A better figure to go on is how many aircraft were lost in total.

Um - not if you want some idea how many were lost to what cause.

It's worth mentioning the US likes to claim losses to fighters as losses to ground fire and SAMs when there is any ambiguity. I don't doubt the VPAF numbers are inflated, but official US numbers are also deflated.

That may or may not be the case - problem is that they don't actually know for sure the causes of all the losses so the full picture will never be known. Even if the pilot survived they sometimes only knew they were hit by "something". Literally in a lot of cases getting access to the crash site at the time is the only way to tell.

On an unrelated note, what do fights between F-4's and assorted MiGs have to do with the F-5E

Not much.

Perhaps suggesting a topic like F-5E operations over SEA would be a way to go.

Belsimtek DCS F-5E Tiger II in 2:00 and 3:00

so it seems based on prior screenshots and now this vidoe like its already in a mature state of development. It looks like its in a internal Alpha testing.

then again from the newsletter ED did say the F5E is to be expected in first half of 2016.

Though Beslimtek hasn't really been giving too many updates let alone any sort of "hype train"

Russians are not likely to do that. I don't mind. I like a finished module. Altough the Belsimtek "bèta's" aren't bad at all! I think they will release it when it is ready. I trust them. They delivered good quality stuff in the past.

Happy Flying! :pilotfly:

I see the F-5EM taking off here in front of my house every day. Your sound is very tall and handsome. I'm hoping the sound of real-world aircraft get to DCS.

What a great little airplane =>.

Who would have thought it would still be in service today if you asked then im the early 70s.

And in a few years you might get to see Gripens there instead.

I wish i lived next to a millitary airfield :pilotfly:

Yeah, but it would be probably much faster to actually learn russian, than to wait for the *finalized* aircraft manual. (I'm looking at you, Mi-8 )

My russian is getting pretty good.

The only way I am buying this module, is if you can use the tailhook on carrier landings, or AGM-65 Mavericks. Too much single purpose aircraft in the game to be completely honest!

the F-5E cant do carrier landings.

The Tailhook is not made to stop the aircraft at landing speeds so its likely to just rip off.

And if it is not then the landing gear will collapse as its not ment to take the punishment of a carrier landing.

And while many F-5Es were AGM-65 capable the variant they are modeling will not be (unless they find good sources on how the AGM-65 targeting working for the F-5E with the Maverick capable Display)

And the F-5E is still a multi role and can carry a suprisingly large bomb load for such a small aircraft.

And Rockets will likely also be important on it.

(and i really hope they give it Zuni rocket pods as that would be one of its main Air-ground Armaments)

I will get the F-5E either way but the dream would be if it was AGM-65 capable as it would give it a greater Air-Ground capability.

Since both rockets and bombs (unguided bombs) are less effective then they should be.

And as such the only reliable way to kill any target with armor (even somthing with very light armor) you pretty much need a direct hit.

And as such Guided Munitions are the most effective since Splash dmg and fragmentation does not work as it should atm.

(While guided munitions should be superior to unguided its even more so then it should be atm)

to be honest the specific role is what we want to simulate and experience.

for fulfilling do-everything hero fantasies there are games like ace combat.

Try landing F-5E on a carrier, you will drive the landing gear through the wing.

And the tail hook is not designed to survive carrier arresting wires.

You need to wait for the Hornet or TomCat
