass the qualification missions. We recommend training in this order: 1. Read the DCS A-10C manual and review our A-10C Amplified Checklist provided with the BFT campaign. 2. Watch the training videos and watch other videos that others have done ( are very good). 3. Do some test flights of your own using the in game missions. 4. Use the BFT practice missions to get good at understanding what the qualification missions will be like and what you need to do to pass. Then when you feel ready, do the qualification campaign to get your qualification. Please contact us if you have further questions or any issues. Thanks for supporting Maple Flag Missions. A portion of your purchase goes to TFC/ED for future game development. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates

I always recommend those missions. But as I said in my previous post those are maybe little too advanced to start with from beginning. Don't let 'Basic' in Basic Flight Training mislead you :) . If you find it little too complicated don't get intimidated, take a look videos, fly missions, etc. and get back when you feel ready. 7rooper Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Yeah...DCS A-10C is the best simulator in the multiverse! Everytime I interact with the MFCDs and CDU I got very impressed with the complexity of these virtual computers running in my computer My rig specs: Intel Core i7 4770 @3.4Ghz // Corsair 16GB DDR3 // MoBo Asus Z87K // HDD 1TB 7200RPM // eVGA Nvidia GTX 760GT 2GB DDR5 // LG 3D 47" 1920x1080 // Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS // Saitek Combat Pro Pedals // Thrustmaster MFD Cougar pack // PS3 Eye + FTNOIR
Aginor Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Same here. I have flown the A-10C for years now and I am still impressed by its complexity. I love to see it when I show DCSW to people who are used to normal PC games or even simulations from a few years ago and their heads almost explode. The facial expressions are priceless. :) DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet
