Oubaas Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I just bought the Mi-8MTV2 today, and now have all available helicopters in game for the time being. I hope someone releases another one soon. I buy all helicopters automatically. My impressions after flying it for an hour or so and performing several landings? This thing is amazing! I love the Huey, but they are totally different beasts. The Mi-8 is like climbing into a Rolls Royce after getting out of a Jeep if you're used to the Huey. But I love 'em all. If it has rotor blades, I want it. :pilotfly:
JimTM Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Agreed! It's a wonderful module, as is the Huey. I just picked up the Ka-50 in the sale. I haven't flown the 50 a lot yet, but I love what I see so far.
BRAVO_16 Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 One of my favourite modules. I still struggle with landing in confined spaces. Maintain thy airspeed lest the ground rise up and smite thee!
Body Farm Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Belsimtek can defiantly make great helicopters! So sad that there are no news about the Cobra and the Mi-24. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
xaoslaad Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 It is my favorite chopper in the game. I'd love a more modern hip that could carry even a small number of AT missile, but regardless of that this thing is the winner for fun flying. 1

Rogue Trooper Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Belsimtek really do great choppers and I am hoping that there are many more to come. SilentGun Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 It's IMO the best chopper in DCS (transport at least). It truly an amazing experience to fly this machine. Link to my Imgur screenshots and motto http://imgur.com/a/Gt7dF One day in DCS... Vipers will fly along side Tomcats... Bugs with Superbugs, Tiffy's with Tornado's, Fulcrums with Flankers and Mirage with Rafales... :)The Future of DCS is a bright one:)
Simicro Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Hi all, I'm relatively new to DCS (with a previous helicopter experience on FSX Dodosim 206 ten years ago!). I got DCS and the Huey last october and the Mi-8 one week ago during the summer sales. However I did not have time until last week to fly intensively everyday. I know it's subjective but I find the Mi-8 much more enjoyable (sounds, flight behaviour...) than the Huey. At this time I focus on improving my flying skills. I'm not proficient with the weapons yet ;) I'm glad to join the Mi-8 community! - Tony - . My Reviews: Oilfield Campaign - Argo Campaign l My Mission: Huey Ramp Start Voice-Over New! . Cibit Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 The Mi-8 is a great ride, what should make it more enjoyable IMO is the multicrew aspect when it is implemented.Great having co-pilot so you can put kettle on;) We have a little Mi-8 group on steam if your interested http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DCSMi-8 i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
Oubaas Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 Yes, Everytime. LOL! Me too, frequently. Nothing like a good vortex ring stall! BTW, ZoRPA, love the signature, LOL!

Slazi Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Thanks for the mention, Cib. The Steam group is a great way to meet new pilots. Start a post there if you want to fly with others. I think a lot of people are waiting for the Sept 1.5 release right now.
Locutos Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I bought the Mi-8 in the sale last week, had the K-50 and Huey for some time. However, just discovered VA and Hollywoods excellent VAICOM and my love for flight sims has been rekindled to the extent that I have not yet even looked at the Mi-8 as I can't stop playing the Maple Flag missions for the a10c, so damned immersive and these are training missions!!!
SMan Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Nothing like a good vortex ring stall! That sinking feeling... Oooh, chills. Great model that Mi-8, and with the campaign that comes with it, never thought simple transport missions could be so enjoyable. Especially when you also get to engage the enemy from time to time. Makes you appreciate why this heli has been such a big hit with many airforces around the world. Such a workhorse, just stay clear of AAA. Enjoy!
Jacks Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 I too recently bought the Mi-8 and it is by far my favourite module. Landing is a challenge compared to the Huey and I find myself doing more vertical takeoffs and landings than with the UH-1H. I am slowly working through the campaign which is excellent but at some point will need to figure out how to use the autopilot. Loving the Doppler system though. if anyone wants to fly in a group of Mi-8s online then drop me a PM. System Specs: i7 8700k @ 5.0GHz (not delidded), ASRock Extreme4 Z370 MOBO, EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, Samsung Evo 240GB SSD, Samsung Evo 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Noctura NH-D15S Heat Sink, Acer VE278H 27" 1080p Monitor, Ocukus Rift CV1. Controllers: TrackIR 5, Thrustmaster HOTAS X, Saitek Throttle Quadrant (with DIY removable collective mod), Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals. Just trying to keep my number of takeoffs and landings equal!
snowsniper Posted August 24, 2015 Posted August 24, 2015 LOL! Me too, frequently. Nothing like a good vortex ring stall! BTW, ZoRPA, love the signature, LOL! :megalol: Mine are so rare that when one appears by luck, it is always a joy to appreciate ! :megalol: @Jacks "I am slowly working through the campaign which is excellent but at some point will need to figure out how to use the autopilot" always keep the one in the middle on the green position. when you lose some rotor speed ( under 90%) it may switch off because of insuficiant electric generator, always keep high rotor speed ( this can appears in vortex ring recovering or avoiding) switch on the left and right one (heading and alt ) just for take off and landing. better to map a key for each On/off i7-10700KF CPU 3.80GHz - 32 GO Ram - - nVidia RTX 2070 - SSD Samsung EVO with LG TV screen 40" in 3840x2150 - cockpit scale 1:1 - MS FFB2 Joystick - COUGAR F16 throttle - Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
