Oh, and quad 20mm cannons with over 1000 rounds of ammo.:joystick:

Hmmmmm The ones I worked with had 2 20mm M39 single barrel guns... Where did they hide the other two?

System Specs: System Specs: MSI Tomahawk Z590 wifi, I9 11900K Processor, 64gb Corsair Vengance 3600mhz ram, 4070TI Video Card, Windows 11 Pro, 2 Samsung NVMe SSD (2tb and 1 tb), Valve Index VR system

Yes, and also radar, AIM-9's, AGM-65's, and various bombs/rockets. Oh, and quad 20mm cannons with over 1000 rounds of ammo.:joystick:

Could F-5E carry Mavs? :O

Yes it can :)

It seems that the new ED model has many new weapons that can be carried by F-5E, including LGB-12. But Mav is not one of them.

I dont know much about the f-5 but i was also under the impression it could carry mavs. Logical conclusion would say that it can carry laser guided mavs wich arent modeled in DCS

I don't know much about F-5 either, but where is the laser hiding that will guide said weapon?

Does it need someone lasing the target?

That's one way to solve the problem. Such a close support with ground team requires too much coordination...IMHO of course. Also given that first laser guided maverick was released around ~1985...and aircraft is early 60's design....

Plenty of aircraft use laser guided weapons without being able to lase them themselves. I think modifying the hud software a little to show a mav targeting reticule is easyer then installing a display that can show the IR image. (Though like i said earlyer i dont know much about the f5 and am not sure if it already has MFCD's or not)

As it stands, the AI F-5E in game can use AIM-9P/M, Mk.82/83/84, GBU-12, Rockets (7 or 20 pack), fuel tanks and travel pods. One of the more interesting configurations is 5x Mk.82's on a fuselage rack. I'm uploading a brief video of it right now, will edit it in once done. Also, the original F-5E's to roll off the factory used optically guided AGM-65A/B's. I don't know how they aimed them, probably with the HUD but that's just a guess.

5 bombs on 1 rack?

Oh yeah i honestly didnt think about being able to use optical mavs by just using the hud to aim it.. it doesnt need an mfcd at all really

This one has a MFD, but this might be a modified F-5E cockpit though.

IIRC the F-5Es that could carry mavs had a variant of the radar display could also be used to target Mavericks.

I dont see an MFD, I see a radar display.

I'm not sure how that is effective means of employing this aircraft. If they attach a weapon to my aircraft that I can not guide, that provides way too many limitation. Especially when weapon is designed primary against tanks. So to make it effective I need to coordinate where I need to release said weapon, on what frequency it is guided and at what time guided laser will turn on while other aircraft (wingman or other flights) are trying to do same. So IMHO, it's a nice toy to have in a very limited conflict where prior coordination has been accomplished in such a way that enemy cannot have a say in your plan.

btw, this is not if it can be used, but more of why would someone employ such strategy with so many limfacs.

Can't it be used for other things aswell, like nav and mav (which would make it a Multi Function Display)?
