*Rage* Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Fury X reviews collated here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showth ... t=18678130 Summary - Fury X runs incredibly cool and quiet. But it gets pounded by the 980ti at 1080p and possibly at 1440p. At 4K it is equal to a 980ti. - Only 4GB VRAM doesnt seem to affect fps, still enough even at 4K. - Very little overclocking potential. This is likely to change with updated drivers. - Its a new architecture. Likely to get much faster as drivers mature. Its also much better designed for DX12 and Windows 10. Unfortunately I feel a little underwhelmed. Where it not for the fact that AMD renders smoke better and that the reference 980ti runs very hot and loud I would have bought a 980ti by now. Not really sure which to go for. I wish ED would help by saying something about relative performance in DCS2.0. If they said how well multigpu scaled, or if there was still a performance gap between nvidia and AMD, or if the aircraft exhaust trail effects are still better with AMD then many people, myself included would have a much clearer upgrade path and save alot of money. TAW_Blaze Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Off topic, but Where it not for the fact that AMD renders smoke better Has it ever crossed your mind that it might be AMD cards overdoing smoke renders? It sure does seem ridiculous to eyeball things more than 10nm away without a problem.
*Rage* Posted June 25, 2015 Author Posted June 25, 2015 I dont remember where I read it but I believe it has been confirmed that the effect 'appears as the developers intended' on AMD cards rather than AMD overdoing renders. Nvidia is certainly underdoing it. Personally I do feel they are a little overdone but I would rather leave that discussion to another thread. Lets keep to the topic. I'm a little surprised no one else has posted about the release of the new cards before I had! 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

joey45 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 ...... I wish ED would help by saying something about relative performance in DCS2.0. Probably ED doesn't even know they finalise everything. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. six.dof Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 finally Fury X is landed, i wait the whole time, torture my self with a 280X on a Philips 40" 4k display. As the performance is quite low for the number of cores, and knowing DCS2 will use directX 11, I order the 980ti from Gigabyte, hope i did the right thing:music_whistling: first green card since over 10 years.

I have the 980ti, I installed it yesterday but due to my Warthog problems I haven't tested it in DCS yet. As far as the card goes, it feels like a very premium item! Regards [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
S-GERAT Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 I have the 980ti, I installed it yesterday but due to my Warthog problems I haven't tested it in DCS yet. As far as the card goes, it feels like a very premium item! I get my 980 ti G1 this morning, so probably I try DCS with it. Until today I was using a 680, so I hope to get a good performance boost :pilotfly:
six.dof Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 980ti is definetly a boost compared to my old 280X, not less than 35FPs@4K, i7-2600k@4,4GHz, 16GB Does someone get the Fury? And use on 4k, just curious I was worry I need 2 for 4K, if DCS2 have the same or better utelization of hardware, I am relaxed now:) Even games like Stalker lost alpha, no problem on highest setting
*Rage* Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) Im still pre-ordered on a Fury X! Hope to get it in the next 2 weeks...unless I change my mind and go for a 980ti. There has been some talk of AMD Fury X having better texture detail and image quality compared to Nvidia TX/980ti at the expense of FPS. That would certainly explain a few things. I'm currently getting 20-35 fps currently with a 2700k@4.6, 16gb ram, 7970. Buckeye Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I'll still with my SLI 970's, they are doing the trick just fine for me at the moment. Curious to see how the benching of these cards pans out though. Flycat Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 The doul fiji will announce after 2 or 3 month, that will be the true flagship, hope ED could help us using CF/SLI on DCS. LOL ( I don't think there is enough room to fill in 24 pieces of memory chips on the PCB of Titan X *2, so we may not have doul GM200 in the future. )
BitMaster Posted July 4, 2015 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) All of the new AMD Fury X cards have an issue.... AMD agreed, they all agreed to have that "glue baffle" problem producing not so nice noise around the pump and piping. They also all agreed, as stated to THG, NOT to give the cards back to AMD ( who also is a victim in this case ) but get a RMA compensation. That basically means that any vendor will get a discount for faulty cards BUT those cards will still be sold and will most likely NOT have A STICKER SAYING "FIRST BATCH, BEWARE THE LOUD PUMP". All in all, AVT did a bad job and the end customer pays with his ears. I now know again why I have a DIY WC, external, high end pump, ext. Radiator etc... ...no noise... no noise at 40°C right now but the low whistle of 4 x 180mm fans Nvidia still rules as the rest of the test above states, with the pump problem on top, AMD Fury X is a pure No-Go for now until the pumps have been fixed ! THG has this article in english too, check their US website Bit Edited July 4, 2015 by BitMaster Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

SkateZilla Posted October 27, 2015 Posted October 27, 2015 My preview hardware was to get benches for an article using specific benches. it wasnt installed in my everyday use rig. which is where the beta and tester installs etc reside. :) Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
Fakum Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Thanks for the clarification. Does anyone have any feedback on these using the beta. Most of the reports I have read for benchmarking put the 980 TI ahead of the Fury X, but most of the benchmarking was done at resolutions below my 4480 x 1600 needs. I still think that the 980 TI is the better choice in that price range, but I don't have any support for that theory except casual reviews as mentioned. *Rage* Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 As far as I remember the FX scales better with higher resolution compared to the 980ti. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
