Yurgon Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 I'm almost certain DCS used to automatically save tracks of the two previous SP flights somewhere in the installation directory. But now I can't seem to find any automatically saved SP tracks, neither in the installation directory C:\Program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\ nor in Saved Games\DCS. Was this feature removed, or am I just too stupid to find the tracks? Note, I know that MP tracks are automatically saved in Saved Games\DCS\Tracks\Multiplayer, but that's not what I'm looking for and there don't seem to be any SP tracks, either.
Ironhand Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 (edited) It just saves/writes a copy of the last mission you fly: C:\Windows\Temp\DCS\LastMissionTrack.trk Presumably this is the file that's renamed and saved elsewhere, when you click "Save Track" in the after-mission screen. Interesting. In my case, I couldn't find such a file, unfortunately. There is no folder DCS inside my C:\Windows\Temp or in C:\Temp, and no *.trk files in either Temp-folders. (Win 7 64 Ultimate, DCS 1.2.16). I looked after I finished flying a mission and without manually saving the track afterwards. The thing is, these automatically saved files sometimes come in very handy when I forgot to save a track and later realize I'd like to take a look at it. If the feature is still available, the save path seems to be another one in my case.

Ironhand Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Interesting. In my case it's C:\Windows\Temp\DCS\LastMissionTrack.trk and I don't have C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Temp\DCS. Just cloned my C: drive last week. I wonder if that's the reason for the difference. Ironhand Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 The AppData folder is hidden by default, you might have to enable viewing in the Folder Options\View panel... :) Oh, the AppData, etc folders are there. It's the DCS folder with the track file that doesn't exist. Sorry. Guess I could have been clearer. I wouldn't rule out cloning as the cause, but it doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense (as it's "cloning", not "moving stuff to different locations" -- but with Windows, anything is possible :D). Out of curiosity, what's your Windows version? Is it maybe a difference between Win 7 and Win 8 (or Win 10 for early adaptors)? Or maybe a difference between 32 bit and 64 bit Windows? (Like I said, I have Win 7 64 bit)

Ironhand Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I'm using Win 7 64 bit, Yurgon, just as you are. I don't know. Perhaps I deleted the stuff in the TEMP folder DCS used by default at some point and it got rebuilt where it is now. Or, perhaps, I'm just different. :) I suppose it doesn't matter as long as the end result is the same...except, of course, in this case it caused me to give misleading information. Yurgon Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 I'm using Win 7 64 bit, Yurgon, just as you are. Huh, weird. The good thing is that others looking for the path now should be aware of both alternatives and they can check if either yields any useful results.

Exorcet Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Is it a way to deactivate automatic recording? Not that I know of, but if this is about SP, it only saves one track, so space shouldn't be an issue.
